Went in for dinner. This place is huge & wonderful. They had their roll up doors open.so that was pleasant on a early fall evening. They were playing bingo which was fun to do while we enjoyed our drinks & waited for our meal. Food was great. Lots of locals. Only thing that was annoying there was a very large dog that kept barking & coming to our table to see if we were going to feed him. We did not. I'm allergic to dogs. Than some people a few tables away had a small dog that decided it needed to come see if it could get a snack. People kept yelling the big dogs name due to nonstop barking. The waitress tried several times to get it to go home. But the dog kept coming back in. I'm not taking any stars off due to dog but would have enjoyed our time more if it hadn't been around barking & standing at our table. We were the only table with food due to it being late in evening. Everyone was playing bingo & enjoying their beverages.

They do not allow you to order food and bring it to their large deck, not even if you get it togo. Which was very disappointing as we had a group of 6 and were planning to spend the afternoon there. We moved to the main building patio to eat. Our server did not enjoy her job. When we asked for napkins after our food arrived, she loudly said "you guys are being high maintenance". Just unnecessary, and she had attitude quite a few times. Our tickets had an auto gratuity added of 20%, she tried to hide this by giving us tickets that were not itemized, until someone asked for it to be itemized and some of us had already added an additional tip. I guess when you know you're getting a tip you don't need to be friendly or attentive.

So look, you have to consider this place in context. If you've never been to a winery or one in a…read moretraditional region (Napa, WA, OR, Europe) then you'll love it. However you're in the middle of Missouri where grapes don't generate like traditional regions, and palettes are different. So if you're familiar with wineries and good wine this will be quaint but not your place. This is more of an event space with wine as an afterthought as evidenced by the gaggle of sororities and moms funneling in all day. Frankly, I was appalled at the event I attended for my daughters sorority. Everyone bought a $25 bottle of sweet or semi-sweet wine (that's this wineries specialty), dropped in a straw, and suckled their sippy cups. Their sweet wines are like wine coolers - and what college student doesn't like those? That should give context to the quality of wine and positioning of this space). Their traditional varietals all have sweet or fruit forward notes - Cabs are more like Pinots but lacking the depth and notes of a true spicy, bold cab. Past this, parking is like a festival, down a dirt road about a quarter mile walk from the front door. While I wouldn't return, it's a great place for an event and provides something unique to the area. And obviously the Greek system utilizes as a more sophisticated approach to the bars in Columbia.

The wine here is good but not amazing in my opinion. Service is always great. Ambiance is…read morebeautiful, they have a nice lake area and lots of outdoor seating. We got a wine flight with a variety of dry red, dry white, semi sweet wine. My favorite is dry red, but it seems like this place specializes in mainly semi sweet or sweet wine. I did enjoy the inspiration dry red.
