A nice clean, comfortable music store. I was greeted when I came in, and someone was there to help me once I got my bearings. It's nice to be able to hear in a music store, and it's nice to see directly who your money is going to. read more

When I moved into the area, I was so relieved to find this place! I think they specialize in brass instruments, but I needed to stock up on curriculum and materials for my piano students. Sure, you can go online for almost anything these days, but these guys are worth meeting in person. They gave me a discount for using cash and another discount for being a teacher! BUT WAIT... there's more: I referred my friend and we both got discounts :) They have the biggest hearts and I often receive e-mails about how they get involved in their community. read more

Once again I received great service at Tim's Music. I have purchased a couple of trumpets from them over the years and have had repairs and maintenance done there many times. This time it was Kennedy who worked on my horn and did a great job. Thanks much! read more

The people who work here are really nice, and the service is very high quality, but DO NOT RENT USED INSTRUMENTS HERE I rented two different used Jupiter Alto Saxophones and both of them had really big leaks. When I asked them to check it out they said nothing was wrong I then took it to Tauges Music and they found leaks in it. I suggest if you are going to rent instruments new or used you go to tauges music, they have better Yamaha instruments vs Jupiter instruments. But otherwise the people are really nice and friendly. read more

Compared to other places in town, Tim's is bright clean and modern. They have LOTS of instruments and stuff. The staff is very friendly. We rented a flute for my daughter and it is of very high quality and at a reasonable cost. read more

My daughter is in beginning band at a middle school and the schools music teacher recommended this place to purchase music items. This place is awesome, gave a discount on the musical item we purchased. The staff was friendly, thanks. read more

I just rented a cornet for my 5th grader from Tim's. The store is immaculate and well-stocked and the staff is friendly and knowledgeable. The process was very easy and the cost is reasonable ($25/month). Plus, they will apply most of the rental fees toward purchase in the future should she decide to stick with it. I am very happy with my experience with Tim's and recommend to all folks renting band instruments. read more

Stop by to buy a case for my nieces ukulele. Instantly greeted and assisted by the sales person. This store is gorgeous and the customer service was great. Next time I'm in the area I will definitely stop in just to browse. read more

Tim's is great. I took my sax in for a minor repair and I picked up a couple of items while I waited. I always look forward to going to Tim's. Great customer service and friendly sales staff...lot's of stuff to see, too! read more

I was tasked with taking my husbands trumpet to get serviced. Someone recommended Tim's Music so that is where I ended up taking it. I have to say the price I paid was well worth it. They explained what needed to be done and why and had the trumpet done in a timely manner. And everyone that I came into contact with was not only professional, they were very friendly and more than willing to answer questions. I would definitely recommend Tim's for any of your musical needs! read more

I cannot say enough about Tim's! We just started going there last year and they are truly amazing. The staff are all musicians and really know the trade. We have had my son's instruments serviced there and they are always on time and do more work for less money that any other music store I have been to. I am really in awe of just how knowledgeable and friendly they are! I cannot recommend them enough! read more

Tim's has been our musical haven for nearly ten years. Everyone is so pleasant professional as well as musicians themselves, so they get it when we walk in with a panic looked in our eyes because a valve is stuck and college auctions are the next day. We like to visit music stores when we travel, just to see what's out there and with only one exception, we've not found a store that as the breadth of merchandise and technical repair expertise. Thank you for taking such good care of our instruments and our musicians. read more

I really couldn't be happier with Tim's. I've been here a few times in the past and the staff has been consistently helpful and polite. I stopped in today for a new mouth piece and not only was the sale rep really nice but she was super hilarious. The mouth piece (Schilke 14a4a) was a markup from what I've seen online, however customer service goes a long way and Tim's has it in spades... read more

Ok I turned in my double French horn for repair there and they said it'll be done in 2 weeks. I ended up getting it a month and a half later because they kept delaying it. The job was a good 5 star but the fact that it took 3 times as long to get it done is still killing me.. No discount for it either read more

I was being careless and dropped my Yamaha alto saxophone during a college pep game. The E key was finicky in that the pad had a huge leak and the horn was unplayable. The rod controlling the key was bent out of place. Furthermore, the G# key was also affected by this damage as well as the key guard on the bottom. The bell was also bent out of place. I brought it in, and was helped by the same man who did a fantastic job in the mantainenance and tuneup of my instrument 4 months prior, Sam. When I first met him, immediately he related to me, saying that he also played a Yamaha alto sax and loved the horn. He knows saxophones inside and out. Immediately, he stopped what he was working on and took 45 minutes to thoroughly check what was wrong and got everything back in it's proper place again! Once he was done, he played it up and down testing each key to make sure that he fixed the problem. This is excellent quality control! And for a very reasonable price considering the damage. The whole staff makes sure that you are a very satisfied customer and that you are satisfied with the sound of your horn! Tim's is the place to go! read more

My daughter broke a piece on her saxophone that we did not purchase at this store. I took it to the store that we purchased it from, and without looking at it they told me it would be a week to repair. I brought it to Tim's to see if they might be a little quicker. Boy was I surprised!! The repair department took the time to look at the instrument, and it ended up being a 30 second repair. Then, they went above and beyond to take a look at it and made some adjustments that took 3 minutes to make it back to new condition. Awesome friendly service, and obviously a company that has the desire to take care of their customers and make them lifetime customers. Tim's will forever have my business because of the exceptional friendly and honest service I received today! read more

Went there for a trial with Virginia for piano lessons. She started the session by asking me for the payment and handed me a contract! The place was super noisy, could hear other folks in adjacent rooms playing instruments, could barely hear myself :( Virginia was serious and kept looking at the time, more of a corporate executive personality than a musician / artist personality. Asked her if she would do classes at home or anywhere else in a quiet setting? Did not answer me , just gave me a strange look... They have a lot of cool instruments at Tim's , the stars are for the store but would not recommend taking classes there. read more

Best music store I've ever been to! Sales staff are very knowledge, friendly, and most importantly sufficiently staffed for them to have time to spend with you. All the sales staff are experienced musicians, not just a bunch of guitar players, like other music stores. Scott runs a great place and stands behind the instruments he sells. They don't just ring you up and kick you out. When I bought my cello, Scott was more than happy to reshape the bridge and make other adjustments to get it just the way I wanted it, all at no additional charge. Their affiliated instructors are top of the line too. All around great shop! read more

I took an electric violin in because I couldn't keep it in tune for more than a few minutes at a time. They fixed the issue on the spot and didn't even charge me (it was just loose pegs), and showed me how to get the pegs really well seated so I could prevent the problem the next time I restring the violin (I'd never encountered that issue on my acoustic instrument!). read more

Great service! A few years ago I found a used saxophone for my teenage son on Craigslist. Since I didn't know anything about the instrument, I called Tim's to see if they would inspect it for me. They said that they would inspect it for free! I met the seller at Tim's, and not only did the technicians inspect the saxophone, but they made some minor adjustments for free. After I purchased the instrument, I was glad to give Tim's my business by purchasing some saxophone accessories and cleaning supplies. Highly recommend them! read more

You will find outstanding service and reasonable prices for expert attention at Tim's. I had an unfortunate driving accident with my daughter's French horn (school loaner to boot), as well as an overhaul on a 90-year old tuba recently. Tim's was the first place I went, and can recommend them heartily for repairs, and a place to buy a wide range of music-related supplies from people who know instruments. read more

My son started band this year and the teacher recommended we attend Band 101 at Tim's Music. Well I messed up the time, we showed up after it ended. Plus I didn't realize how far it was from our house. Anyway we really lucked out, Matthew the store manager was so kind to give us a quick run down on what we missed. He showed my son and I how to maintain his cornet and provided us with notes on how to be successful, as daily, weekly and monthly maintenance checklist. Matthew was great! He totally made our trip worth the drive. I must admit I wish I had made the drive sooner and rented my son's cornet from them. No offense to the store we rented from but Matthew totally sold us. We'll definitely be back. read more

Great knowledgeable staff! I had a thumb rest installed on my clarinet there and they were quick and fair!

Knowledgeable and helpful staff. Have rented equipment for years with no problems. The new location is a great improvement too.

I drove from Fresno (170 miles) in order to visit Tim's Music and try out several euphoniums which they had available. I was met by Jim Hart with whom I had spoken on the phone and he gave me a complete tour of the facility and then introduced me to Bailey who is their low brass expert. They had four euphoniums for me to try including the J Packer that I was interested in and provided my a practice room, some music, mouthpieces, and helpful hints. I was having problems getting the instruments to play in tune and after a couple of suggestions were not working, Scott, the owner came in, and worked with me for about fifteen minutes. He is also a euphonium player himself and gave some excellent suggestions and then sat down with his own horn and played with me. He had stated that all my intonation problems would resolve with just a couple of rehearsals with my own band, and after about five minutes of playing together he showed me the tuner and most of my problems had already resolved. In all everyone was exceptionally friendly and helpful, even to the extent that I made my purchase on the spot. I will definitely recommend them to my friends and fellow musicians even though it is a long drive for us. read more

LOVE this place!!! Everyone was very friendly and helpful! You can tell that everyone here has a passion for music, and they are excited to help introduce kids to music as well! We picked out a trumpet, and they were very thorough in reviewing the different parts of the instrument, as well as the different options they have regarding rentals. Only $25 a month to introduce your child to an amazing new world, I highly recommend it!! They even gave us a website, www.svsba.net that will give us info for several local adult community bands for my husband and I. Stop by and get mesmerized by all the beautiful instruments, and the happy sounds of music coming from the practice rooms. read more

Yesterday, I accidentally tipped my clarinet over and apparently that caused a bent to a key(s). Dan did a series of repair and tuning works for my clarinet in the past with complete satisfaction. This time, it was no exception again that he inspected/worked on it immediately and fixed the problem right away. I am very glad there's a music store near me where I can rely on my clarinet service needs. read more

Rented clarinet when they came to Folsom by didn't tell me I had to return it to Sacramento. When I returned it and talked to the manager and suggested he let the parent know at rental time he didn't feel it was important I felt he didn't care which equals poor costumer service. read more

Unfortunately I did not know of Tim's Music a few months back when I was looking to upgrade my 50 year old student trumpet. After much searching and a somewhat apprehensive ebay purchase I ended up with something not as advertised- even though the seller had over 2k feedback at 100%. Anyways, I've been in Tim's several times now and have used their repair dept. for my recent online purchase, and to purchase several small ticket items. I also had the opportunity to use a practice room to try several mouthpieces and trumpets- both new and used. Bailey has given me a brief tour of this amazing place. Everyone I've spoken to- Adam, Jim, Kennedy, Christian, Matt and Tim have been very courteous and passionate about music- very impressed with the overall knowledge and professionalism of the staff. As a business owner I really appreciate what has been created here. As a trumpeter when I'm ready to upgrade I can test, make a purchase, and then sell my trumpet on consignment there. There's also the hall where one could try the instrument out in a much larger than practice room. Getting to feel and hear different models, and ask a few questions can save someone a lot of money and frustration down some equipment or learning curve trails. Not sure how they do it at such good pricing either- I was doing online research for the model and materials on my favorite play while there, and of course ads kept coming up- Tim's pricing beat the ad prices even before any shipping was added. As long as Tim's is run the way it is they have a loyal customer in me. read more

My child took some piano lessons with Virginia. We didn't last. This teacher is too strict, mean, and monotonous. How could someone be in the profession of teaching when you're not even good with kids? My child was discouraged and did not look forward to piano lessons. Thankfully, we found a better piano teacher. read more

I have been taking piano lessons from Virginia for 2 1/2 years. She has been patient, gives compliments, tips, laughs, and is very encouraging. Tim's was recommended to us by a friend and we made the 2 1/2 hour drive to have some clarinet repairs done. Laurel was absolutely amazing. Talk about going the extra mile! It was definitely worth the drive and we will be back. Thank you so much! read more

Staff is unprofessional. My ex has an account with them. I told their staff multiple times that I divorced. I had contacted them in the past to remove my contact info (ex used my contact info). While I was there, their staff asked me for his contract info. Their staff even ask if my ex still live with me at the same address!!! Then, i was asked to provide ex's current address (give me a break), so they can contact him for his past due. We are divorced, how would anyone except that I know where my ex lives. I'd never been so embarrassed!!! read more

I stopped by the store to ask if one of the instrument techs would provide information on an old silver cornet my grandfather had owned. After visiting 2 other music shops and being disappointed with service, we took our old saxophone to Tim's for repair. The staff were friendly, knowledgeable and prompt. I brought a professional tenor trombone (Bach 42) to Tim's for cleaning, rotor alignment, and slide lock adjustment. Although the slide worked - IMO - VERY WELL, (moved freely, no dent's, no hang-ups through all positions) I was told that a yearly realignment was recommended. Unfortunately that resulted in severe problems. After picking up the horn, it was obvious that it now moved with resistance and beyond 5th position, it actually hung up (metal to metal). I live in Monterey and after a few weeks, I brought is back to be reworked and corrected. After the horn was picked up and returned to me, it AGAIN exhibited serious flaws. A brass repairman in Santa Cruz evaluated the slide, and determined that work done by Tim's in fact caused the problems. This included the outer upper slide brace protruding into the outer tubing, causing it to "catch" as it moved across and beyond the inner slide shoulder. After TWO repairs, 12 hr. round trips to Sacramento, they offered to try a THIRD time. No "professional" shop should ever put a client in this position. I ended up shipping the horn to L.A., where it was properly repaired. I was so frustrated, I sold the horn. Bottom line: I lost $300 (repair bill at Tims's) plus time and travel expenses twice. I DO NOT recommend Tim's for professional, quality trombone slide work. Second pro tip: if your slide is working well, DO NOT get talked into an annual "realignment". "If it ain't broke...well, you know the rest." read more
