All I can say is Yay!! I love this store and so does my dog (he is usually terrified of stores). The staff here are so great and I find the prices to be right where I like them to be. I shop here not only because the big stores have been known to commit cruelty to animals but because it's a nice feeling to support the local guys. read more

Very disappointed with their service today. No one came to help us and were stocking shelves. Seemed that the shelves were more important. Finally found someone to ask about cat treats and they didn't even look at me and told me it's in the cat side on the other side. Not impressed. We will think twice about going to that location now. read more

Big selection which is nice. Staff was helpful but seemed like they needed more people on the floor. A lady at the register couldn't help me because the other sales lady was with another customer. They helped me get my purchases to my car which I appreciated. read more

Went here for the first time and received excellent service and information on their wide range of raw food selection. I recently moved over to a raw diet for my mini pin so it was helpful to get some guidance and they sure were helpful! Prices were about average to another pet store I used to buy from downtown. Plus if you buy 10 packs of raw food, they'll throw a pack in for free. Oh and don't forgot to check in every time you go there to buy something. You can get a bag of dry salmon treats for FREE for your cute lil furry baby which my mini pin loved!!! Thank you for a great experience at your store. read more

This place has legit natural dog treats and a lot of toys and such.

I love the staff here, they are super helpful and knowledgeable. Our spoiled rotten cat gets the best of the best food from here, and we are happy to support this place. read more

There are few times in life when a store is so expertly crafted that it is nothing short of genius.

The situation didn't improve, so about a year ago I switched to a home delivery service instead. The prices are about the same, but everyone is super friendly and polite. read more

Whenever we run out of biodegradable poop bags we make a trip to Tisol on Main. We also like to stock up on chews for the dogs while we're here. They carry bully sticks in various sizes and even have free range lamb ears, tracheae, and bones. On a recent visit we got a nice sampler for free that included a variety of pet treats and special bottled water for dogs. Yeah, it's that kind of store, but I like it. read more

A fabulous pet store that has a top-notch selection of food and accessories. They have high quality cat and dog food here without all the by-products and crap in it. Lots of collars, toys, leashes, cat trees - you name it. When we went there we also received great (and non-intrusive) service. read more

To be honest, I tend to avoid pet stores because I sometimes feel they gouge people with their prices compared to a drug store or a big chain, however I decided that my almost 7-year old cat (having eaten a less than stellar diet this past year) needed to get back on track with stuff that's good for her. Although I still had to balk a bit at the price of her Science Diet for fatty cats, I was pretty impressed to see the signs up about the voluntary recall of the brands I use to get her due to a Salmonella issue. Also, I found replacement cardboard for her scratching play wheel toy that I couldn't find anywhere else. Because my first trip there was so pleasant, I went back to buy the Furminator de-shedding tool and again, super happy with the helpful advice I got from Kat on this product. I have a feeling all my cat's food will be coming from here from now on. read more

Big place but like many pet stores in Vancouver its sadly lacking in quality rat food.

I love Tisol! I buy my dog food from here. The price is reasonable and the service is soo friendly. I have a coupon card to get a free bag of dog food after I buy a number of bags. They always help you carry the heavy bag to the car and load it for you. read more

Back when I had pets I would get the basics here. The staff is friendly, they love animals and the prices are good. When I needed help or suggestions for the well being of my pets they were there to help without hesitation. Very well stocked of items of quality. read more

Love this store, well organized and the staff is super friendly. Have been visiting this place for many years and they do deserve 5 stars, highly recommended. read more

Update: I appreciate the friendly staff members, the response I received here and the new signs in the store, but they don't really address the specific product I have an issue with and they are generic to all products. It needs to be specific. It's a round bone that physically gagged my dog and could have killed him. It's dangerous and not something anyone would have guessed would happen... I'm not sure whether carrying the item is worth the risk but at the very least this specific bone should state that it should not be given to any dogs with heads that size or smaller... could have KILLED my dog and didn't do anything to FIX the situation in the future. After consultation with a helpful employee, I bought a circular shaped tendon. After giving it to my puppy he quickly had it wrapped around his head like a gag ball and was whining/yelping/trying to bark. If I hadn't been there I think my puppy could have died. The next day I went in and described what had happened to another friendly employee after I asked for a manager (there wasn't one at the time). He acted like he would fix the situation quickly, I suggested a warning that it's not safe for small dogs if not supervised closely, and he removed the box from the shelves. A few days later I returned to the store to find a generic sign near the box stating that if customers have questions or concerns about any of the products that they should ask employees. THIS IS FAR FROM a satisfactory response. The product is UNSAFE and they continue to SELL IT WITHOUT WARNING THEIR CLIENTS. read more

I love this tisol, the staff are so helpful and most of them are really friendly. They give my dog treats every time and always help me choose the right products. I love the location and we look forward to our almost weekly visits. read more

I just got a puppy a couple months back, so you can imagine how many times I've been to different pet stores and back. Tisol is definitely a gem. The workers are friendly and willing to answer your questions (millions of questions if you're like me), and they're good for their word. I bought an item with a manufacturer's defect, and they were more than happy to exchange/return the product for me -- no questions asked! Plus, there's no limit for an exchange period like Petcetera and other pet stores have. Great! read more

5 stars for the MAIN STREET STORE!!! Everyone who works there is cheerful and extremely helpful - they go out of their way to deepen their answers to questions, telling you of customer experience, stuff they learned in product seminars, and their own experience with products too. Totally unlike the Arbutus store, where the 2 times I shopped there they had major snarky attitude, acting like I was interrupting their stocking to answer a question, and just reading to me from the package to answer it (and yes, I can read without help, I'm looking for advice). I live halfway between the 2 stores, and the Main Street store has earned my loyalty for life. I just got a new cat, and will be doing ALL my shopping there. Hope others do too. read more

The other day I rounded up my teenagers and headed to Tisol for some flea treatment. NO, my teenagers dont have fleas. Our cat has fleas. The cat didn't feel like making the trip to the store. My teens didn't feel like going either but they listen to me more than the cat does. Once there, fun was had by all. There's an expression that mentions 'a bull in a china shop' and another that mentions 'kids in a candy store'. There should be another expression 'like kids in a store full of dog toys'. Much fun was had trying out the toys that make noises. I was expecting them to start playing fetch with one another. Very interesting line of toys for dogs that don't have stuffing to pull out. One was a skunk that when shaken sounded like a duck. It freaked me out. At one point I wondered why only dog toys made these ridiculous noises and my very wise daughter had to remind me that cats are more skittish than dogs. I had a vision of my cat chomping down on a mouse shaped treat, only to have it emit a loud duck-like sound and my cat would become invisible for a few days. They have a large selection of supplies for all kinds of animals. We found what we needed and had an enjoyable time doing so. read more

I think I've probably been to half of Vancouver's pet stores, and Tisol is the best. It's not cramped, and it has a good selection of food, treats, toys, leashes, clothes, beds and other pet gear. You can find a wider selection of stuff than higher-end places like Urban Puppy or Bark & Fitz (it's especially good for food), at lower prices. read more

I have to agree with Kassi L. when it comes to customer service. The guy who works there (he works there pretty often) he's nice, no doubt about it. But, when it comes to (99%) ladies, they have pretty bad attitudes. I never feel welcome, even when if I am paying for my purchases. Even though this location is the closest from my house, I would much rather go to Bosley's or Tisol in Richmond and Grandview for a much more welcoming atmosphere. read more

The staff at Tisol are friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. I've been coming here for years to find litter, treats and food for the cats and am really glad to have this store so close by and familiar faces on the floor and till. The music can be deafening at times but they can be asked to turn it down. Since the store sold last year, the cat food has changed to less variety but it is still alright, overall. Again, the people who work at the store, make the atmosphere of shopping at Tisol worthwhile. read more
