I was killing time the other afternoon while waiting for an appointment, and I walked past the store front. Like a choir of angels singing from above, I saw the coat I knew I wanted to get a certain someone for Christmas. Best known for their high-end luxury, ultra sexy sleek, all-weather outerwear, mainly geared towards the motorsports and aviation, Belstaff is just downright timeless. Forget fast fashion, if you want investment pieces, you'll get it here. After walking past the store admiring the coat probably 5 times, I decided to go inside and interrogate the poor lone sales guy, who was super friendly and knowledgeable. I found out the following: * The name of aforementioned super sexy man coat for super special partner in mind, and the price tag * If the store doesn't have the style/colour/size you want, they will order it in for you to try with no obligation to purchase * They have their pieces altered by Sew Easy (quadruple validation - see my review here: http://www.yelp.com/biz/sew-easy-glasgow#hrid:rbAXylZcHMloLLDdcfeoXg) * He recommended other styles that I/partner would possibly like * He also recommended a size based off of the Hugo Boss suit sizing I knew my partner wears * If they don't have the product in the UK (Manchester or London), then they will expedite shipment from NY or Italy After the Spanish Inquisition was over, I was really chuffed with knowing the variety of options I had, and the lengths the store would go to make the customer happy. If only more stores had customer service like this and were less aloof... But I guess it comes with a price tag, eh?

Am sure the clothes are so good they could sell themselves, but the store design compliments the style and the guys know what they're talking about. Are you wearing Jack Wills?…read more If you were, it would say so on your t shirt. Or your head. Or your bum! Jack Wills is a crisp new addition to the higher end designer shops on Buchanan Street. Situated over two floors in a lovely building, its wicker chairs and blanched out boardwalk scenes speak of summer... Only right now, it's not summer. And if you're used to staying in Glasgow, you could argue that summer is a season that skips our fair city. A toss up between surfer dude and posh southern England totty, you will like this shop if you like clothes that are fashioned to look retro but are also unmistakably designer. It's a bit more laid back than Made in Chelsea, and mixing the styles of preppy and indie up a bit. A beautiful shop with a nice layout, but a bit too high end for the likes of myself (who takes pride in having holey Converse and buying 2 pound tatty jumpers from charity shops). I'm not a label kind of gal - but if you are, you will probably like it since it's pretty amiable and tasteful!

The shopping experience was fine and I like all the stuff they have this season however when I went to try stuff on one of the changing areas was locked and the other had no attendant and there was someone reserving the room for someone else so I had to wait a long time. Will definitely be back though.

So, with this in mind I set about scouring all available charity and retro shops for the odd bit of funky tartan. After grabbing a rather nifty pair of tartan troos from a charity shop a few months ago, I've since been on the trail of a nice tartan waistcoat to join my growing collection of man girdles... I mean, waistcoats... ahem... Aye, so I popped in here after a wee mop chop at the neighbouring Mo Hair and spotted a kick ass wee tartan job for about a tenner. Sold. This place is very reasonable and jam packed with a ton of vintage gear ranging in styles. Good service. Good prices. Good heavens I'll be back!

From old bat wing jumpers to spangly velvet prom dresses, it's enough to beat the 80s out your system by snaffling up these goodies. The store is split evenly into guys and doll's clothes, although choice for the senorita's seems to top the bill as they have an extensive range of long dresses, dating as far back as the 50s. But most of their clothing seems to be from the 70s and beyond as there are a lot of old tennis tops to be had for men, and brown prarie dresses for women. Items look evenly and fairly priced, so you're looking to spend roughly £20 on a dress, £15 on a skirt, £10 on a jumper and the tops are super cheap. For guys, they have decent priced Wrangler denim shirts (which as I'm writing this are very in), sports jackets galore (so you can look like an 80s footballer) and loads of jeans in really good condition. The rails are crammed with choice. The girls who work in here are lovely - very chipper, helpful and you can hear them singing along to their CD's! I got a plaid shirt out of here today so I was chatting away to one of the girls. She sounds like she's Spanish, I'm not sure, but she says they source their stock from as far away as Germany and Holland. It explains the variety of clothing, as you can always find something different in here. And it's cheap, so I will be taking advantage of their nautical selections since they are so affordable!

Anyway, I remembered it as a good place for off-beat gifts and knick-knacks with a select choice of funky clothing, but now they seem to have expanded the clothing lines considerably with two floors of hip goodies. I didn't have enough time to browse as I was on a particular mission this day (which was not fulfilled here), and anyway I'm way too old to wear most of the cool stuff they sell; but I've definitely bookmarked them for a return visit when I have more time to browse.

Clothes-wise it's pretty hit and miss. I don't buy as much stuff here as I used to but a space invaders jumper I got literally almost a decade ago still makes the occasional appearance on my back, as does a G-Star track top which I'll assume they don't still sell since the brand has become a bit neddy. My most recent purchase was an initially cracking t-shirt with the Back To The Future DeLorean on it, which despite costing £28 fell apart quite quickly and is now only worn to bed, making it a bit of a letdown. It's still always worth a look though, and despite it's incredibly contrived coolness I don't find it half as irritating as Topman / Topshop, and the gadget / homeware section on the bottom floor is always a good way to while away ten minutes when waiting on a train.

It's a lovely stop along the outdoor Buchanan Street pedestrian mall. With four levels, lots of retail, a few restaurants, and one great chocolatier, Princes Square Shopping Centre is worth a few hours of shopping for the ladies on vacation in Glasgow. The facility is just steps from the St. Enoch subway station on the Inner Line if you need a reference to the metro stops.

This is an upmarket shopping centre which has more expensive high street shops like Reiss, Ted Baker, Vivienne Westwood and Cos (which I'm still yet to check out!). The centre is certainly decorated to match the crowd it's looking to attract - glitzy, glam and always clean and tidy. I like the size of the centre as well - it's very dinky but still has lots of shops and is easy to navigate. There's also a host of restaurants, bars and cafés but I'll be honest - I've not visited many of them. I ate at Barca probably 4 years ago and also one of the places on the bottom floor but I think that's changed hands. One down side is that if you are dining at a restaurant on the lower level, parents will tend to let their kids run riot in the centre circle which can be a bit of a mood-killer. Princes Square doesn't have a car park due to its location but it is really close to train and subway. If you do really fancy driving, probably St Enoch or Mitchell Street are the closest car parks.

Shirts are pricey here at about £69, which is very interesting as you get free delivery if you spend over £70 online. How sneaky! There really is not much you can get for £1 either, so spend an extra £69, I think not! I did see a skirt I liked though, so thought a good formal combo could maybe be a possibility. It was £125, and due to my cheapness I could not force myself to do such a thing. Leaving empty handed, Thomas Pink is gorgeous but I just think I could get the same thing for half the price somewhere a little less highly priced.

The usual stuff that gets a bit boring year after year. I decided to go all out this year and get him something swanky. He deserved it, after all. As part of the community council, my Dad attends functions a lot, so I thought that a nice shirt might be the perfect prezzie. I didn't want your usual Burtons run of the mill stuff, so I opted for men's shirt boutique Thomas Pink, located in Royal Exchange Square. The windows look minimalistic and stylish, very dapper- Just the look I was going for! The assistant was immaculate and very helpful. Giving her my Dads measurements, she went all out to help me choose a shirt, talking to me about different collar types and sleeve lengths. I didn't really know, so I sort of let her decide for me! I left with a nice shirt. Nice, in the way that it was a shirt, and I don't really buy many of them so I wouldn't know what a nice one really looked like. It was a blue, long sleeved linen shirt, which could be worn smartly or casually. It cost me a whopping £89.00! I must have been feeling generous that day, because even typing it makes me go a wee bit funny. My Dad loved it though, and he said he could tell it was an expensive one. He wears it all the time, which is nice, and it looks really good dressed up or down. My present buying mission was a complete success! Hmm, what could I get him next year....?
