I had some pet food that I needed to donate since I don't have any pets. The pet store is very well equipped. One thing to note is that if you have pet fish, they have limited of items/food for fishes here. No they do not sell any live animals here. Parking is available in front. The store is well stocked. Had a poor experience on May 20 12:53 pm staff completely ignores you while yapping away at another customer looking at their phone and cute pics and just ignore other customers that want to pay. The manager of the store reached out and made it right and the visits was wonderful and we grabbed her a few things. This still is the closest store to my home. A reliable pet store to give you good advice on pets or recommendations on products. I just returned a bag of dog food for my dog because she didn't like the taste of it. The staff were helpful and walked up and down the aisles helping me look for another brand of food. I then had to return the 2nd brand of dog food. (My dog is picky) In the end, I bought a vet recommended brand that Tisol didn't carry, but I would still shop here for other items on a regular basis. read more

A little out of my way but I dragged the Husband here a few weekends ago because a local dog rescue was having an adoption day and we were interested in taking a peak. Apparently this particular location holds many adoption days and fundraisers for various local animal rescues. The store itself has a pretty decent selection and many of the prices are on par with Mr. Pets (cheapest prices for animal supplies). The staff was very friendly and helpful. read more

I love this store in general, but I really like this location in particular. Mark, who used to work at the Arbutus location and before that, the Main street one, is super knowledgeable and helpful. I was so glad to see him at this location as it's the closest one to me now. He helped me so much when I adopted a kitten a couple months ago from VOKRA (Vancouver Orphan Kitten Rescue Association), I needed everything, and he totally went above and beyond. Everyone else there has always been great and They have a ton of awesome products. A wonderful selection of wholesome and organic foods. Only complaint is they still sell some sketchy products that I would never allow for my pets. read more

I live nearby and buy cat food and litter here. Prices are comparable, I've also gotten some really cute dishes and cat beds from them too. Nice variety of food and treats and other supplies. They are involved in the community and have a good reputation unlike some of the sketchy big name pet stores. Staff always say hello when you walk in and are friendly during check out - sometimes I wish they would check on you when you're walking about the store though. read more

This is by far the worst Tisol location. The staff are unfriendly, rude and obnoxious. They all lack any form of etiquette when dealing with customers. They either ignore you or they stare down at you. Moreover, the store is incredibly messy and dirty ( my dogs paws were black after coming here). The selection at this store sucks too, not a lot of holistic products at all, but a lot of grain filled crap. I would rather drive over to Tisol at Market Crossing. read more

I have been shopping here for over 5 years. The staff are always friendly and helpful. When my dog had skin issues the staff recommended a Lamb and rice food for her and her skin cleared right up. When I wanted a new harness or coat, the staff always knew how to put them on right and would never mind doing it for me, to ensure I had the right fit. As Dinah aged, they recommended Recovery for her stiff joints and it made her more comfortable. Dinah is gone now and I miss her terribly. I want to say thank you to the store that helped me do the best I could for her over the years. They are friendly, caring and knowledgable and I would recommend Tisol to anyone. read more

This is my first time to write up a comment about a Tisol pet store in Richmond. I have been shopping in this store since 2000 when it was being managed by the other store manger and other staff. With my experienced in the past years; I was always very happy with the staff members including the previous manger. They were always very helpful with the customers and they do their best to walk extra miles to satisfy the customers. But now, since they have a new manager there, the atmosphere has changed tremendously. They do not care about their customers anymore. My story was about the Timothy hay made by Oxbos, their supplier, in the last two months I have been very stressed out with my returning every bag of hays that I purchased because it was very powdery and it was layers. On the top of the bag it looks fine, but as I was using it to give to my rabbits it was very powdery and I ended up having to return them. The store manager wasn't so pleased about it and had complained to the District Manager, Somani Merrell and said that I cannot accept the bag of hay made by Oxbox anymore, this was the last couple of weeks. Therefore, I tried to shop at the other Tisol pet store, the new store which was opened a year ago which is also in Richmond on No. 3 Road. This was two ago and I purchased one bag of timothy hay made by Oxbox. With the help of the manager at that location we went through the bag of hays to make sure that I would be satisfied with it and to save the time and having to return it. That one bag of Timothy hay was fine I did not had to return it. Today, April 1, 2014, I telephoned the Tisol pet store that I have been shopping at since 2000 just to placed a special order of Bed-O-Cob bedding for my rabbits. The purposed of my call was to placed a special order of the above and nothing else. When I called, the person that answered the phone was Sia, the nice lady and I always like to speak to her because she is very professional and helpful. She asked for my contact number so that they can call me once they got the order of my Bed-O-Cob bedding next week, and our telephone conversation ended there. After 3 minutes, I received a telephone call from the store from another staff member to let me know that they have tried to placed an order for the same item for me two weeks ago and was told that the supplier told them that they have a shortage of that Bed-O-Cob right now but they are tyrying their best to get them in. This Bed-O-Cob bedding is the only bedding that I used for my rabbit because it's good quality even though it's a few dollars more than the other brand. Right now, one of my rabbit has developed a respiratory problem and she is still under treatment, as a result of this, I'm very careful of what I feed them and the bedding that I use for the litter. Today, it was very frustrating because that staff member that telephoned me--put me on hold to Chris--the other staff member because I was told that the store manager is on vacation. That's fine, but when I got another second call from this person, he accused me of hanging up on him and told me that I'm no longer welcome to shop at that store, apparently he's accusing mbe of being rude. I did not hanged-up on him, I was on hold for a while and I cannot hold for a long-time because I am busy. I was upset and I told myself that I'm not goingto be treated this way. What I did then was to contact the District manager,her name is Somali, who has a cold voice, mean on the phone; and to be honest, I'm interested to meet her because I can tell on the voice as I was speaking to her that she is being unreasonable. She telephoned the store, spoke to Christ, the person who told me that I'm no longer welcome to shop at that store. Somale, the District manger, called me back and confirmed that Chris, did the right thing. This woman is a big time bitch--she has even contacted the other Tisol pet store in Richmond about me that I'm not welcome to shop there. She is prejudiced. I want to ask you--to anyone that will read my story--do you thing I did anything wrong? they were accusing me of being rude; as a matter of facts--I wasn't not even at the store. What I did today was simply to phone to placed a special order of Bed-O-Cob as I have noticed that the bag I have at home is getting low and I do not want to wait till I'm completely out. I contacted Somali, the District manager, hoping that as a Human Resources manger that she will resolved the situation and not side on one side. My decision is to call the newspaper to publish about this mean, unfair treatment to a long-time customer of fifteen years. And also file a Human Rights complains to B C Human Rights Tribunal under the Human Rights Code for being prejudiced and refusing to offer service to a person who did nothing wrong. I was in the privacy of my home, I wasn't even at the store, and they were the one that called. read more

Extremely polite and friendly staff. Location is convenient running in and out of - with the occasional issue getting street parking right out front. I was caught in the Natura food recall last year and the store was very helpful in making sure I found a replacement that my cat would eat - giving me a free bag to test out before buying (while refunding me for the recalled bag in full). I've been shopping there for almost 15 years and there is a low turn-over of staff which speaks to the work environment. Very happy to support a local, family run business too. I've been going to this Tisol store for about 10 years now. I love this location. It's more like a community and my dog loooooves the old manager (I don't see him there anymore). It's a small store but it has pretty much everything I need for my cat, dogs and fish. read more

This is the worst Tisol location. Any other location is absolutely fabulous and has a great reputation for meeting the needs of customers. The staff at this location are not friendly nor helpful, and are far more concerned with their own conversations than to help a customer. The store is not well-stocked and never have the products that I need. If they don't carry the product, they don't offer to order it in or call other locations. This location needs new staff or a little chat from upper management on what the values of a Tisol store are. Market Crossing location is a little bit further away, but totally worth it. Plus, you can do a little shopping at the nearby Winners and other stores at the mall. Bonus! read more
