My mom and I had a lovely and relaxing time horseback riding through the autumn colored leaves at…read moreEquestrian Ridge. Let's start from the beginning... My mom grew up riding and training horses and while it's been years, I thought it would be a great 60th birthday gift to go riding in Hocking Hills. After a few searches online, I found this place. The booking was easy and the owner, Jackie, was very attentive and communicative throughout the process. The weather was absolutely perfect on the day we arrived and we were part of a small group including two others, making it 4 total, which was honestly ideal. We were greeted with a warm welcome and Jackie got straight to introducing us to our paired horses. She was great at putting us each with a horse that would go well with our riding experience. I got Duke, who was a sweetheart from start to finish. He did a fabulous job and I had no problems at all. He was just as Jackie explained he would be. After getting our mini riding lesson, away we went. We rode through beautiful meadows and even through the forest with high trees, downed logs, and a ton of brush. Every single one of the horses did great. They loved to stop to eat and Jackie knew all the good spots for "cheesecake." That's what they called the horse's favorite snack. Funny, because that's my favorite too! We rode around for just over an hour after getting our lessons and it was wonderful. Everyone had a blast and I would totally go again, only for a longer ride next time. I highly recommend it!

Was a bridesmaid in a wedding there. The staff was extremely unhelpful. The wedding was supposed to…read morebe outside and there was a torrential downpour so we had to move the ceremony inside - which is fine, weather happens. In order to change plans we had to rearrange the inside barn area, also fine except that the four men who worked for the barn refused to do anything. Guests had to move tables and the mother of the bride had to ask the them for extra chairs, which we paid for, and had to bed them to be brought it. It also flooded inside because of the new construction outside- also things happen... except that we couldn't get any staff to help and by the time they got there the linens on head table were soaking up muddy water and there was 4 inches of water right in front of the catering table. There also weren't even enough spaces at the head table for the entire bridal party (which they knew ahead of time)... there was a huge lack of activity from staff. Also this is not the place to book if you have family that has trouble with stairs because the only bathroom is in the bridal lounge upstairs. Guests had to go outside and climb a full flight in order to use the one bathroom- also difficult when it's raining because it is exposed. Overall interesting place for a wedding but if there is anything you need during set-up or arrival expect to be met with an attitude. Rain and inclement weather obviously can't be helped, but a positive service experience would have made all the difference. Having the owner call guests a bitch doesn't help either.. Also there is zero cell phone service and no wifi.
