My microwave oven range hood is not satisfactory and the smoke alarm goes off all the time because I cooked a lot and generated a lot of smoke. I found TX5J Handyman ("Daniel & Crew") on Yelp and contacted them. Danel came over, did a detailed FREE inspection and gave me a competitive quote in 24 hours. I then decided to hire them for the job. They came in at 7:30 A.M. in the morning to beat the summer heat. It requires piping and extension exhaust vent directly to outside top siding. It was not an easy job but they completed the job at 2:45 p.m. I am completely satisfied and happy with Daniel & His Crew. Photo is attached "Before and After". P.S.1 It's beautiful isn't it? Yes, they even did the "white box" enclosure (so you won't see the pipe) between the roof and the under cabinet that holds the HAUSLANE range hood to make it look first class+style. Thank you for your help. You people did a good job.

I got frustrated and started a project on Yelp, TX 5J handyman responded very fast to my inquiry and came on the same day to give me estimate. Then gave me a very honest diagnosis for a short term fix and long term fix. I went with the short term for now and they came back the second day to fix it now the drain doesn't leak anymore. Daniel is very fast response to my inquiry over the text; and they did a good job fixing it at a decent price. Highly recommend for others to use them.

Several of my neighbors in our condo community had him replace windows and doors, paint spaces and replace floors in their units, and recommended him highly. I gave him a call, he picked up on the first ring, got all the information he needed and literally completed the job the next day. (Check out the photos of his work that I posted -- the vertical matchstick mosaic kitchen backsplash turned out awesome!) I found him to be professional, skilled, pleasant, considerate and reasonably priced. His attention to detail was impressive, especially since the mosaic design I chose for my backsplash was intricate and technically difficult to install. He takes pride in the finished product he delivers, and even removed one small piece of tile that came irregularly shaped, and replace it with a well-formed piece -- even after he had completed the install. I grew up in the construction industry, and I can definitely recommend Mark for any home construction or remodel job you may have. Quality guy :)

Well, no. I gave him a 15 minute grace period before calling him to find out where he was. No answer. Texted him to find out how far out he was. No answer. So I'm guessing he either forgot or he doesn't care. I get it. Austin is a booming town now and these guys have all the business they can handle, but customer service is not just a down economy thing. I can't speak to the quality of Darrell's work because he didn't even show up to scope out the job. He wasted my time and hopefully won't waste yours.

I had a random list of items that came up on the inspection for the house we had just bought that we knew we wanted done. Darrell has a broad knowledge base on home repairs and was able to fix everything on the list quickly, and also gave his recommendation on what could wait (or what would be easy and cheaper for us to just do ourselves). Fast forward a few months-we have continued to call on Darrell for various projects throughout the house. I'm 9 months pregnant and trying to get it all done before the baby comes and Darrell has risen to the challenge. He was able to repair our outdoor kitchen, match the stonework, wire in some new lighting and helped talk us through (and out of) doing a pricey pergola addition (I appreciated his honesty!) He most recently installed closet shelving, matching the existing and mostly useless laundry room shelves (with his perfectionist attention to detail) . Being around during the day while contractors are working in the house, it's nice to find someone who not only knows their stuff but is also just a genuinely nice guy to be around. I'm grateful that we've found a 'Darrell of all trades' handyman that I can call on for whatever comes up with our house over the years.
