Wonderful service and food. Our party of 16, visiting hikers from Texas, was lucky to find this rustic western themed gem. I had the BLT and it was simply perfection. The place is clean and the staff is great. They have one of the few salad bars around anymore which is a big plus. It has a nice assortment to offer and is always visited by us when we dine there. The food is OK. Rather limited selection unless you are looking for sandwiches. We hear the breakfast is wonderful but we'll have to try that for ourselves at another time. read more

This is an excellent spot for families. Great service and easy family friendly options on the menu. We popped into Tim's Kitchen after visiting Orting for a rugby jamboree. We called ahead to say we were 12 and they had a table ready for us when we arrived. Then other teammates decided to join us, for a total of 22. The staff cheerfully moved tables to accommodate us all. Danielle was a great server - quick to take orders, took the initiative to get the kids' orders to the kitchen first, and offered to spilt the bill. The food came out in good time and was easy family fare in generous portions: burgers, corn dogs, mac and cheese, fried chicken, etc. There is a good public playground right across the street, which the kids enjoyed once they were done. Finally made it to try Tim's Kitchen and was very pleased. Bathrooms are nice and clean, service was pretty good. They have a huge menu, lots of specialty sandwiches so I had my favorite: Monte Cristo, which is hard to find on a menu. Really, really good! So, when I am down that way again ( great place to stop on a nice day drive) I will make sure to eat at Tim's once again. Try it, you will enjoy it. This place was delicious, and worth the 40 minute drive from Tacoma. The chicken fried steak is amazing, and just what a CFS should be. The mashed potatoes were creamy and thick. The mac and cheese was good, but just a little thin and lacking in flavor under the yummy cheesy crust. And, it was a nice option to have the salad bar. The service was attentive and quick. Starting with prompt and friendly greeting! Always a plus! A generous portion of edible food, Ideal!! I have talked to the townfolk and neighbors. I have read the reviews. Nobody seems to be impressed, nor in a hurry to return. BUT! The menu seemed enticing, well written. So, having a need for other people's cooking (and cleaning), I decided to take a gamble! The restaurant is very clean and comfortable. (So are the restrooms! Another test.) I am very pleased with my visit! I took my leftover chicken fried steak dinner home (for another 2 or 3 meals for me!) I did go alone. I was served right away, even though I came in during employees' lunch break. I felt very comfortable and welcomed. Okay... Another BUT! I felt abandoned in an empty new place. And even though the portions are large, the prices are a but expensive. I can't afford to go there. And, I certainly could NOT take a family. Although, a young family was entering as I was exiting. Good to see that! When I can budget for another visit, I will take another gamble! read more

I gave them three stars because the theme of the restaurant is cute, but after sitting in the restaurant for just fifteen minutes with the train music playing over and over it was difficult to sit in there for very long. What a surprise! Gourmet Hotdogs? Who would have thought that you could have a Ruben sandwich as a hotdog .that tasted just like the real thing? I have had hotdogs all over the U.S. and one of the best I have found was at Tim's Kitchen. The atmosphere was welcoming and friendly I felt as if I had walked into that hometown dinner where everyone knew one another and that they were at home. There was a train that ran overhead and gave the place more of that at home feeling. I had great service from what seemed to be a new server as he was very polite nut nervous at the same time. We live in Orting and eat at Tim's, at least once a week. We never miss Wednesday Ribs night. The wait staff is awesome, and Tim is always there making sure everything meets his expectations and that people are happy. We went here for breakfast recently. This is a tough one because we just had the 5$ breakfast which is a really good deal for two eggs, meat, hash browns & toast. The issue wasn't the food. We went in and were sat by a friendly woman, our server came over & when we asked how she was she said "oh I've been better" awkward...my husband tried to lighten the mood and said oh you've been busy? She precedes to tell us that they are short staffed. Brings coffee & than goes away again until the other woman who may have been a manager came & took our order. It didn't look like they were too busy with a few other tables. I know it's small town but when you are in customer service even if you are having a bad day you don't want to share that with your customer, it just makes the experience bad all around regardless. Thankfully the other woman took over our table because we felt like we were just an annoyance to the other server. They should hire better servers. read more

I am an Orting resident and have been to Tim's Kitchen a couple of times now. The food is really good, and the service is exceptional. However, I have a couple concerns. It seems as if older customers are frequenting this restaurant the most. I am in my 30's, and although the old timey theme is cute, in this small town, they may need to change two things. 1. The music is awful. All that plays is old fashioned "saloon" music. For about five minutes, it is really fun, but after that, I am itching to get out of there! It is really bothersome to me. Perhaps they could mix it up with some other 20-40's retro cool music or something. To a music lover, the music in a restaurant sets the mood and adds to the atmosphere. If they want to attract a younger crowd, the music must change. 2. They really need to sell alcohol. Even Chef Robert Irvine (I watch Restaurant Impossible a lot) makes restaurants who don't...start.) You can still have a wholesome, family style restaurant atmosphere with alcohol being served. My suggestion is a few local microbrews, and a few simple wine selections. The bulk of the menu is hot dogs and sandwiches, or simple comfort foods. A beer/sandwich combo is great, and a glass of chardonnay would go nicely with them as well. Anyway, in order to REALLY make money, these two things need to change. I really wanted to love this place. We live in orting and were very excited to have this sort of resturaunt so close. Our first experience was not so great. I went with my mom, sister and my two sons. Our food took over an hour to come out. We were told there was a computer mix up. The lettuce at the salad bar was turning brown. One of my sons got the corn dog bites. They came out very burned. My other son ordered a plain cheeseburger, ketchup only. He got mayo, mustard, lettuce and tomato, everything he didn't ask for. I asked for the grilled cheese, no tomato. I got tomato and was charged for it. They ran out of the dessert we ordered. We had to ask for refills many times. I get that things happen, I've worked in food service before, but literally everyone of our orders were wrong or burned, and waiting over an hour for food is insane, especially when they weren't that busy. tims use to be our favorite breakfast and weekend dinner place untill Randy showed up. he is a lousy rude waiter, does not listen and his piss poor dimeaner does not live up to the five star service we are used to at tims. the first time we got him for a waiter i gave him a 10% tip, i normally give the waiters there a 30% tip because of their excellent service . we would visit tims' 4 to 5 times a month and spend $250.00 to $300.00 a month there. our following visit we asked for a table in aimee section, for some reason she gave it to randy and yes he was rude again and pretty much threw my plate on the table when he brought it our next and final visit to tims' i clearly asked for any table other than randys 'section, and for some reason the girl at the front seated us in randys' section, when my wife and her son got there and discovered we were in randys' section again! after clearly asking for another, we got up and left, we shall never return to tims' again as long as that rude randy works there , so tim randy just cost you $3000.00 a year in lost patrons, congratulations on wrecking our favorite e place to eat read more

my wife and I went in for lunch few days ago the waitress older lady was talking to someone looked at us and kept talking we stood there a good 8-10 min. before she finally greeted us,they only had a few tables and it took a good 25min. to get food we were ok with that....kinda,well until I bit into my burger and it was raw the waitress didn't come back to check on us she was back over talking again so we just paid our bill and left we will never go back. read more
