We began working with Katherine for a USDA loan and she basically told us we were okay as far as requirements/income etc. However, our realtor (Joy from Sothebys) insisted we go to another lender because she "didn't have a good feeling about Katherine" So we went to another lender and did everything we needed only to waste our time and NOT get approved and delayed 2 more weeks. So we went back to Katherine who already got our "conditional" approval. Both our realtor and the sellers (Eric Yama-Kauai Realty) were VERY pushy with Katherine and putting a LOT of pressure on her and DEMANDING things. Which she DID get done and on time. Yet when it came to getting paperwork needed from others it wasn't as "pressured" as they did to Katherine. It was obvious that nobody believed Katherine could get us a loan. We had a lot of debt we acquired since our pre-kid days but we did whatever we needed to do in order to GET approved. In the end Katherine DID get us approved for the loan yet even when she told them we were approved they (realtors) were still pressing at her. I absolutely LOVE Katherine and would HIGHLY recommend her especially if you are purchasing your first home. She was honest and upfront with us the entire time. She worked HARD for us and did what needed to be done to get the loan. We live in Līhu'e and have 3 kids (age 5 and under) and there were times I had to go back and forth to Kapa'a twice even three times a day to sign new paperwork but it was all worth it! MAHALO NUI LOA Katherine for giving us the chance to actually OWN a home on our homeland :) I am hawaiian blood and thought that the only way I could ever buy a home here was through Hawaiian Home Lands (which has a LONG waiting list and process) but Katherine helped us get the house that WE wanted.
