Good and bad -- mostly good. When I pulled in I wasn't expecting much, but then was very impressed with the room. Lots of space, kitchen area with microwave and a two burner stove. Pots and pans, dishes, and flatware provided. There are nice decorations on the shelves. The bed mattress was comfy enough, but the pillows were flat and somewhat hard. I had to use two on top of each other for comfort. Extra blankets are in the room. No breakfast comes with the room, but that's not a big loss. (Friends of mine staying at another hotel down the road said that the provided breakfast was terrible.) There are plenty of pine trees around the property, and the parking lot is brown gravel, so the whole effect was nice and made me feel like I was camping. read more

The good: room was updated and clean. Great location within walking distance to 3 coffee shops. Close to many lakes for fishing. For the price, it is a good value. The bad: it seems that the front of the hotel is for guests but the area in the back is for long term rentals. There were a couple junked cars. We were only given 2 bath towels and limited toilet paper for 4 days. There isn't any housekeeping. The bed squeaked with minimal movement. read more

The room is nicely upgraded-- and clean. The pictures and information shown lead us to believe we'd have a proper kitchenette. So we brought simple foods to prepare. In reality we only had a small coffee pot, microwave and toaster-- and small fridge. No table and a low couch. We were very disappointed. The other issue is there is no on site manager. You contact the front desk by phone. At night we passed the hotel a couple times as the sign is not lit up at all. No lights in the driveway. It was ok but we would never stay here again. read more

PROS: Booked this hotel for visiting family in the area--our room was updated & clean. Centrally located in town on the main road. Our room was set back from the highway so we were not disturbed by traffic. CONS: we booked based on the photos showing equipped kitchenettes with dishes and 2 burner stove--so we came prepared to have the ability to make simple meals--we did not have that--no burner--a small side table with a small Mr coffee and a toaster--small refrigerator 2 bowls--2 plates and forks no real table--a low couch and no additional chair for seating I also have issue with no real person on the premises to talk to.. an open office--nobody there--very cluttered like people moving out or in--just a phone number to call. Did not like that. There also are no lights on their sign--very difficult to see when driving at night. --we passed up the driveway more than once. Although we had an average experience--I would not stay here again--I think the business owners can do much better than this. read more

Stayed one night with my two pups, after a four hour drive (and working all day.) While the office was closed when I arrived at 6, there was a number on the door that I was quickly able to call and a very nice woman quickly let me know which room I was in and I was able to get right in. the room was very large, clean and upgraded with all the amenities I needed. I loved being able to back right up to the door and unload. Do NOT let the old school front of the motel look fool you as the interior courtyard has a mountain kind of charm and the room I had was comfortable, clean and I felt very safe (104). read more

Rooms are cute enough but maintenance is sloppy. Dirty utensils in sink from previous occupants, missing light bulbs and broken blinds. Room was clean. We've stayed twice and will never go back because of the manager and her dogs. First time her dog was running free at night and charged our leashed Corgi. Second time, same dog again charged Corgi after she chained her dog up outside our door. Then her dog pooped on the walkway outside our door while we were loading our car. Talking to this woman the first time was pointless- she could not understand how this is bad business or how she is potentially endangering dogs. We will never return. read more

We had high hopes for this place. They were very accommodating when we had to switch weekends due to a medical emergency. The manager was very nice and responsive to issues when they were around. We arrived Friday evening around 8 pm. Once in the room which was clean but worn we realized the following things were missing: - no pillows ( just the shams) - only 2 towels (for a room of 4) /- no cups ( but lots of coffee for the coffee maker) All were replaced by the manager. Unfortunately we didn't notice the missing hair dryer until the next morning and could never find the manager in after that first night. The housekeeper also never serviced the room during our stay. As I mentioned the rooms were clean but worn. The sheets and towels were thin and the bed very hard. I really wanted to like this place but it needs some good TLC. read more

First I want to say, the cleaning staff is awesome! We arrived a bit early they were still cleaning. They were so nice it letting us know how long. One of them had a little girl with her that should be the official greeter! The place is well taken care of and very clean. We booked a room with a 2 burner stove, fridge, and microwave. There was just enough glasses, pot/pans, and dishware for 2 people. The beds were just ok, pillows need to be replaced as does the shower head. Overall this was a quiet clean place to stay. The Timberlodge is located in Pinetop, just 12 miles east of Show Low and 20 miles from Sunrise Ski Resort. If you're looking for a place close to Sunrise that is inexpensive but clean, this is your place. We paid $70 for a room when the nearby Best Western wanted $109, and there is no minimum-night stay (the cabin our friends usually stayed at wanted a 4-night minimum). And I should note that this is premium holiday weekend pricing, since we were there over New Year's. Let's face it - it's not fancy. The decor is a bit 1980's, the TV's not a flatscreen, and the bathroom has linoleum instead of tile. But it feels clean and well-cared for, and the rooms are actually quite spacious, with a vanity area/kitchenette that is separate from the bathroom. All the basic rooms have a coffeemaker and fridge, and some have microwaves, too. They also have kitchenette rooms and suite rooms available. We had plenty enough space in our standard room for three families to hang out, with six of us sitting around a table and plenty of space. The rooms with double beds are a bit tighter on space, obviously, but, well, they have two beds in them what do you expect. And honestly, most people who will want to stay there aren't going to be hanging out in the room, they'll be up at Sunrise enjoying the slopes. The Lodge has a charming cabin-type feel on the outside and is just a minute or two drive from Krissi's Ski and Board rental. There is a large parking lot in the back that can accommodate big trucks, although it's a bit of a tight squeeze making the turn from the front of the building to the entrance for the back parking lot. Still do-able though. The proprietors, Tad and Dorothy, are nice people who have only one rule: no snowball fights (I guess one year someone threw some ice and broke out a car window). We spent two nights at the Timber Lodge. We spent the first night in the "honeymoon suite". We took advantage of the gas fireplace and the jacuzzi tub. The king sized bed was comfortable and extra blankets were provided so we could stay warm on such a chilly night. Since the ski conditions were exceptional at Sunrise we opted to stay for another night. Unfortunately, our room was already booked for that night but we were able to move to another comfortable room two doors down. This one had a small kitchen which we used to prepare a simple dinner. The manager of the lodge was very humorous, courteous, and professional. She went above and beyond to make us feel comfortable. We strongly recommend Timber Lodge. read more

The rooms are stuck in the late 1980s - early 1990s, but the rooms are very well-cared for and clean. I rented the king-size room without a kitchenette and it was huge. We had a coffee maker and a mini-fridge, which was nice for keeping water bottles. The sheets were clean, the towels were nice and fluffy. No real complaints from me. Timberlodge provided way more than I was expecting for $59.99 + tax /night. The property is very pretty. Lots of tall pine trees and a little area in the courtyard with tables and a BBQ grill. Very nice for sitting outside when it is not raining. Like Krista G., I did not spend much time at the lodge. Since it was summer, I went hiking on local trails and in nearby parks. The weather in Pinetop is wonderful during the summer (daytime highs of 76, cool nights at 54). I wish I had stopped by the front office before heading out on my hikes. The owner, Dorothy, has a binder full of trail maps, park information, and tips. She also gives great driving directions for those not familiar with the area. If I go back to Pinetop, Timberlodge will be the place where I stay. read more

Booked this hotel for one night thru booking.com. Reviews were good to ok...everyone has their own opinion so the rooms looked nice, and price was right for one night. We arrived in the afternoon, during a bad winter storm which we expected and were there to ski, so no big deal. But....here is the kicker...this "Inn" has an elevated parking lot, with a relatively steep but short driveway. Knowing the weather and what we were there for, we had a 4X4, but had we arrived in even a larger AWD, doubt we would have made it into the parking lot as it was un-plowed and had about 12"-14" of snow in it and not a track in sight...clue #1. Regardless, pulled into the lot and made my way thru the snow to the lobby, only to find a closed sign on the door. Closed, really..it was 3PM?????? Clue #2. Well, the front doors are glass, and I could see down the hallway into the manager's suite (which was a mess clue#3) and saw a brunette woman, who looked right at me as I motioned to the door. She promptly turned away and left. I then saw a sign that gave a phone number to call after hours. After hours, it was 3PM!!! regardless I called the number and got no answer, called again, no answer. Promptly went back to my truck and tried to cancel booking. No can do, according to Booking.com. Well that's not really fair now, is it? Can't get into my room, front desk person could not care less I was trying to get my room, no answer at the number given....and why in the hell are they closed at 3PM? Anyway, we left and got another room, tried again to get a refund thru booking.com but was informed I had to report issue the day of.....so frustrating! I later found out (from locals and other SM sources) that most if not all of the people at this "Inn" are permanent residents....clue #4. Which reminds me of the straight up tweeker peeking out the blinds from the room to the left of the office/lobby and vanishing....clue #5. Bottom line is don't stay here, and don't book thru booking.com if you want any kind of customer service. read more

Disappointed.. I started building a house in Pinetop last month and my parents came into town to visit. I set them up in the Timber Lodge because of its convenient location and good reviews but I soon found out this place is a dump. I've never written a bad review and this place is so bad that I am having to warn anyone else thinking of staying here. The rooms are dirty and poorly " updated" The room had dirt all along the walls, carpet was filthy and the towels were old and worn. The beds were so disgusting and hard like a rock from their cheap mattress . My parents didn't even sleep under the top cover! A/C wasn't working and the young lady tried to fit a couple times but was unsuccessful. This room was so hot and my parents were covered in sweat. We attempted to speak with the owner who was unavailable and still hasn't called or reached out. I feel like the owner or owners of this place are taking advantage of the location and not really giving a quality room or experience for their guests. Really disappointed and not worth the money spent. There should be zero stars on this app. read more

Small business owner here - booked to stay here to work a wedding on 6/5 ... unfortunately, when I booked early this year I had no idea that we would be in a pandemic. The wedding is cancelled and I will not be paid to work. Pinetop is a 4 hour drive for me and the general manager was kind enough to understand the situation. I know that they absolutely did not have to honor a cancel for this booking as it was deemed "non-refundable" when I booked. Thank you for your kindness. Pros: The location of this inn is very convenient. We were able to walk to restaurants and the gas station within minutes. Most importantly, We loved that we were able to bring our two dogs for an additional $30 dollar fee. Cons: We just wish that our room was supplied with another fan, because it was really warm for our dogs during the day. The toilet had to be held for about thirty seconds to flush and used A LOT of water with each flush. Our tv only had one channel. Overall, we had an enjoyable time; the price was well worth it. We look forward to having a renovated room (fingers crossed the prices remain reasonable). read more

What a fantastic little surprise! Nestled above the busy main drag in Pinetop, we found this cozy, rustic, mountain lodge! Fantastic atmosphere, great amenities (jetted bathtub, brightly tiled bathroom, down comforter, free wi-fi, super-comfy mattress!), courtyard surrounded by big timber. The rooms are easily accessible and very quiet. We hear the owners are working on a makeover inside and out, we could see the effort and it's definitely paying off. This place is a gem! Let me start with the beds. Oh dear! If you EVER have ANY trouble sleeping, go to Timber Lodge, the bed will put you right to sleep! WOW! Like sleeping on a cloud. So damn comfy, I couldn't drag myself away and had to stay 2 nights! I was sad today, leaving that bed :( The little pine forest in the middle of the courtyard was perfect. We love when we can see and smell pines! It was wonderful to sit and relax in such a quiet little spot! Despite the fact that Timber Lodge is on the 260, it was surprisingly quiet. The room and property were clean and very well maintained! The "hotel coffee" was delicious! We NEVER drink "hotel provided coffee!" The guy at the front desk was kind and straightforward about pricing and the rooms, he even came and fixed the cable right away; I gotta' watch my murder shows when I'm around cable TV! ;P We will be back! Shoes stayed 3 nights, and will gladly stay again. Sure the place is dated and there was no Wi-Fi, but my rate was great, the owners awesome. It was clean and well maintained. The place was built in the 60's so you have to expect some issues. The towels were new but the rooms could use renovating. In due time. It's a lot of work. I like to see well maintained landscaping and that could improve business. The little lobby is not conducive to just hanging out either. but I really liked the place. It was quiet. Booked the Deluxe King Suite thru Booking.com and the room was described with photos as the Deluxe King Suite on Booking.com's website. After booking the room I called the hotel to ask if I would have to pay the automatic $15 booking.com charges as a pet deposit since we were not bringing a pet. I spoke to a very nice man, James who is the manager who informed me that I did not need to pay that and was not sure why the booking.com website charges that fee automatically I also found out from James that the room was not going to be the Deluxe King Suite but a king with a queen and a regular room. He informed that room is double the cost and that Booking.com does that all the time where people think they are getting an upgrased room but in actuality they aren't. So if you plan on booking a room first call the hotel because at least you will know what room you actually getting without any surprises. But the room was quite large for two people. Ample parking and the way the place is situated it is very quite with no road noise. The bathroom was big with separate area for toilet and shower and the room must have recently been renovated; new tile and granite bathroom counter top. The room is sparse of paintings but has the essentials. There aren't an abundance of hangers and towels but the towels were new. The beds were soft and we both tended to roll to the middle but we did sleep well. It is in a great location near the popular restaurants and shops and not far from the casino. The WiFi worked well. We would definitely consider returning again. read more

Cute little lodge with a cabin-like feel. The room was clean and cozy. Comfortable beds with enough pillows and the best blankets. Loved our little kitchenette. It had everything we needed. Clean microwave and a fridge that kept stuff nice and cold. Coffee maker and plenty of silverware and cookware. The staff is great also. Friendly and kind. We arrived a bit early but they still let us check in before 3:00 which was much appreciated. It's located in the middle of lots of stores and restaurants and Lake of the Woods is just down the road a bit. The property is nestled in pine trees and is beautiful. We didn't like the first room because the front front didn't lock and no A/C. Moved to room 105 with A/C and it was better. Unfortunately the A/C didn't work. Bath towels were paper thin and cheap, and the sheets were 100% polyester. The bed was extra firm and uncomfortable, almost like sleeping on a sheet of plywood. There is a newer section that looks much better. If you can get in the new upgraded section, it's worth it. Otherwise avoid this hotel. read more

The people that run the place are extremely nice. We inquired ahead about high speed internet as it was needed for work. We were told yes we have it. We could only get internet if standing in the middle of the courtyard. When we told management they acted surprised which I know they have had complaints but it was too late Place is old but very clean. Pillows are pancakes and sheets might be a 10 thread count. Remote control did not work. If you need a place to sleep only this is your place. read more

This place is beautiful and clean but.....Negative stars for the woman who handles the bookings. We stayed there 2 weeks ago with 3 other people and it took her forever to check us in she had a handful of papers and just started grabbing keys, then she gave us a room that was already occupied! Luckily her husband caught it and told us someone was already in there and they upgraded us to a beautiful suite instead. We decided to book again this Labor Day thru booking.com(same as before) she called us to tell us Booking.com made a mistake and she was full and when booking.com contacted her she lied and said we called to cancel the room then tried to rebook it then found that the room hadn't been cancelled but we couldn't stay in it! There are no rooms available and now we have to cancel our trip! Stay far away from this place unless you have a backup place to stay! This woman doesn't know what the heck she's doing and she should retire before she sends this place into bankruptcy it's a shame it's such a nice place! read more

This is a real bargain place to stay in the area. We were there off season, and paid $10 extra for having a small dog, so the total rate was $69 plus tax. The sheets are thin enough to almost see through, the towels are small, the decor is--well its a stretch to call it decor--but it is spotless and the room was spacious, and surrounded by tall pine trees and buildings space apart across a large area only broken by the tall pines. There's a kids playground and, as I mentioned, rooms where dogs are allowed. There was a fridge in the room and a coffeemaker but no microwave. We did not hear people through the walls in the rooms beside us although they may have heard our dog barking briefly to tell us someone had walked by outside. The nice proprietor pointed us to a Woodland Lake park across the street on a road that goes past the Chevron station, and it was a delight. A lake with a one-mile walk around the perimeter, picnic tables, etc. No breakfast is served at Timberlodge, but you're walking distance--and very short driving distance to dozens of restaurants. P.S. We like hard beds, as long as they don't sag in the middle, and these did not. read more

My husband and I stayed in the honeymoon suite and oh my!!! This place was way above our expectations. Probably the cleanest room we have ever stayed in. The room was stunning from the two person multi jet hot tub to the most comfortable bed I've ever slept in. They out did them selves. The detail in the room throughout Was impeccable. Checked into timberlodge for 3 days . It was inexpensive but priced right . We got a king size bed room and it was actually pretty large. It had a small fridge and a table and chairs . Perfect for my husband ,and our infant and toddler. We had free WiFi and requested a microwave. The room was clean but hot ,the rooms do not have ac which we over looked . However we brought out own ac window until and it worked just fine .we were never too hot even in humid Temps during June .the property is really small,but it is surrounded by huge pine trees ,there is a small picnic area centered on the property with a charcoal grill we used to make breakfast and dinner. We also brought our family dog which was an extra fee,that was expected .we were very annoyed the quest two doors down complained he was howling when we went out to dinner ,so we had to cut that short,it was only 4pm and people should understand its pet friendly.that was no fault of the lodges though. The owners are very nice and housekeeping kept our room tidy. It's true it isn't anything fancy but we weren't staying there for the room ,we stood there because it was inexpensive and right in the middle of pinetop ,close to lakeside park and little shops for anything we needed. The place is up for sale ,I would hate to see the owners leave but would definitely stay there again ,it was exactly what we expected and had no major problems. read more

This is definitely our new favorite spot. Everything about this place was great but we were especially grateful for Trinity and his exceptional service. He was so attentive and made us feel like we were at home. The room we stayed in was beautifully renovated. The granite countertops in the room are gorgeous and sparkling! There was a kitchenette with a 2 burner stove and mini fridge. It came equipped with everything we needed down to silverware and pots and pans! The shower was big and also beautifully renovated. One of my favorite parts was walking in to see the wood flooring and NO GROSS CARPETS! There's even a deck right outside with chairs and a table to enjoy coffee in the morning. Our room had two comfy queen beds, one firm and one soft, and it was so clean. This place is tucked away and feels like your own private slice of forest, we loved it. Again, we can't say enough about Trinity who accommodated us and our baby girl, he made our stay so relaxed and enjoyable, we are so thankful! read more

Made a reservation, got to timber lodge, was going to check in found out cabins have no a/c. It was in the 90's so it was warm outside. So my husband said no thanks . As we were leaving I asked front desk lady if we should cancel reservation she said she we had no reservation. So we walked out and went down the road to a different motel which was cheaper and had a/c!! Got home and looked at bank balance seen they still charged us for a night stay. I recommend don't stay here! I called and she said we didn't cancel (even though we tried!! ) So save your money and get a/c in your room somewhere else read more

I stayed here one night, and the accommodations weren't anything special, but the customer service was exceptional. I was arriving late and they were very helpful in ensuring that I would get the key from the lock box, sending me an email and a text. The room was clean and fairly warm when I arrived, but it's definitely an older motel. The shower head was at about 5 feet high, so I had to crouch down a bit to wash my hair, but otherwise everything was satisfactory! Would stay here again. read more

Dorothy was very helpful and friendly even offering me rags if I wanted to wipe down my motorcycle. There was wifi but very slow in the room. Very inexpensive if you are just looking for place to sleep. Pillows are flat. Had a hard time finding a three prong outlet for my computer. Only one was in the bathroom above the sink. Stayed up here a few weeks ago for snowboarding. The facilities seemed nice and clean and for as cheap as it was $60 bucks a night, it's not the fanciest hotel but it is comfortable. What makes this place 5 stars to me is the owner a wonderful Polish lady. We had leftovers, and while the rooms aren't equipped with a microwave, the lady at the front desk took them and heated them up in her house for us (she lives apparently in the main building I would assume). She was very helpful and very nice. Definitely would stay here again next time were in Pinetop. read more
