It's difficult to find a good barber shop these days. Everywhere you turn, the business has a gimmick or some skeevy people hanging around. Music way too loud, way too inappropriate when children are around, smells like weed and costs way too much. I want to come to a barber shop, not a night club. The last place I'd gotten cuts at even showed nudity on the tv when a kid was in there. No class, so I never went back. I've hopped around for a few years trying to find a new regular shop and I'm glad to have discovered The Barber Shop. The parking can be a little tricky, but once you're inside, you're immediately greeted by a professional and kind barber. The shop is spotless, clean, and open. The signage on the walls are a very nice touch to let you know this is a safe and professional space. I've only worked with one barber in particular and I keep coming back because of the quality of his cuts and again, his courteous demeanor and professionalism. That man is Jay! The first time I came in for a cut, I didn't have an appointment, but he was able to fit me in pretty immediately and a young man came in selling aguas and fruit and Jay asked if I liked horchata. I said who doesn't? how much is it? And he told me "don't worry about it. I got you." What? that was the nicest thing. I need to make it more of a point to go regularly instead of once every few months so I stop looking like a monchichi lol. All 3 of my boys went in today for a cut with Hugo. My husband and I are picky when it comes to their cuts. I'm a licensed cosmetologist (but it's not cool when mom cuts their hair) and my gpa was one of the best barbers on the westside in Venice. Needless to say, we were both pleased and impressed. His lines and fades are clean, and he pays attention to detail. It was easy to tell Hugo treats each client as a blank canvas that he customizes his skill to. The atmosphere is chill with plenty of seating, clean and has a bathroom; it's child and female friendly. After sitting there while my kids were getting their cuts, it quickly became noticeable that each artist takes their time, pays attention to detail, and has their own unique cutting style. Hands down best place for a clean cut. The shop is clean friendly environment and the boys will get you in and out. They do walk ins but I recommend appointments as they have a crowd always. Place was great I took my son in for a last minute hair cut and they made him fresh as can be. I forgot the gentlemans name that cut his hair but it was one of the brothers. My son really likes to complain during hair cuts and they handled it like a champ even gave him a bottled water cuz he complained he was thirsty form the cape choking him. Very disappointed with this place, made an appointment with Vince "Vinny" and was there on time checked in and barber Vince said I have one in front you but I got you, no worries I'll will wait understandable.... Great place clean and all everyone seems to love it and know one another, an hour later barber Vince comes up to me and tells me I will cut your boys hair for free for waiting not knowing he was going to cut someone else's hair when my son was supposed to be next then he tells another one of his friends that he has him next, so I was going to wait another 2 hours to get my sons haircut when I had scheduled an appointment already.
