I love the authenticity of this wonderful restaurant. The freshest fish I have ever had was put on the bbq and grilled right there in front of us. And wow was it delicious. 2 glasses of fantastic Vino Verde, a delicious tuna salad, the grilled sea bass (for 2) l, a large bottle of sparkling water and espresso to finish all for E58 - and did I mention the wonderful service. The first time we came to Tito's we ate outside. This time with the fog rolling in and a big party of Seven we opted to indoors. The stag lead by ande couldn't have been more accommodating. Good English too! And of course I was sporting my orange alternate FC Porto jersey and they happen to be wearing them tonight against.... That team in Lisboa... what's their name??? Not sure if that gave us any brownie points or not but they were wonderful. The food came in waves starting with jumbo prawns then calamari so get we got a second order, more octopus salad the sea bass finally grilled octopus with veg. Everyone commented how fresh and very well presented and cooked the food was. We felt happy and relieved as this was our recommendation. So a party of 3 on a summer night alfresco, or a party of 7 in their lovely dining hall... you can't go wrong! A primeira vez que viemos ao Tito's comemos no exterior. For one of our last meals in Porto, we ventured out to Tito 2 to get our seafood fix. Their original location, Tito 1, is next door. We dropped in on a Monday (12:45pm) and were seated right away. Our server spoke English. Wanted to try some percebes (barnacles) but they were out. Would have tried their amêijoas a bulhão pato (clams) but you can't order a half portion. - Porto tónico (4,50€) - mix of port and soda tonic. Light, easy drink. - Sopa de peixe (4,00€) - fish soup with bread. Nice start to our meal. - Lulas salteadas (7,00€) - sautéed squid (it says fried squid on the menu). Fresh, cooked perfectly. - 2x Sardinhas (2,00€ each) - we ordered two sardines but ended up getting four. These were great. - 1/2 Dose polvo à lagareiro (17,00€) - grilled octopus with potatoes, black olives and green peppers. Portion was more than enough to share between two. Grilled octopus was succulent with the perfect amount of char. Reasonably priced, good quality seafood. 4.5 stars. read more

Spoiler Alert! This is a review for Tito 1 (Tito 2 was closed today.) Same ownership. Tito 1 predates Tito 2. Despite this provenance, there's no Yelp presence for Tito I?. A cold blustery day, we were seated inside for lunch shortly after opening. The front dining area was attractive and welcoming. The server spoke English and explained the menu well. We started with the octopus salad w/paprika and small fried sardines. Both were amazing. Entrees were grilled mackerel and grilled salmon. A big plate of small boiled potatoes accompanied the dishes. Enjoyed the meal and unhurried but attentive service. Like other restaurants in this street, the charcoal grilling is done on the street. Would definitely return on next trip! read more

After my friends and I reflected on our time in Portugal we concluded that our meal at Tito 2 was the best meal we had there... so it goes without saying that I do recommend going. We did go to Matosinhos with the sole purpose of eating some fresh seafood and while I'm sure most of the restaurants there provide that service, we ended up picking Tito II, and I'm glad we did! The food portions are huge (they bring the fresh fish out to you before they grill it so you can really go with what floats your boat) and the prices are reasonable (in my opinion)! We got a sea bream and another fish that I honestly can't recall, we ended up ordering some sides because they came with the fish, a sausage dish, some squid and tuna pate as appetizers with the bread that came with the table, and olives. There was 3 of us so you can imagine we really had to focus on eating and eating smart to get the most out of our chosen meal (we had to forgo some of the sides in order to really put away the fish) and I have to say I was really proud of us. Besides the tuna pate basically being just tuna salad and the sausage being slightly salty, everything else was absolute perfection, even down to the olives. These things happen sometimes... For the absent-minded waitress who ignored us, deserted us, and disappeared, half our order never delivered, no stars. For the grilled sole which, after being carried around the restaurant and wrongly taken to two other tables, finally reaching us after we hollered "That's ours!", one star. The meal was excellent. They had the Saint Pierre fish and we both liked it very much. The service was good although some servers have very limited English, but that wasn't a real problem. We figured it out. The price is right and plenty of fish selection. Negatives: They didn't have cocktails, only beer and wine. Came during "sardine season" in June. The fish were huge and so fresh. They cook it out in front of the restaurant. I'd recommend the squid, sardines. The tiger shrimp was a disappointment. We received rave reviews from many people to visit this restaurant, so we took a 20€ Uber ride with excitement and visions of a romantic dinner on our last night in Porto. That's where the romance ended. Our waitress took our order, delivered 1/2 carafe of vinho verde, bread and olives. Then she disappeared. No water (after 3 requests), no cocktails, no calamari, no caldo verde. Everyone around us had their full order. Our fish finally arrived after a different server paraded it around to every other table...by process of elimination they figured out it was ours. By then she was angry and unceremoniously filleted our sole, put it on our plates, and stormed off. (Thus, no mouthwatering pictures to post...) Yet another server came to our table when we were finished and seemed surprised we didn't stay for coffee or dessert. We couldn't wait to leave! As we embarked on the long journey back to our hotel, we passed all the restaurants nearby...people were laughing and enjoying their meals and I couldn't help but regret our choice. Try the Camarao Tigre (Cevettes Giantes) if you like giant prawns! This was the best meal we ate while in Portugal. They are tastier than any Maine lobster i've eaten and they are prepared without butter. You are asked how many prawns you would like since the seafood is priced by the kilogram. Walking along Matosinhos before 7 pm deciding which restaurants to choose and this was the only one where couples were already seated inside and outside before the opening time. Most of the restaurants were not open yet for dinner. It's a small place yet almost all tables were already marked Reserved. The server showed us the fish available in their ice packed window at front. We chose 3 salmonets, cold shrimps for appetizers and grilled sardines. Had wine to go with our food. When our order came, people started coming. Going to their reserved tables. Suddenly it was busy. Good thing we came early or we won't have a table. Overall, we enjoyed our fish dinner. I really enjoyed my lunch that I ate here. I ordered the fish soup, grilled sardines and a salad. The sardines were very tasty and it was easy to take out the center bones. Wow, just wow. This place is the place, especially on a Sunday for lunch with all the locals going there with families, kids running around etc. A block from the see, in a street where lots of similar shops exist, they have seating outside, and they grill fish for you outside as well. We had a lot of different seafood, and specialiy dishes. Grilled octopus, SO BIG it could have been for 4 people, grilled squids, fish eggs, calamari, whole fishes, bulots (don t know it in english), vino verde and even deserts... the whole combo, BAM. So good. Friendly atmosphere all around and yes many locals happening to be there, We were off season so I imagine it can be quite different in summer, but when we went in October it was truly perfect. A little chilly, but that s it. I highly recommend this place and do reserve before getting there as it gets busy and people do tend to stay long. read more

Wonderful dinner. I was in the mood for shrimp and saw their huge grill outside the restaurant. I asked the cook if he spoke English. He didn't but found a waitress who did. She was a great help. Rather than ordering off the menu we told her what we wanted and she delivered- including a delicious sauce made from olive oil and garlic with some other spices I didn't recognize.
