    Hello
    Gina A.

The decor is quirky and fun. It's a trailer that has been converted into a take out stop for some amazing German food. There is a small indoor seating space. They have a very extensive menu with lots of options. Many authentic dishes that stay true to their original flavors. The pretzels are amazing. All things on the menu are homemade. The owners are extremely knowledgeable and personable! You feel like you are visiting a friend. You can clearly tell that they put their heart and soul into this place.

Round 2!!! Been almost 2 months and been dreaming of this place the whole time!! Took my daughter this time so we got some different food today! But.. as usual.. 10/10!! Today we got the pleasure of meeting the chef .. the husband. He's just as awesome as his wife! Sadly we went late and they only had a SMALL pretzel left but that was my fault for not going earlier. I stuck to the schnitzel plate with the potato salad. My daughter got the schnitzel wrap. My son got the homemade braut plate. Plussss.. we had to get the cherry strudel. It was hot as hell up there today so the chef kindly told us we could sit in our car with AC and he would bring our order to us. Less than 15 minutes later he brought out our bags of amazing food!! We all had to take a few bites before we got back on the road on our way back down to San Antonio and I'll tell you it is always worth the drive!! Next time.. going early for a BIG PRETZEL!! So appreciate the authenticity and love put into this amazing German food.

An amazing piece of Germany in Pipe Creek. Kimberly was so nice and welcoming, and explained the menu as it was our first time here. The schnitzel was fresh (you could hear them pounding it) and everyone loved their meals. We sat outside and the food was brought out hot and delicious. This is a must go place for anyone who likes good food and good people!!

We've heard so much about Tiny Schnitzel Haus that we had to visit. My husband grew up in Germany and misses authentic German food. We're just down the road from Pipe Creek so checking this gem was a no-brainer. Oh my! We loved it. There were only two of us but we ordered the huge German Oak platter to get a chance to try a bit of everything. It was delicious. From the different wurst options to the fantastic schnitzel with jaeger sauce on the side. Don't miss the yummy sides. We had German potato salad, cucumber salad, and had an order of kraut balls as well. That huge pretzel was also delectable. We want Black Forest cake too but had to get it to go. We were stuffed. The family that owns and operates this great little venue are warm and welcoming. They took the time to tell us about the place and their plans for the future. We live this place and will visit lots.

We arrived early but the owner was super friendly. Her husband is originally from Germany so most of the recipes are from his Grandmother. She took the time to explain everything thoroughly! It's a food truck that had an open porch that they are now enclosing. There are fans and a window unit inside as well as outdoor seating. Everything is freshly made,(I hear her beating the pork as we eat our pretzel) lol Pork schnitzel, schnitzel sandwich, beef brat, apple strudel-had spatzel and cucumber salad-loved it all- get more mushroom sauce to pour over the spatzel

I saw that this restaurant had opened up in Pipe Creek and wanted to try it. Since my camper is stored two miles away from it, I decided that I would wait until I needed to go to the storage lot for some reason. One Saturday, I needed to drop some things off and pick some things up, so I invited my son to ride along and told him we would eat German food after that. Unfortunately, due to circumstances beyond the restaurant's control, they had to shut down that day, and we ended up driving to San Antonio to eat somewhere else. Today, I had to go to Pipe Creek to winterize my camper and decided to stop in to the Tiny Schnitzel Haus for lunch. When I arrived, I was the only person there. I ordered my meal and immediately heard the sound of pork being pounded coming from the kitchen. They make everything fresh to order like that. I took a seat in the little dining room and waited for my food. It was a short wait. My meal choice was pork schnitzel, spaetzle, and potato salad. They had some mushroom gravy, so I actually had JagerSchnitzel. It came with a tiny little device to squeeze fresh lemon juice on it. I had never seen one of those. Anyway, I took a bite of everything to try it out. The potato salad was really good. It had nice seasonings and didn't rely on an over-sweetened vinegar base like so many places use. The spaetzle was nearly identical to the kind my mother's friend made. It was nicely seasoned and soft. I don't care for the dry chewy stuff. The schnitzel was pounded perfectly thin. The breading was very light and crispy and did not overpower the pork. The mushroom gravy was perfect. The chef knows exactly what to do to get the full flavor of the mushrooms. It was on the thinner side, which is a plus. I wish I had tried some of the baked goods, but I wasn't really hungry when I started. I brought about half of my meal home and had it for supper. It was just as delicious the second time around. The only way I can describe this venue is "cute". They use a trailer for the kitchen, but have built around it in a really interesting way. The dining room used to be a deck. When they closed it in, they kept some windows. I was entertained by a woodpecker who seemed to be begging to join me. The owners are very nice people. The wife, who took my order and served it to me, chatted with me for a few minutes. I felt like I was sitting in some friend's living room chatting. I can't wait to come back with both my son and my wife. She won't eat a lot of ethnic foods, but she does like bratwurst. They have several different kinds. Plus, I can't imagine her leaving without ordering one of their homemade pretzels! One last thing... For those of you who think it is too far to drive to Pipe Creek- trust me. It is not. It took me thirty minutes from my house on Mainland off of Bandera. It would have taken me just as long to go to any restaurant on the I-10 corridor.

WHAT A GEM! This little piece of heaven is like transporting your taste buds to Germany. The food is DEVINE. If you're in the area, this is a must stop for any foodie. You won't be disappointed. I've been twice now, and with both visits, I had an amazing experience. Not only is the food beyond impressive, but the owners are delightful people! Thank you!!

The last time I had currywurst that I liked this much was in Frankfurt near the airport, like 15 years ago. Such good texture in the hand-made spaetzel, too. My husband is 100% Hill Country German, and he is currently inhaling the chicken schnitzel sandwich. Try to stop here if you can!

We found this place by complete accident while driving around and getting lost. My wife saw the Bavarian and German flags on the street, so we made a u turn and stopped in. Its a very cute place with outdoor seating. They offer schnitzel and German sausages. The two guys working there were very friendly. Food was prepared to order and we even heard them smashing the schnitzel. Food came out real quick and it was spot on. Everything tasted like real authentic homemade German food. Highly recommend coming by and trying them out.

Located in the charming Hill Country of Texas, this little gem of a place was an unexpected discovery a few weeks ago. The funky "F O O D" sign out front alerts you to something unusual, worth stopping in to take a peek. The "Tiny Schnitzel House" features all of your German homemade favorites. The staff will even send you a text to let you know that what you like is available fresh from the oven. Talk about AMAZING customer service!!! Today they texted me to let me know my pretzels were ready ... so I ran over to pick some up. It's become my latest favorite treat. I'd say my peek a few weeks ago ... turned into a love affair with German fare. Check them out, you won't be disappointed!

Pork schnitzel. Red cabbage and potato salad. Sorry but this is round 2 on it.

From the outside it has great atmosphere where looked like been here for ever. The inside was just the same old and explorative. Our waitress seemed like she was from Germany which added to the ambiance of the place. I ordered the Wienerschnitzel like the menu stated topped with house pickled onion, capers and fresh lemon, served with rotkohl and spatzle. I also had to get a German beer to compete the experience. The Wienerschnitzel was extremely good and enjoyed it very much. It was also fun to walk around to see what else this place had to offer.

The food is excellent--properly executed, structurally sound, and refreshingly uninterested in novelty for novelty's sake. Each dish arrives as intended, which already places it well above much of the contemporary dining landscape. The beer selection is unapologetically German and thoughtfully curated, clearly assembled for people who understand that tradition is not a flaw in need of correction. The ambiance is immaculate: authentic without cosplay, warm without affectation. It feels lived-in rather than staged, as if comfort and coherence were priorities rather than marketing angles. Service is attentive, calm, and mercifully non-performative. No hovering, no scripts--just someone quietly ensuring that nothing detracts from the experience. More broadly, it serves as a reminder that appreciating a culture requires intellectual maturity: the ability to acknowledge historical atrocities while still recognizing the depth, discipline, and humanity embedded in its food, craft, and social rituals. Reducing an entire civilization to its worst chapter is lazy thinking. Altdorf manages to honor culture without evasion or nostalgia.

They were pretty booked up but as it was cold outside they let us switch our reservation from patio to bar seating. We really enjoyed our meal. The waiters were very attentive and happy to talk through the menu with us. Ultimately we decided on a pretzel as our appetizer, with lamb chops as our entree to share and a side of kasespatzle. The pretzel was warm and a nice size and we thoroughly enjoyed the beer cheese. We finished the cheese halfway through the pretzel and the waiters were kind enough to bring us another one. Next for the kasespatzle - which from my understanding is the German version of mac and cheese. It was very tasty and hearty! More filling than I expected. The lamb chops were the crown jewel of the night - rich and succulent and paired so well with the asparagus. The chef was kind enough to make another lamb chop for us as she saw how the meat shrunk while cooking it. The meal was so tasty and a good size for sharing! We were very full by the end. I'm so glad we tried this place! It would be perfect for date night, a meeting with coworkers or family dinner. I like that they have an intimate inside area as well as the outdoor patio. It's great the way it is, and trying to make it fancy doesn't make it better. But I've always thought that if a restaurant has only a few options on its menu, they had better all be great, and I didn't find that to be the case at Otto's. One of us had the schnitzel au gratin, which seemed more to be like a chicken Parmesan. I had the duck schnitzel. I would say they were just both OK. The fried potatoes that came with the au gratin schnitzel were left largely untouched on my companion's plate. There wasn't much flavor to my red cabbage, and my spaetzel seemed to be more like a modern day risotto. And this at a restaurant that makes you leave your credit card for a reservation and threatens to charge if you cancel less than 24 hours before. For that, it had better knock my socks off. But my socks are still on, and they won't be walking back to Otto's. Extra star for the great location.

We sat in the bar area, and whenever I go to a new brewery, I always get a flight to try multiple beers. Altstadt has flights but they are prefixed, you can't make your own. Slight irritation but nothing major. I ended up getting a more German style flight with a Kolsch, Hefe, Lager, and Amber. They were all good with the Hefe being my favorite.
