We came from a different daycare that my 3 year old was REALLY struggling at. She never came home with a good report. We decided to move her and our 18 month old to a different daycare, and I took a lot of time to find a daycare that felt ready to take on the unique challenges that my kids had. My kids have flourished. Every morning, the 3 year old is excited to go to school. They are always having a good time when I arrive. They are loved, well cared for, and have made amazing strides academically in the short time they have been there (a little over a month). I don't think we could have found a better daycare for them. From the moment we visited CORE, we knew it was different. The atmosphere felt more like a community or a family than a traditional school. At CORE, students are truly seen as individuals. My daughter was able to learn at her own pace, in a way that honored her autonomy and curiosity. The teachers and staff have created an environment where kids feel safe, supported, and empowered to take ownership of their learning. There are plenty of breaks, lots of time outdoors, and built-in resources for students to access when they're struggling. My child has not only caught up--she has thrived. She's more confident, more engaged, and more like her full self again: creative, curious, and excited to learn. CORE isn't just a school--it's a place where kids are accepted for who they are and encouraged to become who they're meant to be. They don't push kids to read, but rather, books are found throughout the classrooms facing out; the kids can't resist walking by without picking one up! In addition, there are book fairs, art, and puppet shows centered around books. Parents are welcome to come in any day/s they wish to read to the class. The teachers put in 150% of themselves to make learning fun! They incorporate physical activity and music in their lesson plans (such as doing "spider poses" in yoga after exploring the playground for insects (to look at under the microscope)! 2) Nurturing & Respectful of students You walk in and you can feel the school's warmth, immediately! The teachers listen to and give eye contact to the kids. They bend down to talk to them, rather than at them. Children thrive so much in this type of environment. 3) They are respectful of parents. You can sense this. You will never feel the need to apologize for expressing concerns- the teachers and director seek these out and value your feelings. They are respectful and understanding of different parenting styles! 3) Community. You can become as integrated as you like within the school's community. I wouldn't hesitate to invite the teachers to a family dinner- they really love our kids! The parents are warm, welcoming, and down-to-earth. It's easy to make friends with good people. No one is competitive with each other. There is strong parental and staff support for anything you need. Not having any family here, this is so important to me! 4) My daughter loves it! She usually wants to stay longer and she gets excited to go the night before-this is priceless! She runs down the hallway every morning to greet her teachers with a hug and a kiss! Their team was very professional from the signup and explanation of the program (Lauren) to the administration of the schedule (Denise) to the instruction (Christopher). Reposting from my Google review:…read more A den of thieves. We started at VMS in Jan 2020, and in March 2020 we had to pull out our child because of COVID lockdowns. VMS asked us to continue paying, which we did, because we understood that it was a hard time for everyone. We did not attend during Fall 2020 and started back in January 2021. Everything was fine. Summer of 2021 we were told students would not be required to wear masks (a requirement for us to send our child, which they knew). About two weeks after school started they reversed this decision, so we got a medical exemption for our child, as did several other parents. About a week after receiving medical exemption, they decided to reverse this as well and revoked all medical exemptions, and yet still expect us to continue paying. We even appealed to the school but were met with ridicule and condescension. We have been literally laughed at and disregarded. This is a school of indoctrination not education. It is a school that teaches children to obey and not to question. If you are trying to find a private school because you're worried about the incompetency of our government and do not want to be forced to obey their arbitrary unscientific mandates and restrictions which are imposed on public schools, this is not the school for you and I highly recommend looking elsewhere.
