It was rainy and muddy, but the family that owns the farm was so kind and welcoming! They had baby chicks that the kids could pet and had set up a great egg hunt around the farm! My boys were very interested in the chickens and goats! I definitely hope to visit Godsell Farm in the future and would highly recommend to anyone else as well!

You park in the lot and walk to the Welcome Center to pay the $5 per person admission, which includes the hayride with hay bales (not lame wooden benches with a few strands of straw on it like most places), haunted maze, bread for feeding the farm animals and touring the grounds. Pumpkins range in price from $3 to $6, and you pick them in patch. Animals include horses, ponies, pigs, a llama, a donkey, a cow, turkeys, goats, chickens, and ducks. The staff is extremely welcoming and friendly! Godsell Farm is my new favorite place for pumpkin picking and affordable Fall family fun! It is a MUST visit! You still have time this year yet!

The land is 78-acres which allows for lots of steps, various areas such as the children's section, goat animal area, restaurant, pick your own apples, wedding venue barn along with farm shop and bakery. Visiting here will expose you to apple cider donuts (some of the best I have ever had), apple cider slushies, coffee, cookies, pickled vegetables, apple butter, wine, and games such as Holler Hoops, Skee ball, Giant Slide, corn maze and the golden goat bridge which showcases dwarf goats crossing high above and down ladders. The pick your own apples is spendy, but I justify the price by the amount of work it takes to run this establishment, the quality of products and joyous customer service. For 2 small bags, it was about $58.00. To pick, you can walk or hop on the hayride train. We took the hayride out to the orchard and ended up walking and wandering back. The hayride is worth going on because it will take patrons through a forest that has whimsical paintings on the trees resembling Alice in Wonderland. *note: be aware that if you attend after rainfall like we did, the grounds are extremely muddy and it is best to wear appropriate footwear. As we were traveling, we only had 1 pair of shoes with us and had to be very selective on our apple picking, whereas if we were locals, we wouldn't mind wet feet and mud. Apple Holler is a memory making space and who doesn't love memories. The bathrooms were even top notch which should give flavor into how well kept the property is. If we had more time in the area, I'd for sure return to check out the Red Barn Restaurant which serves both breakfast and lunch all day. Bravo, Apple Holler! Consider your new slogan (thanks to one of your staff members), "If you need anything, just holler." This could be plastered on t-shirts and said by staff walking around just like Kwik Trip says, "we'll see you again soon."

However this year was so incredibly disappointing, that this will be our last year coming here. We go at the same time, every year. This year there was absolutely no apples to pick from the trees! We were out in the orchard for nearly TWO HOURS and I picked maybe two off a tree for the two 1/4 pecks purchased. Instead, they offered pre-picked apples in bins to pick from. I'm sorry?? Like at the grocery store?! Only if we went to the store, it wouldn't have cost us roughly $58 for 6 pounds of apples!! We know the weather has been spotty this year, but that's where Apple Holler should have taken the time to make an announcement about the "slim pickings" (really, no pickings) and encouraged people to come another time or for other services. Also prices keep going up, and much more than simply "keeping up with inflation". If inflation is really the cause, you need to keep the core experience the same. It's been going down each year, but this year was a total fail, bust, lemon; no matter what you call it, it wasn't worth the money. This has been such a tradition for us that it's a little sad to close this chapter, but my husband and I are looking forward to a new location where we feel our experience matches the upfront cost.

Swan's Pumpkin Farm: This local gem of a pumpkin patch was founded in 1976 by Ken Swan, making 2026…read moreits 50th anniversary. For me, Swan's is synonymous with pumpkins because as early as kindergarten, we'd make an annual pilgrimage to the farm as a class trip. A lot has changed since my frequent visits in the 1990's, but the core elements of what makes this quintessential pumpkin farm special are mostly intact. It is still geared towards families with plenty to do for young kids, such as a petting zoo, hayrides, pumpkin jump pad (like a bounce house), and the Witch Hollow Corn Maze. There's also a 9-acre Corn City Maze for older kids and adults, which other than the 50th anniversary, was my main reason for checking out my favorite pumpkin farm after a long hiatus. Tickets cost $7 and I was informed that it takes approximately one hour to complete, so ticket sales stop at 5pm, which is one hour prior to the farm's closing time. I moved at a leisurely pace and was unencumbered by small children. That said, it took me approximately 30 minutes to complete. This was a little disappointing as I did a maze last fall at another Racine County farm (Borzynski's) and that took 1 hour and 20 minutes to complete. I thought Swan's maze was a neat experience, and it gave me a nice touch of nostalgia as I fondly remember corn mazes from my childhood. I recommend checking it out, but I think it would be challenging to do with young children that require a stroller as the ground is obviously dirt and not even. My only other complaint is that I remember when I was a kid, Corn City wasn't a maze, but a short loop through the cornfield that featured "citizens" that were mockups of celebrities but with painted pumpkins on a stuffed body (sort of like a scarecrow). Swan's website actually still lists this as a thing, but I didn't see it. I think it would have been cool if they would have placed some of the citizens as exhibits in a few of the dead ends in the maze. Just sort of a missed opportunity in my opinion. Additionally, there's obviously pumpkins for sale ($0.40/pound), snacks, and a small shop. There is also no fee for parking or entering the farm, so head on over and make some memories with your kids this fall. Who knows, maybe one day they'll be writing about it like me, for the 75th anniversary. Three stars for the maze (should be longer for $7) and five stars for the farm, four stars overall.

It's a perfect place for a day of fun for families, daycare groups, or school trips. They have all kinds of easy to eat snacks and picnic food available and places to sit. The activities available are a corn maze, a hayride, a little barrel, train ride, pony rides, a pedal track area, a giant combine slide, a petting zoo, and a few different whack-a-mole push button type games. There are photo ops galore! And, of course they have all types of gourds, pumpkins, squashes, honey, etc for sale.
