Review Highlights - TJ'S Pizza

My family can normally get about 2 meals on $40 from a chain pizza place, but the same $40 fed us for double that much from TJ's.

She NEVER came back to check on us. We put our empty glasses on the end of the table for a hint. My hubby even got up to look for her. I never saw her because I was facing a back wall. Needless to say we asked for the bill and a box. I have no need to return.

The floor was dirty, my shoes stuck to the floor. The high chair my toddler used was sticky and grimy, probably hasn't been cleaned in a while. I asked for a high chair 3 times. Meanwhile the hostess and server said they'd bring it. They didn't but they watched as I struggled with my toddler. My husband finally got the high chair, 3 feet from our table. Not sure why they kept saying they'd bring it but wouldn't. We also asked for kids menus numerous times. They had to print them and the printer wasn't working right. That honestly boggled my mind that there's no back up. Then the server came and asked what we'd like to order when we still didn't have a kids menu. I said I'd love to order and reminded her we had no kids menu. She just stared at me. I had to ask if she could just tell us what was on the kid's menu so we could order. I got a Caesar salad, about 1/3 of it was rotten lettuce, barely any green romaine. Several chunks of the ends that were inedible. A family member ordered the pick 2. They were out of green beans and pickles. I ordered a medium rare steak, it came out basically well. The flavor was alright, not the best, not awful. My husband got the Philly cheesesteak. He said the fries and sandwich were good, but the bun could've been toasted. My 2 year old got mashed potatoes. I asked for a spoon for him. She brought a huge tablespoon for him. I explained nicely again the spoon was for the two year old. She stared at me. I asked if she could get a small spoon as it's for the toddler. She came out and was kind of snippy saying "this is the smallest spoon we have" bringing the teaspoon, which is what's appropriate for a 2 year old. If our family members hadn't suggested coming here, we wouldn't. I would not recommend Lock Sixteen.

The Met has a policy that your server gets to proudly wear a crown if their name is mentioned in a five star review. Love that policy!! Wear it proudly Ashely!! The Met is a unique building downtown Lima. It was built in the late 1880's and was originally home to the The Metropolitan Bank. It has since been morphed into a restaurant with very attractive original features. The wood floors and plaster ceilings...along with the attractive decor really enhance the dinning experience! The team here is very friendly, professional and welcoming. Ashley was outstanding. She hustled, knew her menu and had great recommendations. Ashley was very attentive and helped us enjoy the evening. I appreciated Liz stopping by and welcoming us. Liz shared lots of history and helped us appreciate the facility. The Met has a large food menu that has something for everyone. They have a large selection of beverages and specialty cocktails. All at reasonable prices. We started with a couple of Mule drinks. One was a designer St. Patrick's Day Mule and their specialty Met Mule. Both were very tasty, cool and refreshing . We started with the Focaccia bread appetizer. It had a lightly golden/chewing top with a soft and moist inside. Liz said that they make the bread fresh three times a day. The bread had a slight olive oil taste with a mild amount of Italian herbs. The soft whipped butter was a nice add. The side salad had lots of fresh spring greens. There was a few tasty tomatoes and lots of stronger tasting onions. The thin Parmesan cheese shreds were an excellent touch. The house ranch dressing was very smooth/light/creamy moderately thin with a mild ranch taste. My wife had the chicken bacon ranch flatbread. The crust was thin and crispy. She really liked the ranch house made sauce and how it accented the meat toppings. I had the Met Meatloaf which had an outstanding meat flavor. The meat was made with Italian sausage which had a slightly spicy kick. It was moist and tender to go along the beefy taste. The smooth red sauce on top was slightly sweet & spicy. It accented the meat nicely. The mashed potatoes were real with lumps, eyes and minute peel pieces. Very smooth and delicious! The grilled asparagus had a slight crisp to go along with the tender stalk. Not much seasoning detected...just a nice olive oil taste. Overall a fantastic dinner experience. We sat street level and watched the pedestrians come & go while enjoying the decor of this unique facility! The menu is large and the food and drinks are outstanding. A special trip to The Met in downtown Lima is worth a try!

We arrived at 11:30 and left at 2. They were nice to let us linger. Everything we had was terrific. Soups are made in-house. I'm thinking most all things on the very large menu were probably very good. They seem to care about the details. We also shared some ice cream cookie sundae concoction that was 5*. Metered parking on the street and there was a free lot but it was full. Meters were $2 for two hours. Nice staff and there were no staff shortages! Lilly our server was perfect. If we pass through again we will stop in! The bar area is exquisite.

Employees wear gloves and had plexi across the food ordering and prep area. Now the next and more important part - the food and restaurant. Lots of great options on the menu. The staff was friendly and was nicely treated. I went w the mushroom pizza minus the chicken. You can make your own or modify any pizzas on the menu. Prep was quick and was impressed that by the time I got our drinks the pizzas were coming out. You can pick dipping sauce which I went w Red Hot sauce which is 2 containers. We took our order to go and once we got home. When we opened them I was excited to take. But since the car ride was smelling good heading home. Taking my first bite was pleasantly impressed that this pizza was quite tasty. I enjoyed the tangy red sauce and very fresh pan crust. Fluffy w. A crunchy outer crust. Veggies were fresh and cheese was good w an added feta cheese touch together w the mozzarella. I was overall very happy with how rapid the process was to get our food ordered and most important the pizza was quite good. My only drawback is they need to hand cleaner available since the drink area is touch screen make your own soda station. Love the set up just wasn't comfortable touching the screen with respect to the health crisis. Should have hand sanitizer in the area. Sorry it's really a 4.5 but I'm trying to be clear with my review. This would not stop me from coming here btw... everything else was great and would recommend coming here for pizza. Good experience all around!

Dad ordered the Lasagna and side salad with thousand island dressing and water. I ordered the Italian Sub with chips and a Voodoo Ranger Atomic Pumpkin beer and water. After a long wait, a different server (let's call her server B) came to the table and said "could you remind me what you ordered". Several minutes later server B brought dad's salad. Several minutes later the Han this, Server A (who had walked past 2-3 times since server B had reordered our food), saw my beer was 2/3 empty and asked if I wanted another. Mind you, she never apologized for losing our order or even faked a sign of shock at the length of time we had been sitting without having received our orders. My dad finished his salad, I finished my beer. Server A then approached the couple seated in the booth behind me dad and sat down, proceeding to complain about how she was so busy all day. I went to the restroom. Server A was still seated at the neighboring booth when I returned. There was no food at our table yet either. We left. I didn't approach Server A nor did she approach us as we stood up to leave (she was seated facing our direction). As a 20 year veteran server in family style restaurants and corporate restaurants alike, Server A's complete lack of regard or respect for us was very disappointing. She should not be in this line of work. At best, she is better suited to hosting or bussing. I wouldn't even trust her to be a food runner.

Through the months it has progressed into a full-service coffee shop along with dine-in service for food. Positives: The interior of the restaurant is clean and inviting and it has a good flow to the space. Food-The taste of the food was all great. Frozen Hot Chocolate was a big hit with the kiddos. All of the wait staff including the chef were very friendly and went over and above to make sure we had a great experience. Places to improve upon: My family of 4 (2 adults/2 kids) ordered 2 burgers (One regular and one small version), one large fry (split between all 4 of us), one side salad, 1 beer, 1 roast beef sandwich and then 1 small frozen hot chocolate. I know that prices have gone up but these was not as expected. We paid including tip over $70 for our meal. Definitely not family friendly/affordable. All of the sandwiches do not include sides and the sandwiches don't stand by themselves as far as quality/quantity for the price they are charging. Yes the food is great but not for that cost. The Station Burger does not bring an $11 flavor. Huge let down. The kids menu is void of any healthy options for children as far as the main entree. They at least try to make up with the sides applesauce or Gogurt. Overall I would love to bring the family back for breakfast since that menu is a little more affordable/price point for quality of food served. Its a great place to eat, just a few places to improve on. Best wishes to this newer restaurant in Lima!!!
