However, the icing was a bit too sweet and overpowered the spice, which threw off the overall balance. I also wish it had been warmed up but they don't have a microwave unfortunately. If warmed up, that soft, gooey texture would have elevated the whole experience. It wasn't bad and did hit the spot overall!

It's odd that Markham does not have one. This store takes over from Subway. It's a bit sad that this plaza has been experiencing some business turnovers of as of late, including Hakka Villa next door. However, I'm ecstatic that COBS is here. I hadn't been to one since I was in Ottawa last summer. There is always lots of parking in this SmartCentres shopping area. I parked fairly close to the store and walked in. There was a man and his son checking out the goodies. I was happy that they were ahead of me, so I could take some photos and look at the baked goods, scones, rolls, and more. Whitchurch-Stouffville is a throwback to my growing up in the Beaches. Without expecting it, the man in front of me politely said that I could go order first because they were struggling to decide. It was so kind of him. I thanked him and approached the counter. The woman who helped me was energetic and friendly. I fell in love with the custard danishes (is that the plural of danish or do I need to go more formal with danish pastries?) when I got four of them in Ottawa before heading home. I got the following custard danishes: - Raspberry - Peach Each one was placed in a paper bag. I refrained from getting any bread, although anything with melted cheddar on it looked tempting to me. I scanned my Breadcrumbs QR code to earn points. I was thrilled to finally use my COBS app. The woman let me know how much my purchases cost. I paid with a debit card. I tapped and was good. I thanked her and left. I should have bought more danishes. I had the raspberry and custard one as soon as I got in my car. The combination of custard with a touch of sweetness and fresh raspberries is perfection. The danish was so scrumptious. I devoured it before I headed home. After dinner that same day, I had the peach and custard danish. I loved the cubed, ripe peaches on top of the custard with the perfect amount of icing drizzled on top. This peach variety is seasonal and is so perfect when the weather is warmer. It screams summertime yumminess. I'm drooling as I reminisce about everything that I saw and inhaled. I want a scone and a loaf of any bread when I return. I'm so happy that York region has a location and that it's a leisurely drive for me to get my fix. (225)

Found Beverley's at the Queensway butter tart festival June 22, 2019…read more... I had already bought butter tarts from 2 other vendors, so I bought beverley's raspberry coconut tarts. OMG, they're so fantastic! Lots of filling, a little more tart with using raspberries, which is a nice change from a butter tart... After reading other reviews I wish I'd bought some of the butter tarts! Oh well, there's sure to be a festival next year! At least I hope so! Staff manning the booth were all very nice and friendly. Plus, Beverley's was one OF ONLY 2 vendors offering samples.... The lack of samples available was a real issue. The Queensway BIA should mandate samples. With 6 costing anywhere from $10 to $20 for SIX, samples are mandatory, so you know before you spend so much money, whether you like them! Goddess of grammar signing off...!

Yes, for all those chocolate lovers out there. 2 package for $12 which is really reasonable priced. But really I can only pick 2?! Just wish they have a mixture of flavours in their 6 pack! Chris, the owner and baker was at Stoufville Ribfest, always great to talk to the face behind all these sweetness! So how is the butter tarts? Sorry, not as good as Maid Cottage which is still my favourite. But since those are over $2 a piece, it is a little unfair to compare them. The crust is a little savory trying to balance off the sweetness of the fillings. The fillings. The size of the tart itself is huge and the filling can be a little overwhelming. Next time if you see Beverley's Bakers in various festivities or farmer's market, pick a 6 pack up and show our support to local business!!

Recently, I got to try two of their 6 inch cakes. The earl grey tea chestnut cake with fresh strawberries and the black sesame mochi lava cake with fresh mangoes. Both cakes are AMAZING! I could taste the earl grey flavor and the chestnut flavor separately along with the fresh strawberries, it is a wonderful combination. The black sesame one was sooooo good also. It has black sesame mousse on the outside and the top is like a black sesame lava topped with pistachios and some kind of nutty crumble crunch. The inside has mochis layered within along with black sesame cake, more of that nutty crumble crunch and at the bottom is fresh mangoes. I honestly don't know which one I like better but I am craving either cakes again (I had both within the last 3 weeks haha). The service there is still excellent. Everyone working there is so kind & helpful. The ambiance is nice... it is spacious, bright and clean. I really love going in there and chatting with everyone while receiving top notch service.
