I was looking for a specific Michellin tire that the other big box retailers were out of stock on. Tire Guy not only had the tire but was almost $200.00 less than the bid box retailers. The tire were installed in 45 minutes and I was able to apply for the current Michellin rebate.

This place is on the edge of the 'hood. You will definitely be looking over your shoulder as constantly there are people walking and driving by who will be staring at and measuring you. Huge rims, vulgar rap music and the like. But these guys, and a gal or two, here are great. I've been here three times now and I've never had a reason to go elsewhere for my tire needs. My first visit was to diagnose a tire that always seemed to go flat by the time I got to the parking lot after work. Two other places wouldn't even look at the tire and both wanted me to buy a new tire. This place took the tire off, dunked it in water, and checked it very carefully before announcing it was a small leak at the base of the valve (which cannot be seen unless the tire is removed from the rim, which they did). New valve installed and charged me $7. This latest visit found me with a tire that just wasn't going to pass inspection due to severely worn tread. This greatly annoys me because it is the same tire I had just last year purchased from the dealer (yeah I know). My tech put the tire on a balancing diagnostic machine and told me that the tire hadn't even been balanced when it was put on my car. Sigh... really? That explains the slight vibration and the irregular wear. I had almost convinced myself that my car might be in need of an alignment. So instead of paying a few hundred bucks for an unnecessary alignment I was pleasantly surprised with a new-looking used tire with a price tag of $32. Not only that but no more vibration! If you are in this area and need a tire (or a set) and/or some wheel/tire repair come take a look. Oh... they have a practice here, probably to prevent some shady folks from driving off after repair/replacement completed, of keeping your car jacked up until you pay. Plus the tech will walk with you and stay until the transaction is completed. By the time you sign your slip he will have lowered your car and it'll be ready to drive. It is an interesting approach to go through but given the area it's in I am not too terribly surprised. Happy wheelin'!

I left, and noted they did not recalibrate the TPS. Did that and decided to check the tire pressure myself. All four of them were at different pressures, two of which were 20psi OVER where it should be. At this point I'm pressed. We paid $185 for a tire that had a hole and needed patching. I had to call AAA, and I missed half a day of work. We go back. We're like hey, clearly whoever put these on doesn't know wtf they're doing b/c we had a hole and they're all at different pressures and they're over pressure. This sucks, we don't want your shoddy tires we want our money back. They did absolutely jack all to make it right. I drove to my mechanic to make sure the tires were now safe to drive on. They fixed the tire pressure in them, and my mechanic said that I won't die, but the tires they sold me have tread on them so bad they would NOT pass state inspection. $185 and if I had to get an inspection tomorrow I wouldn't pass? Are you for real right now? This is unreal and not right. Integrity is dead in the modern age.

Very happy I found them, and while I hope I never need them again, the reality is cars use tires and we all need them. The price was great, and I was happy with the service. Best shop in town. I…read morefirst came to Village Motor Works when it was still spelled motorwerks and owned by Bill and Pam. Back then I had a VW, and they treated me well. So when I returned in July '17, I was surprised to find the place had changed hands and undergone one heck of a facelift. Since July I've had the pleasure of dealing with Bryan and Elizabeth several times because I've recently purchased two new-to-me vehicles that have needed some work. Bryan is the best kind of mechanic. He not only knows his stuff, he'll show you what's wrong, and explains how he plans to fix the problem before diving in. I've received nothing but exceptional customer service from him and Elizabeth each and every time I've passed through their door. It's always nice to find a great mechanic, and if you're looking for someone who exemplifies honesty while offering great service for a reasonable cost, you've found your shop. I won't be taking my vehicles anywhere else so long as they're in business.

We experienced an engine malfunction with my daughter's car, which sounded like a misfire. I checked reviews for nearby garages, and Village Motor Works seemed to be pretty good, so my daughter took it here. They diagnosed the primary issue as a stretched and jumped timing chain, with secondary impacts to the coils and plugs. I dealt with two service advisors--one was nice and helpful, but the other was rather rude and dismissive. Unfortunately, my primary service advisor was the rude one. Maybe he was having a bad day, or maybe he had a lot going on. I don't know, but I called up to discuss the diagnosis, and he was extremely dismissive. I tried to get him to walk me through how they arrived at their verdict, and he just repeatedly stated with absolute certainty that it was a timing chain issue. He quoted me $3,679 to replace the timing chain (typical is around $2,400-$2,800) plus $2,400 for plugs and coils (should be no more than about $1,200-$1,700). Given the misfires, I completely understand the rationale for replacing the plugs, but one could argue replacement of any/all coils is unnecessary. I tried to talk through some ways to get the job pared back, but he was unyielding. $6,000+ or get your car off my lot. So I did. I had it towed elsewhere, and the second garage correctly diagnosed the problem as a misfire caused by a single failed coil. I was back on the road for a little over $1,300, and that included a second diagnostic fee and a tow. In summary, I do not think they dreamed up the timing issue to extort money out of me (which is why I am not leaving a one-star rating), but I do think their tech misdiagnosed the core issue. I could even live with that, but then they were rude to boot. Two stars.

I visited this Discount Tire location on Jan 19, 2026 to fix an issue with my tire: a stuck nail…read more After the terrible experience at the Wake Forest location (on 11212 Capital Blvd) that was a walk-in, I decided to make an appointment for this visit... the first time I had to do so. Discount Tire's Journey Tracker app actually worked properly this time around (it didn't work at all at Wake Forest). I used it to notify that I was on the way, and of my arrival after I parked at the designated lot. It was about five minutes before the appointment time when I arrived. Despite the day being a public holiday (Martin Luther King, Jr.), the wait time was a fraction of the 5-minute I had suffered at Wake Forest. After the staff member looked at my car, he determined that the tire had to be replaced. Since I didn't purchase a warranty, I paid full price for the replacement. Unlike at Wake Forest, the staff member told me approximately what time the my car would be ready for pickup, and that the technicians worked on my car almost immediately (Wake Forest didn't get to it until almost four hours later). Journey Tracker was updated to show 1) time window of my arrival and 2) estimated completion time. The text message on my phone showed the check-in time of 3:19pm. Like at Wake Forest, 4400 Fayetteville has three bays; unlike at Wake Forest, 4400 Fayetteville were operating three service areas full-time in their bays during the entire time I was there. The waiting area was less than half-full. l returned almost an hour later but didn't wait long to pick up my car. The text message notified me at 4:12pm that it was ready. That was the time that I got into my car and left. Total wait time was less than an hour. Why did I choose 4400 Fayetteville? Because they had appointments available the next day while all the other locations didn't. I was expecting similar crappy services that I had at Wake Forest, but was pleasantly surprised that it wasn't the case. It restored my confidence in Discount Tire and reaffirmed that not all of their locations are the same. Even though 4400 Fayetteville is out of the way for me, I will consider going back here for future services.
