Danny is the best barber. I've been coming to him for probably 9 years and he's always super friendly, asks me about how I'm doing, and since getting to know him personally we talk about our personal lives because we're close. My cuts are always consistent because I tell him what I want and he talks with me about what I'm asking for. Obviously the vibes are 50s barbershop with chill music playing and regulars coming in to talk with their friends no longer their barbers. I recommend coming knowing you might wait if you walk in, they're popular for a reason. Book an appointment if you need it ahead of time, don't wait until before your big day to get a cut! read more

My friend was hoping for a clean and fresh cut for easter weekend. He showed his barber a reference photo and now he is embarrassed to spend easter sunday with his family!!! Now we're learning off youtube tutorials to try and save his life!!! The sins committed against him by his barber are not what Jesus died for. read more

This place is the BEST! Danny, the owner is extremely talented and an awesome guy all around. I tried several other barber shops on the area and hands down his is the #1 read more

Danny is a phenomenal barber, you can't go wrong with him, as he's experienced in his field by over a decade, not to mention a God-centered man. The vibe of the shop is very cool, very Western-vintage. Nice taxidermy deer where'd you get it lol read more

This has been a review that I have been meaning to write for a long time. I have one of those oh so special situations where I have wavy hair, meaning that it is waving goodbye. I know that I only have a few more years left of getting haircuts so it is Something that I am very particular about when it comes to who cuts my hair. Kevin, one of the owners, has been cutting my hair for years. I had met him at a previous shop. I had heard that he opened up his own place and went straight there. When it comes to price I have to say they are competitively priced with other shops in the area. If you are getting your hair cut based on price, but not on quality I would have to say you're playing a different game than me. When it comes to quality, they can't be beat. Whether I am sitting in Kevin's chair, or someone else who works there which I have, I know that I am going to get the same quality cut by anyone in the shop. I know that it is tradition for your barber to hand you the mirror so you an inspect your cut and make sure it is up to your specifications. This is one of those things I have never had to do here. I get what I pay for and still feel like I am getting a deal. I don't know if I would call it a family business, but it feels like it when you are in there. This is something that you don't see now in very many businesses. The touch of community is lost. This is a neighborhood shop and you won't be disappointed walking out of there. Don't think twice if you are looking for a new barber. read more

Got my hair colored by Alyssa and I cannot be happier!!! I had a vision of how I wanted it to look and not only did she deliver but she helped keep my hair healthy at the same time (she color corrected and fixed my color from a previous botched job from another salon). It's so hard to find someone who can do proper fantasy colors so this was just a perfect surprise I love when you can connect with your hair stylist/colorist and she did just that's. So happy about my hair! read more

Truth is I don't want to tell you about this barber shop. They are that good and I do not want you taking my spot. At a great price and great cuts don't be shy to tip Kevin and his guys above your normal amount. I've been here 3 times and have not walk away mad, i even don't have too much lose hair (good clean up). You want to make an appointment but walk-ins are welcome. This place is like a old barber shop with a bit of a modern feel. Not overdoing the decor or music they keep it comfortable to bring the kiddos or the the special ladies in your life. Close to good food you can get a cut before or after you eat. Don't have cash Its ok they have an ATM. Definitely a cool spot just to hang out if you have to wait for your cut. FYI 5*'s are not given easily but it so hard to find a barber at a great price with a good vibe. read more

I've been going to danny for the last what's feel like almost 10 years he's always taking care of me and had me looking fresh! Recommend 10 out of 10 our conversations are always good and I leave looking and feeling better than when I came in! read more

What a waste....... Was back in town for xmas and needed a haircut and beard trim. Called to check if they could accommodate a walk-in and said they could take me right away. Wrong. Sat for an hour and 40 minutes for a seat. I understand appointments come first so whatever. My barber John seemed cool enough. Got my cut, beard was trimmed, paid my tab and left. Was in a hurry so I did not scrutinize my head or chin. Once I got home I realized what I had paid for. The hair was ok, not terrible but not great. The beard though........MOTHER OF GOD! Uneven (right side is 1/4 in longer then left) and he left a landing strip under my chin! My schedules busy and we are leaving LA to go home so I was unable to go into the shop again but be warned. Before you pay. CHECK YOUR WHISKERS! read more

Alyssa is my go to barber that I even followed her from her previous shop. She's very kind and skillful; she's also fun to converse with! I love recommending her to everyone and she never lets anyone down. She's also made some cool suggestions and I always trust her with my hair! Ask for Alyssa! read more

Dani is the owner of this shop and also a barber here. He is very disrespectful and judges everyone and talks badly and horrible things behind his clients. Also he disrespects his own wife behind her back talking trash about her family to other people who shouldn't hear that stuff. By all means if you're someone who likes to be talked behind your back go ahead and book. My last 2 sessions I didn't talk to him and would say I'm tired but honestly I rather take my business to another barber shop. read more

Short sum: Going to be a frequent visitor! Pros - super nice and chill staff. Super personable. Had my haircut by Chris who works two days a week. He's great! - they make sure they really understand what you want before cutting. - hilarious team. Always fun listening in to everyone's stories. - haircut is on the cheaper side compared to most barbers around the area. Cons - none Go back? Of course read more

I've known this shop since it's beginning. I, a pixie haired woman, came into this shop looking for a touch up in between cuts from my stylist in Brea. Kevin, the owner, hopped on the opportunity to cut my hair. He was once an educator in the field and it showed. I've gotten to witness a lot of barbers work here and the quality is top notch. Another barber I must mention is Danny. He has the first chair next to the window and I enjoy watching him carefully craft each cut. This shops vibe is lively and is very welcoming to all. I'd recommend this shop to everyone! read more

Long over due! We love this place and have been coming for 2 years now. My 4 year old gets his haircut with John & Kevin, they keep him distracted and comfortable. They always greet us and make us feel welcomed. If the wait is too long, they tell me right when i walk in instead of waiting for minutes sitting down. I love supporting small shops especially when they find value in their regulars! read more

I came in last min while I was in town working The Magic Castle in June. They were slammed but Kevin was able to give me an appointment later that day. That guy was amazing!! His work was spot on, he took his time and didn't rush anything. He had great conversation and I 100% recommend him and would go back to him in a heartbeat!! Notice this post is months after I went, only because that's how much he stuck in my head! Thanks so much Kevin, you are MAN!! read more

Alyssa was a 10/10. I don't think Iv ever had a barber give such excellent and efficient service. What stood out to me was as a first time client she took the time to know exactly what I wanted. She made me feel confident that the cut would turn out exactly how I wanted it and she killed it. Thanks again Alyssa! read more

Place is awesome! Alyssa gave me a nice hair cut, people are friendly. definitely will be coming back

Can you imagine having a service business post Covid19 craziness? Im just happy to get my hair cut, period. Haircut was good and all the guys seem to be doing a good job. I imagine not everyone will be happy. It's impossible to be 100% in this earthly existence, isn't it? For now this place got my 5 Stars on the haircut. And ambience and decoration gets 5 stars as well. I got the cut and wash service (sorry no beard here lol) read more

Everyone at the shop is welcoming and nice. Lots of new faces. Got my haircut by Alyssa and it was a great experience. Honorable mentions: Lisa, Kevin, Danny and Tony- whole shop is just fun to be around. I definitely will be coming back and recommending for people to visit. read more

I walked in because Tip Top was super busy. The service was $34, which I thought was pretty hefty, but I was in a hurry, so I agreed. The gentleman had a soft, insecure hand so right away I knew it wasn't going to go well. He cut off about half of my beard by swiping the machine. If I'm being charged $34, I would think it's getting shaped. He blended it instead of angling it. I'll stop there with complaining about his lack of experience. When it was time to pay, I handed him $40 and he asks me if I need change. Of course I do. I work on tips too, and you never suggest if you can keep the tip. When I said, "yes" politely, he says "we actually don't have change right now." At this point I was done and let him keep the tip, but you'll never see me here again The place was cool, they played good music and the other dudes seemed awesome. This guy majorly fucked it up for me, though. I didn't get his name, but he had the first chair, short guy, huge nose piercing and long hair. Wore shades. Expensive, badly cut, and entitled. Never again. read more

Highly recommend this shop. The nostalgic atmosphere and great bunch of barbers will make you wanna come back. I personally get my hair cut by Vic, he has been cutting my hair for years. You will thank me later. read more

Best barber shop in Whittier. Every single barber is at its highest caliber of professionalism. With a barber shop at every corner, this barber shop stands alone as the sharpest. If you're looking for a barber shop to call home, look no further. Excellent apex service. read more

Very cool and welcoming vibe. Nice motorcycle decor. Friendly barbers. Danny gave me a shave and beard trim. Very smooth with a straight razor plus I only waited literally 2 minutes before being seated. Referred by another awesome Whittier business, The Skin Room. read more

Over the last year or so I've had my hair cut by four different barbers at Speed & Style. After a brief discussion about how I wanted it cut, each time the barber went to work and and I walked out with exactly the cut I wanted. They're a great, friendly, and skilled crew. read more

Worst barbershop in whittier (says a lot). I was prepared to pay 50$ for only fixing a part (5 minute Job) but barbers wanted to leave an hour early. Last time I came here they gave me a pompadour 1950's Frankenstein haircut without me wanting that - guess I'm better off read more

Great barbershop, great price. I used to live in the area but now I live in Ontario and I still come out here to get my haircut.

It's been a while since I've seen these guys since there prior shop. I must say I will be coming here often. I moved away from Whittier and have not had any luck finding a good or decent barbor shop in my area. You must make the trip here great decor if you like old vintage things and the guys are all great ! read more

I really wanted to shoot a 5 star review because I have been a customer of Kevin for awhile but after today I'm just pissed. I would never complain about there being a line, or a wait for a good haircut this is to be expected, I'm always a generous tipper because I know it takes effort and time for my cuts. I walked in today to see Kevin, which he said he was done for the day, so I decided to wait for Danny who said he would help me once he was done with the people before me (also a skilled barber who I refer my friends too) I waited for an hour and a half as he and fellow barbers took their customers, than after an hour an older gentleman walks in, ask for Kevin, they say he's done, he says he's going to take him after all. So no biggie, whatever, I just need a cut at this point... than when it's finally my turn another guy walks in, sits for five min, and Danny takes him prior to me? Was never told there was appointments prior to me waiting there while everyone takes there sweet time and I was not about to wait another hour while they continue to constantly talk non-stop and spread out the time and be up-charged for going beyond business hours since my cuts usually take an hour. Very disappointed in speed&style after today. read more

Went in for a cut today and I get it its busy the day before a holiday, ask for a side cut mid fade and it's not what I got!! A mid fade doesn't go all the way to the curve of your head! Even worse the side where I part got faded in making it look like those regeton douchebag side parts on one side the fade is way higher than the other and on the other side the line isn't even faded! I tried to get it fixed by another barber and was told the fade would have to go higher or just shave it and let it grow back! read more
