Be cautious when using this business. They do not maintain computerized service records, so keep…read moreevery receipt--especially if you pay in cash (which they encourage you to pay in cash so they waive tax). If they cannot locate your receipt they will absolutely refuse to take responsibility for ANY issues related to their work.
I paid in cash to have my shocks and struts replaced. During the repair, the bracket that secures the ABS wire was installed incorrectly. As a result, the ABS wire was damaged and eventually snapped.
Shortly after the repair, my ABS warning light came on. Because I also needed new brakes at the time, I assumed the warning light was related to the brakes and did not immediately return to the shop.
Later, I took my vehicle to the Toyota dealership for an oil change and complimentary diagnostic. The tech determined that the ABS wire had been damaged and eventually snapped because the bracket had been installed incorrectly during the shocks and struts replacement.
I returned to JV and explained the situation. They searched through their "paper records" but could not find my receipt because they do not maintain computerized service histories. Since they could not locate the record, they refused to take any responsibility for the damage/incorrect installation.
What makes this especially disappointing is that the replacement ABS wire costs only about $20-$60. I was even prepared to have them perform another, much more expensive repair--replacing my wheel bearing--if they would simply correct their bracket mistake on the ABS wire and give them another chance to keep my business. Instead, they chose not to resolve the issue in anyway and not take any accountability thus losing not only my business but also that of my husband and anyone else I know.
It is also worth noting that damaging, pinching, stretching, or breaking an ABS wire is a well-known issue during a shocks and struts replacement if the wire or its mounting bracket is not handled correctly (I know now). I provided JV with a video from Toyota showing the mechanic stating that the bracket had been installed incorrectly during the repair of the shocks and struts.
Despite this evidence, they still refused to take responsibility because they could not locate my paper receipt and do not maintain computerized records of the work.
They mentioned that because my husband had installed the brake pads since visiting their shop, it could have been his fault. However, the ABS light was on before this instillation.
My concern is not just the repair itself but the lack of accountability for a safety-related issue. It's amazing to me that a shop would want to lose Loyal customers for such a low cost repair. That is not a smart business that I plan to continue maintaining a relationship with.
I recommend keeping every receipt and noting that there is no computer tracking of record's and that any repairs done by them are only under warranty for 30 days (according to the owner). So having their worked checked out after repairs wouldn't be a bad idea. Especially if you have a shocks/struts job.
To the owner:
If your reply is similar to your responses to other one-star reviews you've received, I'll address it here. Please feel free to read my other reviews. You'll see that I rarely leave negative feedback and have only done so one other time. I have already acknowledged my own mistakes. I should have kept my receipt, and I should have returned as soon as the ABS warning light appeared. However it did not appear right away and those facts do not change the underlying issue of your incorrect work. The Toyota technician determined that the ABS wire was damaged because the bracket was installed incorrectly during your suspension repair. Whether or not you choose to accept responsibility, the incorrect installation caused the problem that I am now paying to fix.
Also, dealing with Eddie is much more pleasant than dealing with the owner. Had he been there today the shop would have made money on a new job instead of losing two customers
