My evaluation of certain "complaints" is that people are unrealistic and don't understand that utilizing a certified accountant is no different than using a lawyer. They have to go through extensive training and certifications, they have to know tax laws and procedures, not only for the states they are in but any other state a client needs to pay taxes in. If you want your taxes done right and by a certified accountant, than it isn't going to be cheap. It isn't meant to be a "drive-thru" . Especially when you compare it to quickie "tax services" like HR block, which even thought they label themselves "tax professionals" doesn't mean they are an accountant. Also if someone's taxes were really so simple than why didn't they go the absolute cheapest route and use turbo tax to start with.
