This is a cozy, no-frills place with quite a few booths (that are comfy!) and a high ornate roof. I…read morelike that the tables were not cluttered close together and so it would be a great, not-too-noisy place for conversation and working. However, some of the booth seats seemed a little old and torn, and the window area by the booth seemed a little dusty, like it could be neatened up more often. Other than that, we really liked this place though. First, the service was warm and excellent. The staff were great at answering questions about the menu and giving recommendations. Next, the chocolate butter tart was excellent! There are two options of butter tarts (a particularly Canadian treat), a plain one and a chocolate one. Having consulted a server, they highly recommended the chocolate butter tart for chocolate-lovers. The tart sides were delicious, and similar in texture to an egg tart. The inside was gooey and almost like chocolate sauce with a rich buttery base. The inside sauce really reminded me of a Chinese bun we love in Singapore, the liu sha bao or salted egg yolk custard bun. All in all, I highly recommend the chocolate tart for a small but punchy pop of decadence, and it goes perfect to complement with a cup of coffee. Other than that, the peppermint latte was wonderfully decorated according to my peppermint-loving friend (although another said it was definitely on the sweet side). Meanwhile, although my plain latte did not have the best latte art, staff proactively offered to add a variety of powdered toppings (cinnamon, cocoa and nutmeg) that put a smile to my face. All in all, it's a great place to chill and relax if you're not too fussy about everything being perfectly spic and span. As I said to my friends, sipping my coffee with my chocolate butter tart, "this is the life!"

Wow! The workers here couldn't be nicer. It's like they really like working here…read more The food is very outstanding. A little pricey, but worth every penny, (even though pennies are no longer used in Canada). A great place for a date too.

Unfortunately, due to the historic nature of the building, the upstairs seating area is only accessible by stairs. Quaint, charming café that serves lunchtime treats, coffee, and pastries. The hot cocoa is divine! I really like the literary/"dark academia" vibes and decor, as well as the many cute birdie knick-knacks roosting about the space. Service was friendly and unrushed, I felt free to linger and enjoy at my leisure. I will make it a point to stop in here whenever I pass through Port Huron! I dropped in during the week and there was zero-wait for a table, although I imagine the place probably bustles on weekends!

It's a cute place with a cool theme and is likely great for neighborhood folks who have their regular orders and stop in since it's close. Cons: I felt the place could have used a detailed cleaning. They brought out my friend's salad with *completely brown/gray avocado* on it. And when I say completely gray, I mean completely. Why it left the kitchen and made it to the table is a mystery. We addressed it with the server. Server was nice, but seemed perhaps not as informed about details of menu and drinks. I ordered the peanut butter mocha, but tasted no PB at all. I drank it all - it wasn't that big of a deal, but I agree with other reviews; iced coffee drinks are a touch weak. Pros: Staff was friendly. Cozy atmosphere. Nice size menu. Rest of what we all ordered was good.

4 Stars to make sure this place gets some visitors and stays open…read more This is the kind of place that you dont know about unless you pass it flying down the highway or are from the area. We did the first- so when we were early to check into our Air BnB, we swung back around to check this out. Don't put off by the fact that this place doesn't seem like it has cleaned in years. The actual donut case looked pretty ok. I picture the lil old man waking up everyday and putting on his uniform of a white shirt and tan or black pants and shuffling to work. I'm not sure if the donuts are actually made on site, because it is so small, or if they are brought in and resold ( the donut bag actually was from a place in Royal Oak that I think are now closed). The prices were good though. When i walked in, the man asked if I had cash, so i think its cash only. No problem. Looking around, they do have Beer and Wine as mentioned in the signs outside, but the layer of dust on those Giant Carlo Rossi bottles was an inch thick. The coffee station was (at 2pm) looking like it was the first pot and only pot that will stay there until he closes up tonight. Also, the counter and back counter is where rnadom things go to die. Gloves, tape rolls, odd business cards, and probably anything else you would need in a scavenger hunt can be found. I say all that to say this- the man was still a charming old man who may appear a lil gruff but is most likely a big ol softy and only adds to the charm of this place. He pulled the tray out and says these are the fresh ones, so i picked a half dozen from the ones available, and he threw in a freebie as well- which was sweet of him. The cinnamon rolls were the best for sure- and were indeed very fresh. They were great when we woke up in the Air Bnb the next day with our coffee. I also picked up 2 Meat Pasties- and he gave me cooking directions- which i appreciated.
