That's exactly what I walked into when I was checking out FreeStyle CrossFit. This box has to get a lot of drop-ins from out of towners. They are right downtown and super easy to get to. I happen to be a new local and am on the hunt for my new box. I was welcomed right away and signed in. I met the coach/owner for the Saturday class and shown where to put my stuff, bathrooms, etc. The space itself is small. Very simple, garage style gym. The movements were broken down before the workout and I felt like I was in great hands with the members and coach. I just moved to the area and I'm not used to the heat. Towards the end of the workout (which was a partner WOD: workout of the day) I actually had to sit down because the heat was getting to me and my vision was blurring. Instead of pushing me to keep going, I was encouraged to sit in front of the fan and drink more water. That says a lot about what type of community and support this gym offers. I'm still checking out a few other spots, so event if FreeStyle CrossFit doesn't become my new home, they certainly will see me back for a drop-in now and then.

Most of the time I had to use a cane or walker and a scooter when I was out in public. Shawn and I discussed my situation and set goals. I wanted to lose weight, build my strength and hopefully walk better. Shawn setup online training sessions, which included videos for me to follow along. The online training was simple to follow and he was available to answer my questions whenever I needed his help He gave nutritional advice as well as instructions on what I would need to complete my workouts. His training app helps me track my nutritional intake as well as my steps and workouts. I use my iWatch but a Fitbit would work too. Since I started 2 months ago, working out 3 times a week I am now able to walk 3,500 - 4,000 steps a day without any trouble. I no longer need any device to help me walk. I even rode my bike a mile! I haven't been able to do that in over 3 years. I have more energy, wake up early and I've lost 37lbs! I highly recommend Shawn as your trainer. My son and daughter-in-law have used him as well with great success. They both do 5k runs, hikes, ski and are in great shape. I can't do all that but hey at 60 I'm doing more than I ever expected I would.

My schedule is crazy so it's easy for me to do a morning workout. So Sidney Wilson will arrive when you need him. Let me just tell you this. If you want a change and need a push. Sidney Wilson won't hesitate he is going to: shove, drag, murder you, and give you the encouragement to keep pushing yourself. You will go one week saying, "I got this" to him telling you we are: "lifting 90 pounds now." I honestly didn't think I could do that. I would think. this guy is on one today. But he pushed my body to physical gain the strength that I've never seen before. Everyone at work could tell a difference. The moment I got on his diet I felt better, and I felt lighter after four days! Like everything about me. I drank enough water and I was eating the right kind of foods. Of course I hit a mark where I was not loosing anymore weight, and we figured out I wasn't eating enough. If I ever had questions about if something really works or not he would explain how it does. It'll be behind the 7-11. This location is older and smaller, but it definitely has everything you need to get the basics done and more. The place is pretty clean, and the staff has been friendly to me for the most part. They have plenty of cardio equipment and a surprising number of squat racks here. Nice! They manage to pack quite a bit into a small space. There is more than enough here to get a good workout in no matter what you're doing. It's kind of wild, but (**knocks furiously on wood**) it never seems to be crazy busy there. Usually, the first two days of the year are pretty jammed packed everywhere. Not here. It was nice to be able to get in what I need in 45 minutes to an hour. I do love that water bottle refill at the water fountain! I like this place. I will be back, I'm sure. :P 4 solid stars.

Seems like a pretty poor business decision to rather collect $20 for a one day pass instead of focusing on signing them up for a recurring monthly membership. I would have most likely signed up, but I'm not about to spend $20 to try out a gym, especially when the Las Vegas gym right across the road offers a week free pass. The staff was all too excited to exclaim that the free day pass is only for select locations, and they're not one of them. They wanted to send me all the way to Henderson, LOL! I'll pass and go with the competition across the street.

Alma has made sure to work with me on the meal plans to work with my schedule. They also used what I have available while making sure to keep my options varied with different recommendations in case I want to switch things up. They have helped me with my portion sizing and general understanding of how much I should be eating in a day for where my body is at with different macros such as how much protein and carbs I should be intaking. Michael has been great at shaping the program to my needs after the initial assessment. He worked with me to understand the results that I wanted to see and has given me guidance to maximize results in those areas. He showed me how to really focus on developing the body parts I wanted to improve on with a more in depth explanation things such as the the range of motion I should be using to properly stretch and exhaust the muscles and explanation about fatigue. Also he's very friendly and easy to talk to. As long as you are willing to put in the work and follow the nutrition/workout plans you will see the best results possible.
