This is the place I go to when i need specific art, sculpting or GK supplies that the big stores don't carry. They have a wide range and variety of items that if not for this place, I'd have to order online (Examples- tamiya epoxy putty, sand paper, and paints, stamp carving rubber, etc.) They also have a large variety of toys and collectables, and the other reason I I go here are the Magic cards. You also get a free tootsie pop with purchase =D read more

This place is huge. You can find all the collectibles you would like. Happy to find such a toy store in a historical building.

Well, well, well. The Time Machine. We are incredibly lucky to have the greatest toy store on the planet close to us. The place is huge and has an amazing array of model trains. In fact, they run their sets on Sunday from 1pm to 4pm. It's not a small set and it's extremely impressive. I like it because they have toys for little kids and adults that act like kids. I can't wait to get some RC aircraft. Perhaps my wife will read this and get me one for the holidays. A geeky adult can only dream. read more

I forgot this place existed for the longest time. How? I don't know because it's amazing. If you have kids, bring them here. There are a million things to look at and seriously, if you tell your kid they can pick one thing out, you'll keep them occupied for hours because there are so many cool things. Puzzles, board games, craft kits, stuffed animals, animal figurines, books, science kits, trains, dollhouse stuff, toys... I'm a grown-up and I love this place. read more

Amazing spot.A throwback to the great stores of America past. The store utilizes an old Bon-Ami factory in the north end. The first floor has an amazing selection of throwback toys, art supplies, retro candies, tin toys and an assortment of learning toys and educational games and workbooks perfect for car trips with the kids The rest of floor one consists of a activity room for the kids to play in,a huge assortment of toys, games, puzzles, science kits, models, books and die cast cars The second floor has a great selection of classic train sets, doll houses and rc cars, planes and drones It also has an amazing train set maintained by a local group that utilizes half the floor and runs twice a month and is open to the public, unlike anything you have seen or will likely see anywhere else The staff obviously loves the place as much as the customers and make the shopping experience a truly relaxing, enjoyable experience They have a truly amazing amount and variety of products, coupled with the activities, events and involvement in any and all community events make this a truly amazing place that continues to thrive in this era of big business and horribly run and operated stores of the Walmart ilk Stop there once and you will become one of the many lifelong customers that make this a one of a kind place that make it the type of place any community should be proud to have read more

Love this hobby store! It's huge and it has an awesome huge dollhouse section with some great stuff and it's affordable!

This is a good place in which to get lost. The selection of toys can either be the fulfillment of your inner child's dreams or be a bit overwhelming. My partner had one experience, and I had the other. We got a kite and a ship in a bottle, shared memories of building toy race cars, and spent plenty of time looking at the model train set. This is definitely worth a stop if you live in or are driving by the area, perhaps especially around Christmas time. read more

Staff is awesome. I had some issue with my Traxxas RC car. I came to this store for help to fix my car and they helped me. They responded quickly and fixed the issue for free of cost. I'm very much impressed with their work. read more

What a hidden jem!! Had to find a rocket today for my sons school project, and found this shop online. We expected a small place, and from the moment we went in we were in awe. The building itself is a historic treasure, the old Bon Ami building, with the original wood staircase, beautiful! Inside the store, the selection was awesome. A little bit of everything, and a model section you could get lost in for hours. So nice to be able to patronize a local business instead if a boring, big box, chain toy store. Truly a jem, and we will be back to explore the trains next time. read more

Helpful and knowledgable staff. They built a custom made battery for my sons you dinosaur that we couldn't find anywhere. Works great with no issues. Reasonably priced. Store is big and has lots of toys! Great parking space. If you're looking for something in particular, you will probably find it here or be guided into the right direction. read more

Very cool store with lots of new and retro games and toys. Not accessible if you have any kind of mobility issues.

O-M-Gee. This place rocks HARD! The actual gaming store is across the street and I have to say overall the place gives me the best nerdgasm ever! You like trains, they got trains. You like to paint miniatures, they got those too. You want the geekiest board and card games, yep. And the staff knows what they are talking about! It's awesome. Go there if you want more than your standard Monopoly board game. You won't be disappointed. read more

I love this place!!! Not only is the train set upstairs unbelievable, but there literally is no hobby shop of this caliber within hundreds of miles. HUGE selection of rare kits and very friendly, knowledgeable service. A great place to just visit and walk around even if you're not buying. Awesome! read more

Over the past several years I have been in and out of this shop numerous times. I feel welcome each and every time. The service is great, they have the items you are looking for and so much more. This is a great hobby shop, a real gem, and you would be foolish not to visit them. read more

Love this place! Great selection of toys, even better than Toys R Us due to the uniqueness of the toys. It can be a little more than the other store, it's Mom and Pop. I prefer small businesses and I get a coupon from the Hometown magazine. If you say that there is nothing to do in Manchester, you have not been here. read more

Let me start by saying that monopoly is a great board game to play but never, ever play Antonio de Nicola in monopoly

If you want a unique shopping experience, this is the place to go. There is an eclectic selection of toys and hobby items that you can easily spend hours browsing. read more

The time machine is the most unique, awesomest toy store around! There's something for everyone there. It is hard to not spend an hour or more in the store wandering around looking at all the awesome toys, hobby supplies, educational experiments, and everything in between. They have a large inventory of rc helicopters, planes, and such in the back section of the store.. I purchased my first rc helicopter there and love it. They also have a huge selection of replacement parts and are very friendly and helpfull. Everybody needs to take a couple hours to check this place out, you won't be disappointed! It is located in a large brick building and would be easy to overlook if not familiar with it just to let you know read more

One of the larger stores carrying toys, models, RC, & trains in CT. Their RC manager Steve Sladyk is extremely knowledgeable in RC. He is an extremely active member of my AMA RC field and I can tell you that on his days off chances are he is at the field flying his helis, drones, & planes with us. Very good selection of planes from micro sized up to giant sized, my guess is at any given moment they have around 50 models to choose from. Excellent inventory of LiPo batteries and other accessories such as DuBro. They also have the largest train department that I've seen in any store in the state of Connecticut. They also have a very elaborate & large train layout and even their own train club which meets in the store. Personally I am not into trains, but I know if I were then I'd probably exclusively be shopping in their store. read more

If you love trains, vintage toys and historic buildings, you are in luck because this place has it all. Love this toy store because the staff is always friendly and offering to help you find things, the building is super cool and a interesting piece of Manchester history (love that they post that information to read on the stairway so you can get a history lesson while there) and they have such a huge variety of gifts, toys, plush animals, trains, car models, books, educational materials, etc. I always find something for a gift for my friends' kids. Great place to stop just to look around but be prepared you may not walk out empty handed. I went recently to bring my sister just to check it out and $54 and a full bag later I left. Support a local business! read more

Staff is very knowledgeable. Store is great with a wide selection. Unfortunately I was treated quite rudely by a staff member there, a manager none the less. I actually felt threatened. Not what I expected at all from a store of this caliber. I've spent hundreds and hundreds of dollars here and now wish that I had spent my money elsewhere. read more

Let down. Expected friendly service. Got ignored. Just stared out. No one asked if any questions or anything. Plus building smelled bad. Just a let down. read more

My husband, son and I have been to the Time Machine twice. It is a wonderful store, but the train running section is totally unorganized and in this case extrememly dissapointing. According to the Time Machine website, Sunday, February 26 was "Run your own train day". My husband called on Thursday to "sign my son up" (according to someone working there), and again on Saturday to make sure everything was still OK. He was told that the trains were being run as we speak, and everything will be ready for Sunday, and "get your son ready to have a ball". Meanwhile, our 12 year old son worked a full day and a half on his trains getting ready "for the best day in his life." He has seen the layout once before, and was so excited to run his trains on that track. After a TWO HOUR drive, we showed up 20 minutes early figuring even though our son was on a "list" we didn't want him to miss his chance. After waiting a half hour, we checked with the person behind the counter, and she had absolutely no idea what we were talking about. We explained to her about the two calls we made there, the so called "LIST" our son was on, and how they advertised that today was run your own trains day. She then checked the website and was amazed that we were in fact right. We were then told that no one would be there to run any trains, and she had no idea that this was even remotely planned. We were so shocked, let alone appauled that this was even happening, especially after TWO phone calls. Our son was completely devastated, and I can't even begin to understand how this happened. It will not happen to us again, being let down like this, after two calls, a fake sign up sheet that you could only get on by phone, and advertising something that was never going to happen in the first place is totally unprofessional, let alone very bad for business, especially since word of mouth goes a long way. read more

Store is huge!!! I actually didn't purchase anything though bc it was way overpriced and I knew I could find the same thing on amazon for cheaper. I didn't go upstairs but there is like a whole area for model trains and stuff. Pretty cool store. read more

LOVE this place. When I used to live nearby, we took all visitors for a visit. We mostly bought obscure board games here but would also just come to browse through the toys, check out the trains running on Sundays, or obsess over dollhouse furniture. Wear a coat if you go in winter - back in the recesses of the building, it gets pretty frigid. read more

Absolute nightmare of a place, poor customer service and high price equate to a place I will not visit again. Train department is a joke not a person in the place has a clue. In addition web site is poorly designed and full of broken links. Overall this is a very second rate operation. Take you business to Lee's Hobby or Amato's if you desire real service and satisfaction. read more

I went here to find a small gear to fit a small electric motor that steers my fishing trolling motor. I know, it has nothing to do with trains, or RC planes, or helicopters, but I thought this place might just be able to help. The gear I needed was only 3/8" wide, 3/8" long, and had 13 teeth. I went to the back of the first floor where the model planes are and met with a very helpful guy there. I showed him the gear I needed and the motor it needed to fit on. He searched around for a while and eventually found a brass gear that was a very close match, certainly close enough. I was very happy with that, since I absolutely could not get a small part like that from the trolling motor manufacturer. I needed some shim stock for the gear because the hole in the center of it was bigger than the diameter of the shaft it had to go on. I expected that I would have to do some creative searching for that when I got home, but before I left the store I decided to go upstairs to the train section and see what was up there, since I hadn't been to the store in quite a while. Just before I left the train area I found a collection of thin brass tubing for building props. One of them was exactly the right diameter and thickness! I took it to the checkout counter and told the very nice lady there how happy I was to find what I needed. She looked at the 36" length of tubing I had picked up and asked if I had seen any shorter pieces, since I only needed a 1/2" length of it. I hadn't. She left and returned with a 12" length, just what I wanted. I could not have been happier with the help I got from both employees. They were great! Keep up the good work! read more

In a class of its own this hobby store has it all ! If you live near by you need to check this place out and on sunday the run model trains I take my kids there all the time amazing !! The selection of toys and gaming is simply out of this world and my kids know they're leaving with something from hear rather than some other coolie cutter store. Not to mention to service there is amazing there are other small buisnesses around out there that could use a lesson from this store. read more

Love this place since i was kid. name changed but still just as good. the huge train display in back is fantastic.

what a treat! this place was off the beaten path for sure - we were going to stick with something closer to I91 but we were incredibly lucky to find this. like a treasure trove of every kind of hobby, game, DIY toy you can imagine. plus an upper floor devoted to doll houses and trains. including actual train sets, quite elaborate and interconnected, that apparently get turned on sometimes (call ahead, no action when we were there at noon on a sunday). all of this was captured in a quirky, old and completely unassuming building. you'd never guess it had all this. then, across the street, an entire building devoted to gaming (magic cards, dungeons and dragons and every kind of board game imaginable). plus they sponsor live game nights just about every day of the week and have a dungeons and dragons room we could walk through. these guys are NOT messing around. my boys and i were enchanted. read more
