This week while traveling through Eastern Oregon, I had a check engine light come on. I called a…read morecouple places inquiring is they had the ability to read what the light was indicating. Both said no, but one referred me to Hometown Auto. I pulled in as was greeted by a very nice lady working the front counter. I asked if they had time to hook their computer up to my pickup to determine what the problem was. Her answer was sure (even though they appeared to be busy. A young man downloaded the code but couldn't determine what it meant. He and who I assume was the owner and possibly the husband of young lady, went into the office downloaded to code and determined it was something to do with fuel injection and deceleration. Since I wasn't experiencing any problems, they reset the code (which hasn't reappeared) and said they would just drive it. I went back inside and asked what I owed them. They said nothing. Coming from the Bay Area of Ca, this kind of genuine service and kindness is hard to come by. If your from the area and are in need of mechanical work on a vehicle I would give them a try.

What impressed me is that they put my car on the lift as soon as it arrived. I was planning on getting a motel room and being stuck overnight. What also astonished me is that any normal shop would have dinged me for an hour (which would be totally expected and fair) but I was told that they are too ethical to do business like that.
