The strangest think just happened at Tiny Thai. I ordered a spicy dish ... not spicy. I know, a recipe for disaster (pun intended). I came slightly spicy. I thought I could handle it but halfway through it my nose was running and my mouth was on fire. Be clear, I acknowledge that I'm a spicy food wimp. At he end of the meal, I mentioned it to my waiter. I was motivated by my simpatico with servers. I have been one. I assumed the kitchen didn't get the message and I thought he'd want to know. Before my comment was complete, he broke in. "It wasn't spicy. I watched the chef make it." Due to my REALLY good nature, I didn't really process that he was accusing me of lying for a moment and my response stuck in my throat. I know I got that look of condescending disapproval (thanks mom), which didn't help the conversation. I just shut up and took it like man cause that's what I am. I asked another staffer if there was a manager and he asked if I wanted to speak to the owner. I thought for a moment, decided to let my server live and declined. Dude. Even if I was a hyposcovilliac, calling out a customer for lying? I still love tiny Thai and just won't be having that particular server if he's still there he next time I go. My friend and I enjoyed our brunch. I live for delicious Tom Kha on a cold winter day. The coconut milk, galangal and lime juice opened up my palate! I usually go for Pad Thai when I'm in a rush but this time I had the Khao-Pat Bhoo... Fried rice with lump crab meat, egg, onion, chopped carrot, pea, corn and cilantro. Served with 'Nam Pla Prik' sauce, sliced tomato, cucumber, cilantro and a chunk of lime. Delicious. My friend ordered the Suki Hang which was supposed to be medium-spicy but he sweat! Sweat in a good way! We brought our own bottle of Prosecco for mimosas, and thank goodness! It was a perfect pairing. Suki Hang is a street-style dish stir-fried glass noodle with shrimp, squid, bay scallop, egg and assortment of vegetables (spinach, napa cabbage, celery and scallion) in Thai sukiyaki sauce. - I had to help him finish it... My Khao-Pat with lime and a sip of mimosa made a brilliant chaser/combo... We're going back and exploring the menu some more! read more

The vegetarian mock duck was fun (but not the yummiest.) The pad see yew made vegan was a bit boring, tbh--perhaps soy sauce could be on the table? Overall, it was fine. I'd give it a 3.5/5.0. This is hands down the best Thai food that I have ever had. You cannot go wrong. Lunch portions are huge and dinner is always wonderful.

Holy lover of spice gods! This place is SO GOOD. If you are ever craving a hit of ridiculously delicious, pretty authentic, spicy Thai food then you've hit the jackpot at Tiny Thai. You cannot go wrong with what you order but my favorites are the Talay Thai (mountain of spicy, aromatic seafood), the salmon in panang curry sauce, and the crab fried rice. If you stick to the classics then the pad thai is great! I also like the kua kling which is a spicy mince chicken dish. There is also an "authentic thai" section of the menu where you cannot alter the spice level of the dish and anything from that section is just fab! read more

I read reviews on Yelp before going and ignored most of the 1 stars realizing most people who write those dont have any appreciation for how a restaurant works and so on... Our friends who lived in burlington a while back were drooling when we said we'd be going here so i figured we were on to something. We we right. I had Penang Curry and my girlfriend got a Ginger Chicken stir fry, we also tried the spring rolls, Tom Kha soup, and a salad i cant recall the name of it. Everything was excellent, my curry wasnt as spicy as i wouldve like it when i was brought out, but our server using his heat sensing eyes said he didnt think it looked too hot and that he would bring me a spice tray with chili paste and dried peppers and it did the trick. The only reason i dont give em the 5 stars is because when we arrived we were told there'd be a 10 min wait for a table. I was fine with this, i never mind seeing a place this busy a half hour before closing time. However while we were waiting for our table, another table of 2 walked in and were immediately sat by the other hostess. So i can see what some people mean about the service being hectic and all. This did put me in a bit of a mood to begin but our server and the food were enough to make up for it. All in all really good thai food and we had 3 apps and 2 dinners for 29 bucks! good stuff. read more

I ordered pad thai. It was slimey and there was SO much peanut sauce. It also came out in like 10 minutes and was weirdly dry. It tasted like leftovers... there were like no veggies in it either.... just sketchy. Also no salt and pepper on tables. read more

I have never written a bad review before but this was too much. The Pad Thai smelled like the inside of a barn and was too overwhelming to eat. My partner has been sick this morning after eating part of their dish. Neither of us could eat much the food because, well it tasted pretty much exactly like it smelled. On the quality of the food alone, this is a complete 1 star. On food alone it is the worst Thai I have ever had, and it is the worst spot I have tried in the greater Burlington/Winooski area. I have eaten here MANY times and LOVE it! You should know a couple things before going to this restaurant: 1. You can bring your own alcohol, they don't serve it but welcome carry-in bottles. 2. It is usually CRAZY busy and parking can be tricky so come early and don't be in a rush. 3. It's a small place, not great for infants who need to move around. 4. They are closed a couple of the days during the week, can't remember which, I usually go on Friday or Saturday. 5. The best waitress is the women with the long brown hair that wears it up. I use to go here and get HUGE portions! They have changed cooks or something because the portions are HALF the size they use to be. I will be driving out of my way to Sukho thai in Essex center! I complained last time about the portions being MUCH smaller than before and the guy had told me if I don't get a protein or extra veggies then they keep the portions the same. If you're paying $15 for a meal shouldn't you get your moneys worth? With extra rice to compensate for the lack of protein? I'm incredibly frustrated! read more

We stopped at Tiny Thai passing through Burlington on our way to Montreal, looking for someplace with veggies on the menu after a very long day of flights. Tiny Thai definitely fit the bill. We ordered the spring rolls (which were good, but surprised us by being fried--we were anticipating fresh spring rolls), Panang stir fry, and Krapow stir fry. All of it was good--not great--and the service was decent. Both dishes were large, which usually annoys me, but was great in this instance because when we got to Montreal it was late and the leftovers really hit the spot. One serious drawback of Tiny Thai: they don't serve alcohol. So if, like me, you MUST have a beer with your Thai food, remember to bring your own (yes, they allow that). read more

I found this place by accident while traveling through the area for work. Now I make sure to stop in any time I am in the area! Nice, small, clean place. The food has great portion sizes and tastes amazing. Very reasonable prices. I tend to get the Special Eggplant dish. Note: When they say spicy, they mean SPICY!! Even when it was almost too spicy to eat the flavors make me keep going! Tom Yam soup is also extremely tasty. The parking is a little goofy if you are from out of town. read more

The owner or manager of this restaurant is the rudest individual! A few years ago, when we asked a question about table availability, he shouted "Shut up" and ran out the door. Very strange. More recently, when I was picking up take out, he insisted in arguing about whether I had entered the correct phone number for my order. This has now happened two times in a row. He insists that we will receive a text telling us when the order is ready, but there was no prompt to enter our phone number. We like the food but this guy has driven us away. One of my favorite Burlington area restaurants. Massaman curry is to die for, and the lunch special is the best deal in town.

Good food. Fast service and seating. Overall great experience up until I got 2 cups of water spilled on me. Wasn't upset about the water being spilt on me am upset nothing was comped from my meal due to have water spilt down my back while eating. Probably will not return. read more

I LOVE Tiny Thai! The food is amazing and I've had everything on the menu except for salads or anything with coconut. The only reason I give Tiny Thai four stars is because they have HORRIBLE customer service. You have to constantly flag them down for extra napkins and more water. They have spicy food, so you would think they would be on top of this. A previous review stated that it is not kid friendly and I completely agree with this. We no longer eat at Tiny Thai because of their lack of customer service. I highly suggest trying Tiny Thai if you haven't already but do yourself a favor and order take-out. read more

My favorite Thai restaurant!! Note it is BYOB, which can be fun if you are with a group and you want to share some wine or beers. The drunken noodles are my very favorite!! Very spicy, which I love. The service in this place is awful!!! Avoid at any cost. Food is okay, but this ppl really don't know how to treat their customers, they are rude! I gave them zero tip for the awful experience. Apparently a group of 6 is way to much for them to accomodate! We had to seat on two different tables (we should have left at this point, however the group didn't want to go out in the cold again). We asked to them to put the two tables together to what they answered very rudely that the "owner said NO" Different people kept bringing random stuff and I didn't realize who was our waiter until the end of the meal. We ate there on Saturday night and I thought the food was excellent. We ordered spring rolls for an appetizer and they came out hot and crisp albeit a little pedestrian. However, for $4 (for three rolls) who cares, right? For my meal, I got the "drunken noodles". I thought they were delicious but then again, I'm no expert on authentic Thai cuisine. They were hot and fresh and spicy! Exactly what I used to get at Parima, in Burlington. Good enough for $10.50. The BYOB policy is very nice. Bought a bottle of wine and split it with my friends for a fraction of what it would have cost us to buy it by the glass, had the place sold alcohol. The two credit cards per table almost sent us away but one of my friends ran up the road to her bank and got cash. That policy has to go. Pretty lame. The reason I will never return to this restaurant was the audacity of the manager to ask us to leave just after we finished eating. We hadn't even received our bill yet and we were finishing our wine. He said he needed the table for other people who were waiting. Now, I understand his plight. There was a long line of folks waiting. However, our plates had yet to be pre-bussed and we hadn't received our bill. I imagine this guy is quick on the trigger in many regards. So, I guess it is what it is. I can make that meal at home so I won't be missing anything. read more

Some of the worst service I have ever experienced at any restaurant, casual or otherwise. I have been there twice and both times the service was sub-par. The first time we waited for over 30 minutes before a server even acknowledged our table. The second time I was equally underwhelmed with the service and, after picking up the bill for the table, the server actually walked out and explained to me in front of the entire group that my tip, which was just shy of 15%, and generous given the level of service, was far lower than the 20% he typically expected. He then handed me the receipt, expecting me to increase the tip. It's very unlikely that I will eat here again. read more

After a few years, I decided to try Tiny Thai again, hoping that somewhere along the way, the food had improved. My friend and I both went for lunch. I ordered the pad see ew and it was about as "authentic Thai" as Chef Boyardee is for Italian lasagna. Though the satay was tasty, it was also ice cold. My friend had pad kee mao but it didn't resemble the Thai dish in any way. It did not have any spicy kick to it at all and the ingredients looked and tasted like an American stir fry. Her Tom Yum soup was the typical lime juice flavored hot water with a couple pieces of vegetables tossed in, as is typical of most of the other Americanized Thai restaurants in the Burlington area. No lemon grass or any of the other Thai ingredients. Oh well. Too bad, Tiny Thai used to be pretty good until they moved away from their original spot at Lang Farm in Essex. There is a new Thai restaurant in the Newport area though and I may drive up there. From what I see of the photos, the food looks exactly like what I have enjoyed in Bangkok. read more

Fantastic food and prices. With a family of 4 it's a great place for adults (the authentic menu) and kids (their children menu is fantastic and their book selection keeps them occupied before and after dinner). If so great, why 2 stars? Simply put: the lack of hospitality and smugness of staff. I get that TT is popular but the attitude from the owner and manager of staff is incredibly rude. I have been here many times with 2-4 people and never really noticed this until we brought a party of 10 on a weekend day after the lunch rush. There was plenty of room, but they refused to seat us by moving four empty adjacent 2-people tables together: "the owner don't allow us to move tables together". In fact while we were talking with them about accommodating our party they would seat a party of 2 exactly at one of the four tables even though many other small tables were available. This was incredibly rude and smug behavior. They then asked us to split our party up and told us that they would accommodate us up to 6 people at a time, but we would have to wait until their large 6-people table would empty out (ironically, they had already seated a 4-person family at a 6-person table). We left and I have not been back since then and I am not sure I want to come back even if their food is good. People matter more than food. TT should know better... read more

Excellent value for lunch. I had the Pad Si-Ew with tofu. It was very flavorful and the portion size was just right. I also liked that it included a small salad. The only thing I didn't like was that the hot tea is served in a cup with the Lipton tea bag in it. I was looking forward to a nice pot of tea on this chilly day. My lunch companion had the Param Long Song with Chicken. I liked this dish even more than mine - I will be ordering this next time.
