    Dad with his first beer!

I wasn't too sure what to expect when I booked this cabin online. I did a Google search for cabins in Show Low/Pinetop and this place came up. I was fairly impressed with the pictures, as well as price, online...so I decided why not?! I booked the cabin for one night on a Thursday. They offered an online discount if you mentioned that you found them online (10%). My cabin (which sleeps 4) came to around 88 dollars. Not too shaby in my book! Upon arrival I was a little afraid of what would lie ahead. The reception/check in area was ragged and old, and couch cushions were thrown around the guest area...hmmmmmmmmmm and crappppppp I thought. The owner (I presume) was friendly and accommodating. I was able to check in early which was an added bonus. We drove to our little cabin. How quaint. The cabin had a swing rocker outside and a bench as well. There were windows all around the cabin. Upon entering, you are greeted with one futon couch (sleep 2), a flat screen tv with cable, a small table, decent sized fridge/freezer, cabinets with utensils/plates/pans, sink, and 2 burner stove. There was a small heat stove in the living area and 2 ac units (though I don't know why you would need it) in the cabin. The bathroom was fairly decent in size with a basic sink, tub, and toilet. The water was ICE COLD and took a tad to get hot. Nothing fancy here. NOTE: Please bring extra soap and shampoo items. The ones that were provided were a little skimpy and super basic...no extras here. There are several BBQ grills located around the property which proved beneficial when we made dinner. The other cabins and hotel rooms were spread out throughout the property. Other neighboring visitors were quiet and no issues arose there. The bed in the extra room was a queen and had comfortable bedding. It was a little hard but proved to be a nice nights sleep after a long drive there. In all, cozy little place that I will definitely return to in the future. I do wish that they provided more in terms of amenities and that extra mile, but that won't stray me from considering them.

Really cute lodge! The place was really clean, it was nice and quiet. We chose this place when we were planning our road trip with Yelp, they had good reviews. Affordable prices and also they are Pet friendly!

Pictures don't give this place any justice. Thought our cabin was beautiful. Good location. What should be expected when getting a cabin, and then sum. Really happy with this place!

Before our arrival, I called on Tuesday and spoke with Erika, who was incredibly kind and understanding. I explained that we were traveling to town for the funeral of a childhood friend. When we checked in, I explained the situation again to the front desk associate, who was also very courteous. The hotel was clean, the room was comfortable, and everything started off wonderfully. We paid for a late checkout. Although it was a holiday weekend and the hotel could only extend it until 2pm instead of the usual 3pm., that was completely understandable and not an issue. I again explained that I would be attending funeral services about 45 minutes away in Cedar Creek, where I would have little to no cell service. My husband would remain at the hotel with our two young children, a 3-year-old and our 4-month-old baby--until I returned so we could leave together. I arrived back at the hotel at approximately 2:10pm and immediately went to the front desk. I explained that I had just returned from the funeral and only needed five minutes to change out of my dress into comfortable clothes before my family and I got on the road. The front desk associate and, I believe, the manager assured me that was fine that they will let housekeeping know. When I got to the room, I discovered that at 2:05 p.m.--just five minutes after our late checkout time--a staff member had already called the room, and my husband and our two small children had been asked to leave. They were standing outside the hotel with all of our luggage, our toddler, and our infant, waiting for me. That was incredibly upsetting. The hotel staff knew exactly why we were there. They knew we had paid for a late checkout. They knew I was attending a funeral and that I was returning as quickly as I could. Yet there was absolutely no grace, compassion, or consideration shown to my family. Five minutes after checkout, despite knowing the circumstances, my husband and children were already being ushered out of the room. That level of disregard was disappointing and unnecessary. To make matters worse, when I asked if I could quickly use a restroom to change, I was told there wasn't one available in the lobby. I was then sent back to the room we had just vacated, where three housekeepers were already cleaning it. It was a standard room with two queen beds--not a large suite--and I only needed a few minutes to change clothes before leaving. I've worked in hospitality myself and hold a bachelor's degree in Hospitality Management, so I understand the importance of turning rooms over quickly, especially during a full holiday weekend. What I don't understand is the complete lack of empathy and basic courtesy shown to my family during an already difficult day. It's unfortunate that an otherwise wonderful stay was overshadowed by how we were treated at the very end. A few minutes of patience and compassion would have made all the difference. Instead, my lasting memory is of my struggling husband, with our frazzled toddler, and our sobbing four month old infant - standing disheveled against the wall outside with all of our belongings. IMMEDIATELY, after I spoke with front desk; upon returning from a funeral. The contradiction of hospitality in those moments was unnecessary, and left a very sour ending to an already terrible and emotional morning. I wasted time and energy being sent back to do exactly what was agreed upon, in a far more uncomfortable way. All I needed in that moment as a grieving and post partum mother was: a small crumb of peace and compassion. Yet, we were met with disregard. I'm absolutely furious. I'm patiently waiting on your response, looking forward to hearing back from you promptly.

This place is ran down I'm sorry but I should have looked at the reviews before I stayed here. Don't do it. Find another place. Update!! As we were checking out. I am currently filing a formal complaint with the local Health Department after catching staff on video refusing/failing to change the bed linens between guests. This is a severe health violation. When I confronted management to address this and request basic ownership/corporate details, they refused to provide any information. The resort is off of the main strip through Show Low, Lakeside and Pinetop in a wooded and scenic area. My husband left our cranky toddler and I in the car while he checked us in only to be told in an unkind manner that I had to do the check in because my name is on the Groupon. I went in and check-in took about 10-15 min. due to instructions and descriptions of amenities (which are abundant). They have mini golf, pool, spa, fitness center, playground, horseshoe and bocce ball courts, propane grills all over (tools in cabins), a little train for kiddos to sit in, and games and movies to borrow from the reception center. They also have some spices and other kitchen amenities for you to borrow while cooking. There were family related activities (scavenger hunts, crafts, etc) planned throughout the week at the reception cabin. Everything at the resort is easily walkable and you can park directly in front of your cabin. The cabin itself is nicely updated and spacious with a perfect front porch seating area. Our initial reaction when we walked in was "wow. We would live here." The living room has a fireplace, pull out couch, rocking chair, beautiful skylights and a huge TV/DVD player and a zillion channels. The dining room table seats at least 6 and the large kitchen houses the washer/dryer, disposal, dishwasher, blender, toaster, coffee maker, and dishes, pans and utensils. Our trash can was full from the people before us but was emptied within 5 min after I called the reception cabin. Both bedrooms are large and also have the big Tv's and DVD players. Bedrooms and living rooms have nice ceiling fans and comfortable beds and pillows. We slept great. Cabin 19 must have a different mattress than the reviewer with a firm bed because ours was a perfect balance of soft but supported. The bathrooms were great with a huge jetted tub in the master bath. Our stay overall was comfortable and nice. The grills were easy to use and we took part in many of the other amenities as well. Aside from our initial check in, everyone was very kind, helpful and accommodating. Neighbors were friendly as well and the temp in July was in the 70's, thus everyone was outside. In town, Darbi's was tasty for mid-morning breakfast (and 15% off PVC discount) and Eddie's Country market was great for meat to grill.
