Again, scheduling them to come back out was an issue. Determined needed a new major part. Was without AC for over a week. Meantime weather in the upper 90s. Scheduling again was a major issue for the delay. I would have given 1 star but the people who came to install equipment were actually terrific and apologetic.

This has been the most horrible experience. They were called out to my property by my Home…read moreWarranty company. They showed up January 2nd. The technician was pleasant and explained to me the issue. (The one star isn't for him). He informed me that the part needed to be ordered. Okay, no problem. Their customer service by far needs some serious attention. I received a call on January 10th (less than 24 hour notice) telling me to be at my home at a certain time. I informed them that it was short notice and the earliest I could do was 3. So I was told my time would be between 3-7pm. Okay no problem. On the next day, January 11th, I take off early, book it across town to make sure I'm here by 3pm. The time passes by. I called, and no answer (it's difficult to get in touch with these people). By 6:44, I'm sending an email. So there you have it, NO CALL, NO SHOW. January 12th at 10:43am, I get this response, "I apologize for not calling yesterday but there was a problem with the supply house. The part they provided my tech will not work, and we had to order the correct replacement part. It should be available on Friday - and pending delivery we can install on Saturday. We will call on Friday to confirm that the part has arrived, and schedule a time for installation on Saturday." Well, Friday comes, no call or an email at all. Now mind you, they first came out on the 2nd. January 16th, I send them an email at 5:35am asking for an update since NO ONE CALLED ON FRIDAY. No response to my email. I had someone call me the following day and once again, no 24 hour notice telling me to be at my house at an early time. I told them no since when I left work early, no one called or showed up and again, no one called on Friday. So she tells me they will give me a call back. Fast forward to today, the 19th and I get a call at close to 4pm telling me to be home tomorrow from 2-6. Again, no 24 hour notice. I told her I can't take off again early and I have accommodated them, they need to accommodate me since I was already stood up and then on a second occasion wasn't contacted as I was told I would be. I told her the earliest I could do is 3pm. Of course, I couldn't fit in that schedule at all. But considering how they have already inconvenienced me, you would think they would accommodate my request. So she informs me that they will call me on Friday to schedule a time for Saturday. What ever happened to giving a person a 48 hour notice? I don't get it. I called my home warranty company to request another technician because this is by far poor customer service. Then when I came on here and saw the reviews, I was even more disappointed. And I told them to stop using them, the reviews are TERRIBLE.

We moved into a "flip" house in January 2019, the house was originally built in 1981 and during the…read moreremodel there were 2 wall removed and required ducting to be added for the downstairs living room. The registers at the end of the added ducts were getting little to no airflow, so 1 week after moving in we called a popular Woodlands area HVAC company. They came and looked at a few things and tried changing the fan speed to in crease the flow. While they were here they also notified me that we needed to move the Thermostat to a better location. He also said he would have someone contact us to come out and quote us on a whole new re-ducting because the flippers put the system together with a bunch of old parts and that is why the flow was bad. All for $122.50 I thought that was awesome and never having owned a 2 story house before I just figured it was normal to be freezing in the downstairs living room and needed to use a heater by my bedroom every night... Heat rises right? 3 months later we were tired of going upstairs to the back of the hall to change the A/C settings and decided we wanted a WiFi thermostat. So I called that SAME company to schedule suggested the Thermostat move and get a quote on the re-ducting (they never called). I got a funny feeling after they hung up on me and said they only had someone available for the re-ducting quote and a different person would need to do the thermostat move the next week. I decided to look at other HVAC service providers. BOY AM I HAPPY I DID, first they encouraged us to go ahead and buy the NEST with 2 remote thermostats ourselves because they can't get it any cheaper; and they had a opening to install the NEST the next day. Robert came to the house he immediately went to work and talked me through everything that was planned. He explained that using the NEST with 2 remote thermostats; allows us to choose which of the 3 thermostats drives the system. He also explained that moving the main thermostat would not have helped our situation because it is best for the main to be by the return air for proper airflow. He not only installed the NEST he helped me set up the App on my laptop and my phone. So back to those low flow ducts that will require full re-ducting of the whole house?? Robert went and inspected and found that one of the 2 ducts in question was kinked SO HE FIXED IT. *** He did confirm that it is a $#!+ $#@w in the attic *** He also confirmed something we already knew; which is that the equipment looks to be in good condition for now but we should expect a full replacement of the A/C system within the next 5-7 years (we knew this and budgeted for this when we bought the house). Basically re-ducting would be a waste of money at this point and not make things better it would just be expensive and require cutting into walls and reconstruction on this NEW to us house. Long story Short ROBERT IS THE BOMB in 2 hours he installed the new Thermostats got us set up on our devices and fixed our duct problem. Our house is comfortable and I no longer need a blanket to sit in my living room or a heater to sleep ! ! ! All for the low-low price of $195.00. THANK YOU and with them being in business as long as they have been; I am sure this is who I will use when it comes time to replace the A/C in the OLD (NEW to us) house.

This review, written in June of 2024, is for work done over a year ago. The reason for the delay…read moreis that I only recently had time to fix the multiple mistakes this company made. When I went into the attic to correct a poorly installed booster fan (details below), I also discovered dangerous wiring in violation of electrical codes. See those wire connections near the duct? By code, those are supposed to be inside a junction box that is secured to house framing. But the way this was done is a FIRE and ELECTROCUTION hazard, should someone bump up against it or disturb the connection. That is what prompted me to write this review. Earlier problems: The way this all started was the house I purchased had poor air circulation to one corner of the house, as identified during the home inspection. Prior to closing, the owner had Affordable American (AA) install a booster fan. Unfortunately, they installed it in the wrong location. Instead of installing it upstream of a Y-junction, they installed it in one of the branch circuits of the Y. The problem with that is instead of boosting the air coming from the evaporator fan, it sucks air out of the other side of the Y branch. In effect, creating an endless loop of air that never gets cooled (or heated). When I notified AA of their mistake, they inspected it and quoted their full price for such work, saying it was over a year and why did I wait so long. I don't know why that should matter since it was still a faulty installation on their part. After much haggling, they finally agreed to do it for half the original quote. I then tried to schedule the work, but after many phone calls over a period of weeks, I could never get them to come out. It is clear to me that they had no intention of standing behind their work. In the end, I'm glad they didn't because I never would have seen the shoddy workmanship of the wiring mentioned earlier. I'm glad others seem to have had good experiences with Affordable American, but based on my experience, I would at least have someone knowledgeable check their work for code violations and safety issues. And don't pay them without an independent inspection as they do not stand behind their work.

Unfortunately, I was told that my compressor was out when it actually wasn't! I asked for the…read moreowner to call me and he never did! First, the repair guy said $1700, or $2500 for a new one! The next business day I asked if it was under warranty? He said yes - but it would cost $1000 and 10 to 15 days! Idk but my gut isn't buying it!

Eric Harper came out for A/C Maintenance a few months ago and originally stated everything was fine despite me stating it was not cooling properly in different rooms. He explained that's how the air ducts were built. Obviously felt like a curious explanation since I didn't have cooling issues prior. He took a second look and stated 1 air damper motor was not working properly and recommended it'd be replaced for ~$600. Air Damper motors cost nowhere this much, and I get labor costs, that's fine we went w/ them to get it replaced. Eric came back , replaced it in ~10 minutes, didn't say much of anything and left. No big deal, things appear to be working again. Two months later our AC is not heating and cooling properly again. Decided to go w/ our original builder's AC Company since our warranty and maintenance package w/ Douglas had expired. Original builder told me the motor's wiring was not done properly, and it appears 2 other damper motors are not working. I doubt the other 2 coincidentally stopped working as soon as Douglas left. Douglas had also replaced our coils a few years back and was working fine, but the original builder told me they just left open pipes lying in our attic. He said he gets why they did it to replace the coils, but they should still replace it back. Appears like shoddy, lazy work all around, would definitely not go back to them for AC repairs.
