Shoutout to Tip Top Barber Shop! Definitely one of the best barber shops on the BLVD. Mario, Javi always do a great job and make sure you leave with a fresh, clean cut. Great service, good atmosphere, and consistent every time. If you're looking for a solid barber, I highly recommend the shop. They won't disappoint! read more

Just went last week and got a fade and Anthony the barber did a really bad job. It' used to be a solid barber but I guess now they just hire anyone.ill give it 2 stars just because he did use the blade and gave me a hot shave and he was really fast under 30 mins I was out read more

If I can put no stars I would, I don't know how much simpler I could've explained my cut to JAVI. One inch off the top and a 2 on the sides that fades into a 1. My hair is middle parted/ curtains but for sum reason these BARBERS think I would want my hair to come out as a comb over. basically if you have any style other than a comb over. They are going to ask you what kind of cut you want then proceed to put all your hair on one side of your head and cut it like a comb over. I'd put two side by side photos but I don't have a recent photo of my hair before. I went from having long curtains/ middle part to a pineapple read more

Awesome place! Friendly People. Del Mar gave me on the best haircuts ever. They really are professionals here!

Everyone here was very friendly and service was quick. This is strictly about quality of the cut. Terrible. Can't follow simple directions

The best Barber shop around, I've been going since the day they opened. Haircuts done right, hair products you need, even a cold drink. If you want a good haircut at the right price, I recommend Tip Top Barbershop. read more

Nice clean shop I made my appointment online through boobski. I took cash pretty expensive for just shaving the side of my hair however I would come back if I had to. Good customer service could be a little bit more friendly to women who enter their establishment. read more

Maybe the worst haircut I've ever had, certainly the worst I've had as an adult. I showed the barber exactly what I wanted, see pic below. Instead, the dude left me looking like Brock Lesnar. What are they teaching people in barber schools these days? Did this guy even go to barber school? Needless to say, I will NEVER be going back. read more

Really disappointed went in today to get a cut I have curly hair that looks great in a A-line cut but the woman there proceeded to tell me I wouldn't look good with an A-line and actually told me to show her a picture of me with one before she would do it. Then she continued to tell me it wouldn't look good. I've gotten more expensive salons to give me A-lines no problem. If she was not capable of doing one fine but don't tell me I won't look good without actually knowing. read more

Great environment and professional barbers. They will get your hair dialed in and looking good!!

Thank you Victor for being Zachs barber and being so good to him. Thank you for always getting the lil star in whenever needed. He always looks great - your the best read more

"A barbershop for gentlemen." This is how Tip Top Barbershop was described to me the first time I visited the establishment. Any fella who is in his 30s-40s understands that going to the barbershop can become a pain in the ass. Especially when your surrounded by dudes getting faux-hawks and talking about partying, drinking, weed smoking, and other bullshit that I'd rather not hear about. This place is not like that. They play great music, everything from old school punk to Frank Sinatra. They offer beer to their customers and they fill the barbershop with vintage photographs, tattoo art, barber chairs. Most importantly they can cut hair. Kevin and the owner have both given me excellent cuts. By the way, $16 for a haircut is a solid price. Anything lower and Tip Top turns into your local "get-me-the-f-outta here" hair cuttery I REALLY HOPE THIS PLACE holds true to its vision. I've been in Whittier for years and have witnessed the "bro/hood/dumbass" element take over many blocks and business. Good luck to Tip Top, I'll definitely be back in a few weeks. read more

Really great barber shop. I didn't know where to go to after my old barber shop was forced to close permanently due to Gavin Newsoms fail policies of Covid. So I decided to try this shop and got a fine haircut with Joey. I didn't expect much but it was a really good haircut so good that this shop will be my new spot for a fresh cut. Thanks for the fresh cut Joey read more

Dope ass spot ! Went in there the other day after waiting a ridiculous amount of time at another barber shop. Was in hopes I would be attended which I was. Elvis was the one who helped me out. He even helped me with the style of cut I wanted ! Guy knows his stuff. Definitely going back! read more

Poor customer service they send you booking reminders and cancel your appointment 10 minutes before. Definitely worse experience I've had;not a good way to do business. read more

I've been going to Vic at tip top on Whittier blvd for a few years now and couldn't be in better hands. Aside from an amazing cut he works with your new ideas and suggests how to tailor it and better suit you. Brought my friend in as a new client and he loved his hair after. Shop has felt super safe and sanitary throughout covid and working with/around the masks has been easy and comfortable. read more

High Recommend this shop and Victor. He has been cutting my hair for years. They will make you feel welcome and you will always leave with a great cut! Stop by the Blvd and ask for Vic! read more

This place is amazing, great cuts, great conversation always professional and an ultra friendly investment

I've been coming here for a a while. Great customer service and you can't beat the prices and the cut is fantastic. Vic has been my barber since he came to the bright ave store years ago. If your looking for a new shop you won't be disappointed with Tip Top. Be sure to call ahead and schedule an appointment with Vic. read more

A great place to get a no BS cut I've been coming here for a while. It's a cool spot for sure. The barbers are all really good. They do some pretty good haircuts. They take their time and do it right and finish off with a neck shave with a straight blade OG style. They have refreshments that you can drink while you wait as well. Its the best barbershop I've been to in Whittier hands down. read more

This barbershop is awesome. It's got awesome barbers, great atmosphere and I always leave the shop looking finer that frog hair. Thanks guys. And thank you Vic. read more

Was thoroughly impressed after my cut here this past week. The barber knew exactly what I wanted with minimal description necessary. The inside of the shop is pretty swag. The barber, who is also a tattoo artist, has his art-work hung upon each wall. This barbershop, as any real barbershop should, employs in the use of the straight razor and shaves. The place operates on a walk-in basis as any good barbershop should. The barberchairs themselves were awesome as hell. Each one was vintage, being from either the 1950's or the 1960's. The buck trophys on the walls capped off the perfect hair cut. The only con I found was the price, 13$ seems bout the price it should be here, but its not. See below. Hours are Tuesday-Saturday 10-6 if i remember correctly. Price for a haircut was $16 and that included the use of a straight razor on my neck. Rockabilly/Psychobilly friendly! Definitely the coolest place in Whittier for a man to get his hair cut. read more

Tip Top Barber Shop - All vintage barber chairs from 1950's-1960's - Barbers Near Me - Whittier, California

Cool and laid back place. You can have a beer while you wait or while your hair is getting cut. Good and friendly atmosphere. Gabriel gave me a killer haircut. They'll give you a free sample of their nice pomade and won't be overly aggressive with trying to sell it either. I couldn't leave a barbershop more satisfied. Highly recommended. read more

I don't like to get my haircut and I usually wait until the last possible moment to get one. My last barber shut up shop- it was $10 with minimal conversation. Not that I'm not a social person, I just want to get it over with so I can move on to my next task. We found Tip Top Barber Shop on Yelp and saw glowing reviews for it. It's true. While you're waiting, you can indulge in a brewski if you're legal age. For those that aren't, well, you can watch someone that is old enough enjoying their beverage. Just like previous reviews stated, it really looks like a tattoo shop with barber chairs. They have a lot of pin-up and flash art on the walls which reinforces that feeling. I had someone named Robert cutting my hair and I think he did a damn good job. He was quick and focused. He asked me what I wanted in the beginning and when he wasn't really sure what I was talking about, he asked questions. That put my mind at ease. I hate when I go somewhere, tell them what I want, they look at me like I'm a mutant and then proceed cutting without ever really knowing what the hell I am talking about and come out looking like I had a flowbee accident. Not him. He even took a straight razor to my neck (which scared the shit out of me... I think I watch too many horror movies). Within 15-minutes, I was cut, clean and out the door. They don't take cards, so make sure you come armed with cash. It's $16 for a mens cut, so I threw down a $20 and called it a day. They would probably get more tips if they accepted cards, but that's not my business. I recommend going here, and will probably be going back. read more

Besides my anatomical characteristics, I am by no means a man. With that being said; it is obvious that upon entering a barber shop I have no idea of the terminology being tossed around. Some examples are: "Fade," "Taper," "I met this girl," "I got a number," and stuff like that. It's all foreign to me! I've been coming here bi-weekly for the past 3 months now, and each time the guys there manage to understand what the hell I want to do with my hair and deliver on point! Chris has been cutting my hair this whole time, and he has done an amazing job. Today; however, he wasn't in the shop yet so I was seen by another gentleman. I forgot his name, but he usually wears a hat, glasses, and has tattoos on his neck, and I decided to try my hand at this crazy lingo of theirs and said; "Do what you did to that guy." And sure enough he left me feeling clean, manly, and tough. It truly seems like they could do no wrong. Everyone always leaves their chair content and happy with their new cut. They are all really friendly dudes, and will strike up conversation with you, or if you rather just stick to yourself they'll focus on the cutting and leave you be in your comforting state of Zen. The music will range from rockabilly, oldies, and today they had some cool loungey jazz going on. You even get a complimentary drink with your visit. I wish the lion-hearted feeling I get after leaving this place lasted for more than two weeks. Unfortunately for me my skin re-softens, and I revert to my old matronly self again, but not to worry because I can always count on them to fix me back up. read more

I went here for my first time today, knowing that whoever got me as a customer would have a lot of hair to cut. I suppose i never really thought about it and I just let it grow long, to the point where I was starting to resemble Shaggy from Scooby-Doo. I walked in some-what early and everyone that told me about this shop said you could get a beer if you are waiting, I didn't do that because it wasn't even 11:00 yet and the employees of the store had no other customers. so I was ready to go. The staff that was there consisted of a man and a woman (poor woman got me) she asked me how I wanted it to be cut. I wasn't really sure (i've never been too particular about my hair...mostly because it grows back too quickly.)I pointed to a 1950's poster on the wall that said "Modern Haircuts" which is a joke within itself, which is obvious, so I won't get into it. she cut my hair well and in a timely manner. I also asked if I could get a straight razor shave. (this is where the review went from a 4-star, to a 5-star.) First of all, I have cut up my face numbered times, partly because whenever I shave, I am in a hurry, so I do a bad job of it. so my face is a minefield of whiskers pointing in different directions, I am surpassed that the woman shaving me didn't cut my throat, either way, it was Very relaxing and enjoyable either way. overall, the haircut and shave (the shave being VERY pampering) cost $30 worth it I'd say, but it's your call. I would come here to enjoy a gentlemen's Barber Shop, with no frills and what not. read more

This is a great place with really amazing people. Has an old school vibe. They're my new barber

I found Tip Top through Yelp, 15 minutes away.. thought I'd give it a shot. I did and loved it! It's cool and comfortable, great atmosphere, offers free beers (yeah, you read it right!) and ppl who works there are really nice and cool. I honestly thought this place is gonna be crowded with some douchy ppl with too much testosterone, I was wrong. The guy (I forgot to ask his name) did a great job trimming my hair. Remember to tip them decently! I felt like my pair grew a little bigger on my way back home :-) So theeeeeeere you go! read more

Been coming here for a while now. Always leave here very satisfied feeling great. Even when I leave with a haircut a little shorter or longer than I wanted it's still a really good hair cut that was thoroughly cut and wasn't rushed. I usually just tell them kinda what I want and let them work their magic. Great people and awesome atmosphere. P.s lots of guys are scared to get their cut from the girl but she does a real good job! read more

This is my spot! Everytime I go here, people *ahem women* compliment my hair. If you like hearing things like "OMG your hair looks so nice" or "Dang, did you do something different you look great" or even simply "Whoa"... then I recommend this place. If you are married or dating, I'd say be warned. Side effects may include increased attractiveness to the opposite gender. Only proceed if you are secure in your relationship. No but in all seriousness, the guys are awesome, the cuts are always well done, and I have not yet been disappointed. To put it in perspective, I drive all the way here from Long Beach ever since I discovered it. I have a friend who lives not too far from here and so I stopped in one day and kept coming. They are THAT good. Enjoy. read more

Ok, sit down, grab a beer, shut up, and grow a pair. I'm gonna write a review that will make the half naked ladies in that magazine you're holding blush. This is the first REAL review of this place. Many of the rest of these reviews have either been filtered out (as fakes) or are written by one of the barber's cousins (or by the barbers themselves). Not cool Tip Top Barber Shop. Shame on you. This is a man's barbershop. Tattoo art on the wall. A cool retro logo. A neon sign with a pretty lady. Magazines with tattoo'd ladies. Free beer in the fridge. I really dig and appreciate what they have going here. They do good work. I have just one gripe: The price. $15 or $16? Really guys?! Come on! If you include a tip the haircut gets pretty pricey. Not cool. I can get an hour-long massage in Westminster for that price. And for that - I had to dock them 1 star. PS: THE FIRST SENTENCE OF THIS REVIEW SHOULD BE THEIR SLOGAN. YOU'RE WELCOME, TIP TOP BARBER SHOP. read more

Tip Top Barber Shop - In San Fran looking dapper! - Barbers Near Me - Whittier, California

This is the man cave. Straight up barber shop - nothing but clean cuts. You wanna feel pretty - go to a salon. You wanna perm - go to a salon. You wanna cup of tea - go to a salon. I go to tiptop for a cut. And have for the past 2-3 years. There have been times I've come in and see that they're slammed. I'll give my barber the look and instantly know... come back later. No prob. And coming in right before they close - now that's a challenge. If I look down at my watch or look up at the sun and know it's getting late but really really need a cut I'll try my luck. I'll swing by the shop pop in my head and ask asap. It's a yes or a no. Either way I'm good. I've let my hair grown wild an extra week to get a cut from tiptop. Take care of your barber they'll take care of your cut. That's all a man can ask for. read more

I've been searching for a good barbershop for sometime. After a while I just gave up and resorted to going to a franchised hairstyling place that has a revolving group of stylists. On my frequent walks I'd pass by this shop wanting to stop in, however the pandemic hit and they, like many places closed down for awhile. I was glad to see they were back in business and I finally got the chance to try them out. Their place is real barber shop as I once remembered. The place is clean, nicely decorated, great music and friendly atmosphere. I took my chances as a walk-in and waited a short while. Many of the clients were repeat customers and I could see why. They're treated as friends rather than just a paying customer. It was refreshing to get a proper haircut from a professional barber. It's nice that there are people who practice a skill that's been lost to lessons learned at a beauty school that produces stylists, not barbers. It's been sometime since I 've look in the mirror and admire the haircut. I found myself saying,"Now that's the haircut I've been wanting! " Thanks guys! read more

This is a badass barber shop! Classic cuts and old school know how, man shit type place. I've been here a few times so far and I'll keep going in when I'm an old ass dude. I just moved out to Orange County from the northeastern U.S. and this is hands down the best barber shop I've ever been to. They gave me the best haircut I've ever had, which was no easy job because I haven't had it cut in about 4 months. Super mellow, relaxed atmosphere without feeling like they're trying too hard. I saw Mike and he did everything exactly the way I wanted. They didn't try to sell me on any hair products or anything. Although they do sell them if you need some. Anyways, perfect barbershop experience and I'd suggest them to anyone. See ya every 3 weeks from now on guys. read more

One of the best shops Ived been too. If I'm not mistaken there's no appointments only walk ins. As soon as I walked in David introduced himself and asked me to sit down. Offered me something to drink and asked what type of haircut I wanted. Really chill atmosphere, none of that really young barbershop feel. All the barbers were really friendly and eazy to talk too. Haircut price for a razor shaved comb over is $24.00. A little pricy but well worth it. The only downside was that I felt like I was slipping from the barbers chair but that might be my fault because I have no ass. Will definitely be back! read more
