Also they had some nice dressing up costumes for kids which were inexpensive, but looked good quality. Good prices and friendly service. The location is quite handy as well, being right in the middle of Paisley. The lady, Helen I presume, is happy to offer advice on the best way to do things which is much appreciated as I am not very good at this kind of thing.

I am a big Matalan fan but it is only in past couple of years that I have had the confidence to openly admit it to my peers, now when they say, "Nice dress Lisa," I proudly reply, "A tenner from Matalan, get in!" The store at the Phoenix always has gorgeous little dresses, shoes and bags, usually for under £20. Of course they are never made of the best materials but I still find the quality to be much better than rival store Primark. It is also a good thing if you're buying clothes and things for going on holiday and you know they are going to end up covered in sand and booze and allsorts so you don't want to spend a lot of money on them anyway. I absolutely love Matalan's "Cozy Up" range of night wear. I bought a fluffy white dressing gown with pink hearts on months ago and it has been washed umpteen times but is still as fluffy and cozy as when I first bought it. The lingerie is really pretty too. Unfortunately they don't sell my bra size but I like the packs of 5 ladies boxers, very cute. When I first moved out of my parent's home I bought a lot of my home ware from this Matalan store, basic things like towels and a laundry basket. There are collections by Laurence Llewelyn-Bowen, Colin and Justin and Linda Barker. I can't stand Linda Barker but unfortunately I love her range of kitsch crockery! There is also a collection by Martine McCutcheon which I find more than a little bit random! My favorite section of this Matalan store is the M Party section. This section has everything you need to throw the perfect party. There is a multitude of different invitations, decorations, party games and fancy dress costumes. You could spend an hour just in this department alone!

They also have a really nice range of homeware, which includes the Katie Price bedding range. Their christmas range is great, loads of gorgeous decorations and gifts at cheap prices!

i have been to romaulds a few times and although i was pleased with the results, this salon has a…read morevery production line feel to it. call me old fashioned but i would much rather have a hairdresser and a junior working on my hair than a washer, cutter, styler, colourist and dryer. and i felt each time i have been they push their beauty treatments on you (my last visit the colourist said i could do with getting my eyebrows done as they were a mess!! i havent been back since) this salon is also much more expensive than the other hairdressers in the area.

It has everything from the usual clothes, food, electricals etc to a pizza counter, fish counter (in store) as well as an optician, photo processing and pharmacy (past the tills). There appear to be 3 areas dedicated to promotions. The first to the left of the Produce (fruit & veg), then in the middle of the store (till side) and then the back wall (beside the frozen food). Saying that the prices go up and down like a yo-yo so you have to watch whether things are really the best price or not, however with current competition the prices are usually on the low side. There is a "Grocery Collectuon" point at the back of the ample car park, for people who have ordered on-line and don't want to go into store (not really that busy). Overall it's like most larger size stores but not as wide a range as other stores (Govan or Cumbernauld), a good all rounder.

Ahh good old Asda! I do my weekly shop at this Asda as I find it to be the cheapest of the…read moresupermarket chains and this branch is huge. I always go in for food but spend at least 45 minutes wondering around the George section then meandering over to the books and magazines taking a detour past the DVDs and Cd's. Eventually thought I do reluctantly go and get some food. This Asda is open 24 hours which is great for me because I am an incredibly impatient shopper and can't stand crowds so I tend to go late at night when this place is more or less dead. I know the self service till things are hated by many but I love them because it means I don't need to actual speak to any of the mutant staff, phew! The only real issue I have with this Asda are the fegs, let me explain what these are. In England they have chavs but in Scotland we have neds. However in the Ferguslie area of Paisley (which is right beside this Asda branch) we have an extra strong breed of ned known as the feg. They run riff in Asda but if you go late at night but not tooooo late, say around 9 o'clock you can usually avoid them.

No matter how hard I try, I can't stay away from charity shops…read more Shelter shops are always well maintained, something I've noticed from trailing charity shops this past month. This one adheres to that generalisation, with clothes clearly marked and some high quality high street tops and trousers to be found in here. They seem to have a range of work trousers which always comes in handy. There was a man hard at work arranging books when me and my boyfriend visited, and it seemed they had a generous selection of fiction on offer, including some nearly new releases. So this place would be good to kit yourself out for work, but also great if you're looking for some reading material to get you through your tea break!
