Pretty worth it if you ask me. They are limited on drinks, but next door is a liquor store, and the lady allowed us to buy drinks (juices for the kids) and bring back into her restaurant. Parking is extremely limited - about two spaces total. Inside, there is a decent amount of seating. The menu is extensive, but we opted for a variety of street tacos. Unfortunately they were out of most specialty tacos like cabeza and tripa (tripe). We did Carne Asada, Al pastor, Carnitas, and Pollo. Each style was solid - authentic, small though, with excellent corn tortilla and good amount of meat for the $1.25-$1.75 price per each. Everything was made fresh to order. Salsas were almost all gone when we were there at normal lunch time. You didn't have the option for regular to-go plastic sauce containers, only plastic bags, which made salsa handling quite difficult. Super delicious! We recently had TJ's cater a party for us and the food was great. We order for 100 guest and they all went back for more several times, no joke. Everyone raved about the food, service, a quality. We even had left overs....yummy! Daisy arrived ready to go quesadillas, beans, rice, salsas, agua fresca, pepino, rabanos, cebollas, cilantro, chilies asado, limes...everything....they started cooking and the rest is history. Food is ok but the restaurant itself needs a good wipe down. I think it's important to keep all areas of where someone eats clean - I know the city of Jurupa Valley in certain areas there are lots/houses with a lot of dirt & can get windy so not sure if it's a 1x occurrence. TJ Tacos serves up some mean tacos. They're small, but inexpensive and delicious. They run about $1.35 to $1.50 per taco and are made fresh. I always stop by after climbing at the Quarry and being beaten down by the rocks. It's a great way to finish off the day. The place is simple and straightforward. Menu has only a few items. You order, pay, sit down, they bring the tacos to you, and you go to town like a hungry puma on a defenseless baby polar bear. They usually have a large vat of horchata sitting in the fridge which is also quite delicioso. Like the nectar of the chupacabra (chupacabra is Spanish for tooth fairy). If you're looking for some beer to wash down those tacos, you can walk about 15 feet to the liquor store next door they have a large selection of draft and import girlie magazines....errr.....beers. heh heh. Parking in the front can be pretty difficult so just pull to the back of the place and there's plenty of space on the dirt driveway. read more

Been coming to this place for about 3 years now. Food quality is quite high. This is a niche type restaurant. If you don't like street tacos or don't understand the concept of Mexican street tacos, you will probably be confused by the unusual layout. I am hispanic and I appreciate the effort to replicate a Tijuana street vendor dining experience. The price has crept up, along with overall inflation everywhere else, but TJ Tacos still has good value for your money. The taco artisans prepare your food to your order, and there is a lady making corn tortillas from scratch. These are the tortillas they use for all tacos and quesadillas. They have 3 or 4 types of fresh salsa, grilled onions, peppers, and they also have custom items like mulas, quesadillas, and lengua, tripas, as well as carne asada and al pastor tacos. Really very simple menu, and very well executed. The best thing about this place is that the flavor profile they achieve on these tacos is quite amazing, and quite on par with actual Tijuana street tacos. My wife and I are both seniors, and when I asked about a senior discount, there was none. I still like this place, even though the dining room is quite small and feels cramped. The fountain machine is sandwiched between the taco station and the cashier's station. Again, very small space, and feels dated, but I just come here for the tacos, and in Three years, they have not once disappointed me. My husband and I went on a Saturday and were stopped before we entered because they only offer outdoor seating after a certain time. It was not big deal though since the sun was setting so it wasn't too hot. The full menu wasn't available so we could only order tacos. A worker explained the schedule to me and how it works but I didn't understand it, so just be ready to eat outside of that happens to be one of the evenings that they do that. We ordered tacos de carne asada y al pastor. They cost $1.25 each and were on the small side, but they had plenty of meat so the price matched the quantity. The asada was good and the al pastor was even better! The salsas were tasty and the service was friendly and quick. It's a total hole in the wall and I would definitely go back. read more

Ignore the look of the place from the outside, focus on the A rating from the county if you only eat in sterile, corporate establishments, and focus on the food. Oh, the yummy, yummy food. We came here for a quick and cheap bite after climbing at the Quarry, since it is close, and good enough to get a shout out in the guidebook (plus a friend had been here many times before). I had the carne asada, which was, carne asada, the lengua, which was pretty tasty and not at all dry like it can be sometimes, and the cabeza, which was juicy and fatty, exactly like it should be. And if you are squeamish, just think that the carne, cabeza, and lengua are all different cuts of beef (don't get into it any more than that), the pollo is chicken, don't get the tripas (don't ask, just don't order it if you are not adventurous) and the rest are various cuts of pork. Remember the A rating when you walked in. And then setting in for a few delicious bites of meat on tiny tortillas with onion and cilantro. The tacos are cheap, but they are also small, so an order of 4 would be a good starting spot for most folks. read more

I heard great things about this place and how great the food tasted so my wife and I decided to check it out. We arrived to order and the employees seemed unhappy to have customers. They rushed us to order and I soon as we got our meal all the employees went to a back room and did not check on us once. The food was not very good either. The meat was gummy the Horchata seem old and unflavored. The salsa bar seemed to have been out all day the ice was melted and there was about 3 warm bowl of salsa floating in a warm bath of water. Good little hole in the wall place. It helps if you can speak Spanish. We liked the carnitas and asada. I would not recommend the pastor or cabeza. We came here twice the first time it was good, even though the place is not clean at all. My potato tacos were delicious, I got 4 with some yummy beans and rice, my BF got some tacos he liked. We decided to come back...... mmmmmmm we shouldn't have, I ordered the same thing, but I got a whole different plate, I got 3 tacos instead this time with some runny nasty beans, my bf ordered the torta ahogada that was super salty and made him real sick. Authentic Mexican Food! The tortas ahogadas are the closest I've had to Guadalajara tortas ahogadas. The asada tacos were missing a bit of flavor, but after adding the salsa, the flavor was spot on. The food did take slightly long to be ready however, im ok with that because it was all being made from scratch. The place itself is really small with only a couple of tables, but it seemed like most people took their orders to go because we were still able to get a table and eat there.
