Great venue to chill and watch live music. The bartenders were great. The drinks were strong and packed a punch, but not overpowering. There is an open floor for you to dance. There is no seating, which is NOT a big deal if you're in tune to the music and show. It was not a big deal for me, I thoroughly enjoyed myself. It's definitely local friendly and not as touristy, which is a plus in my book. I will definitely come back to check out more live music.

My favorite live music venue in New Orleans. From home grown new talent to national touring acts, this venue hosts some of the best live music I've had the pleasure to experience. My first visit here was in 1989 before I lived in New Orleans. Now I fortunately live within walking distance of this club. If you're local or visiting I highly recommend catching a show here.

First time here. We came out tonight to see brass a holics. This venue is hugeand the bartenders are bartending! ;-) It's crowded in here for this to be such a big venue. It's cool downstairs, hot upstairs. noisy everywhere and the sound system is pretty awesome!

Fun little concert hall with a dive bar feel. On a recent trip to New Orleans, I landed at this spot for the first time. We saw a band called Dragon smoke, and had an amazing time. It's not tough to realize why this bar/music venue is rated so highly. First for the music, the sound system is great, especially for the type of music that play at this facility. The band I saw was jamming all night, Guitar , bass, drums, keyboard, and they were all mixed perfectly. Also, the venue was pretty big, and when the lower bowl fills up, there is an upstairs area. The second draw is the nice layout of bars, and assortment of alcohol they have. The staff is super friendly and helpful. Even though the place was packed, I didn't have to wait too long for a drink. There is also a bathroom situation on both levels so you don't have to walk back-and-forth. Would definitely go here if you are seeing a band you know, or try them out for something new.

No visit to NOLA is complete without seeing a show at Tipitina's. As long time fans of the Radiators, we spent two of our six nights here ands came specifically for their show. All tix are General Admission as there is no seating and it was packed wal-to-wall with their loyal fans. There is some bench seating upstairs which wasn't quite as crowded. Advise you to get there early to stake out your spot. Hanging over the rail on the second floor is a great view and not as taxing. Free water on the second floor is a nice touch. We had a blast. Always great acts here.

Intimidate venue with great beer choices and fair bar prices. Top that off with a fun, positive vibe from staff members and you get a perfect music venue. Can't wait to return in 2022!!

At one point during my trip there was a chance I was going to see three separate shows here, destiny only brought me once but the fact that there was so much to choose from speaks to the awesomeness of Tipitina's. I got to see Larry Keel for the first time and man did him and his band put on a great show. The crowd was awesome and as fellow Yelper Joi. B points out, there's really not a bad spot to stand in. Even when I wasn't close I had great views of the stage and I just kept working my way up closer and closer till I was right up front. The crowd just seemed to have a nice friendly flow that had people naturally cycling through. Beers were also not too difficult to get which was nice even with a packed house. I also like that it's a little off the beaten path, which might deter some from coming out but I actually think it's a plus.

Ask the Community - Tipitina's

Are there any places where you can sit down?

Only a couch and maybe a bench upstairs. But mostly the entire venue is standing room only. There is also a VIP section upstairs that has some seating, but no actual view of the stage from any of the seating - VIP or GA.

Is it only open on nights where the calendar on their website has a show advertised? Or are there other (less notable?) bands performing on the remaining nights?

Do we have to buy tickets beforehand or can we wait till the door opens to get tickets?

Depends on the show; many sell-out before show-ti me, otherwise you can pay at the door.

Does tipitinas allow fixed lens or interchangeable lens cameras?

It depends on the show and the artist's PR policy.

Are VIP tickets worth getting for extra benefits/special seating?

VIP tickets usually include a meet and greet so its up to you if that interests you. Other than that, the venue is standing only.

Service is welcoming to all from first time visitors to seasoned cigar aficionados. The full bar is excellent and the cigar case selection is exceptional! Just don't open the case yourself as the large sign says or you will scolded, lol. Really you will. Dos Jefes's atmosphere is the real gem. Dark, lush and smokey surroundings make for a perfect setting to unwind and take in the Cuban-inspired bric-a-brac that surrounds the walls. If you're a true cigar maven like me, this is your kind of place. What really makes Dos Jefes special is it's soul. Night after night, talented musicians fill the room with incredible live performances, giving the lounge an energy that's impossible to fake -- be sure to tip the musicians well as they're is no cover charge for the music. Add in the pool table tucked away in the back, a relaxing out door patio in the back (on not so humid nights), and probably the best cigar selection around, and you have a destination that's much more than a cigar bar. It's an Uptown institution and a must-visit for anyone who appreciates great cigars, live music, and genuine hospitality.

I would say minus the no sitting at the bar, this version is the best so far. They now sell food. That's a plus. And its cleaned up in here too. The mens bathroom air isn't a pee and fruit fly saturated atmosphere anymore. No clue whats happening in the womens bathroom. Still cash only. The same bartender I always seen. Still funny and dry as ever. He was obviously happy to be behind that bar again. There is video poker in there as is a pool table and a busted up Ms. Pacman machine in the back. Sketchy as all get out but the good kind of sketch. Nothing I would fear any physical harm from. There is still plenty of sitting along a wall. A jukebox. I don't know, I just really like this bar. A friend of mine, Courtney, had a great statement about Bros III, just walking in here gives you a hangover. That is kinda true. Mostly because if you walk out of there without the ability to get a hangover, you didn't stay long enough.

Just when you think you know about every bar in New Orleans, even if you haven't had a drink…read morethere... spoiler: it is impossible to know about every bar in New Orleans. And I don't even mean the ones that recently opened. I had a couple friends in town recently on a Sunday and we might have lost track of time (and drinks consumed... how did it get to be 11pm?!) We thought we'd keep the party going at Delachaise, but oddly they were closing too (it was a quiet night in town for some reason... let's call it the calm before the Superbowl and Mardi Gras storm). After seeing Prytania Bar was open, we headed there. I love the vibe in here-- very much old school NOLA dive but also clean and inviting. The bar is large and circular and I can't imagine not sitting at it if there is room and I am not really a fan of sitting at bars. The bartender was chill and friendly and offered up suggestions to my friends who were on the fence about which beer to order (bottles and cans only). And although it's a dive, that is not the 'tude here. I had ordered a sparkling wine and with one or two sips, I wasn't feeling it (too sweet) and the bartender kindly offered to make it a mimosa or poinsetta. I couldn't see that happening at (an array of bars that shall remain nameless). I also was not really into drinking more that night, so I can't tell you what a cocktail might have been like if I had exchanged it for one. The tunes were also excellent-- old doo-wop, Motown, Beach Boys (a gal was feeding the jukebox, not sure if she worked there or was a customer). I just really liked this bar. And... the bathrooms are clean! If I lived near here, I'd be a fixture. I'll be back but I'll have to find something other than sparkling wine to drink.

Always a great stop for super affordable drinks at a chill bar! The staff at Prytania Bar are…read morealways kind and helpful.
