Anyway, the other insurance company was USAA and they recommended Auto Pro of Freehold. Now I live nearby and have never even seen this shop but I gave them a try. A very knowledgeable technician inspected my car and gave me a reasonable estimate. Once my claim was approved by other insurance I went ahead with the work at Auto Pro. When the repairs were complete I was beyond happy with the results. The car looks excellent!! Looks like nothing ever happened to it! Thank you Auto Pro of Freehold

I chose to keep my vehicle and take it to another repair shop. However, when I picked it up, my car was severely damaged from the back--parts had been removed and not reinstalled. I asked if they could at least reinstall the lights so I could drive the vehicle safely, and I was told no unless I paid additional fees. I questioned why parts were removed when the insurance had not approved those repairs. It became clear they assumed I would accept the total loss and not question their actions. They removed parts that did not need to be removed and charged the insurance for unnecessary work. This feels extremely dishonest and unprofessional. My vehicle was in great condition before, but after their actions, it was left vandalized and unsafe. This experience has completely destroyed my trust in this auto shop and in insurance-based repairs overall.

Plenty of places in Brooklyn have lots of bad reviews, so I went with Malibu due to their lack of abundantly bad reviews. Diagnosed as a rat-chewed wiring harness. Estimated at $390 to fix, which is exactly what I paid. Bit skeptical around how much work/time was actually involved (e.g., I'm a dude who knows nothing about cars & it could have just been a loose ECM wiring plug or a single chewed wire), but at the end of the day, my car is now running perfectly & I didn't have to spend $1k+, so I don't really care how much time actually went into it. Full wiring harness replacements can be thousands of dollars. Also got a tire patched and swapped out for $20, which is cheaper than what a tire repair shop would have charged. Great communication & updates... called in the AM for drop off via tow truck & they promptly kept me updated on progress throughout the day and notified me immediately when my car was ready. Also worth noting (which is pretty reasonable) -- they charge a daily car storage fee once work is done after 24 hours. My dream of not having to deal with street sweeping for a week was unfortunately shattered pretty quickly because they were so quick. Another reason I went with Malibu is because they have a spacious workspace that can hold a lot of cars -- lots of other repair shops have 1-2 lifts in what's effectively a residential sized two car garage. Malibu has a massively sized car warehouse that can hold multiple cars being worked on, and has space for other cars around still. Entire staff is eastern euro (not sure the specific flavor), but they were friendly. I picked my car up right at closing, and got blasted with cig smoke in the garage, which felt appropriate for a car shop closing up for the day. 5/5, would come back!

This is after calling and visiting 3 other places that were supposedly open according to google, but actually decided to stay shut - likely because it had snowed fairly heavily. Anyway, I was lucky enough to get Elton on the phone who told me to come on in for my oil change and I got there 6 minutes later. First, he cleaned the snow off my car. Offered me a seat in the waiting room in the back of the shop. After fiddling on my phone for a bit, I decided to go and check on the status and just as I stood up off the chair Elton was walking in to let me know it was done. 15 minutes, maybe, for the oil change. Synthetic for a 2024 car - was $90. Reasonable. Not do it yourself cheap, but not outrageous either. Honestly, no appointment, weekend, bad weather, arrive and receive service immediately, friendly. I'm literally writing this immediately after leaving because they deserve the praise. Also, there was a beautiful.. I mean absolutely beautiful Chevrolet inside the garage, I'd guess from the 80's, but it could have been late 70. Heck, it could even have been early 90's, I have no idea. All I know is 20 years ago I'd call it a piece of junk but today I couldn't take my eyes off it. Funny how that happens. Anyway, I digress a second time. Hylan Auto Repair, Elton, thank you for taking care of this chore that I've had on my todo list for 2 months longer than it should have been on there. Next time I know where to go to get it done in time. Happy new year, too!
