I discovered this place today at the Downsview Market…read more I grew up with a lot of these traditional British products which British Baked Goods sells, i.e. Eccles cakes, Empire biscuits, scones (mostly raisin), fern tarts, different meat pies (Melton Mowbray). I purchased the Empire biscuits today which were outstanding. Nice, thick slabs of melt in the mouth goodness with a good, shiny glaze and rich jam as well as a package of raisin scones which were delicious ... mmmm. They have fruit pies as well. Good variety of product, and what I purchased was fresh. Seriously impressive.

We wanted to grab some caffeinated beverages and a snack before a quick wander around Port Dover, so we figured we'd pop in and see what they had. For my drink, I obviously had to try one of their Cocoa-ccinos ("cream, coffee, blended ice, cane syrup"). It's exactly what I was in the mood for, and I had no problem drinking it right down to its last drop. We also shared a Ham and Cheese Scone and a Blueberry Bran Muffin and they were both delicious and very satisfying. And super fresh-tasting, too. Cocoa Cabana is a cool little coffee shop. Aside from their lack of a public restroom, I can't find anything about it I would change.

Udderly Kool will have a soft spot in many peoples hearts. If you've ever spent time in Long Point…read moreOntario, you'll know all about Udderly and their ice cream! While they don't have a massive selection like some shops, their Chapman's ice cream is always fresh and delicious. They have hard and soft options, and the typical waffle cones, regular cones, and bowls. What sets Udderly Kool apart is their "Sample Scoop". When you purchase your ice-cream you are given a sample scoop for free. And this is no tiny nibble of ice cream, it's the full scoop! So when I went this past weekend, I got the chocolate fudge brownie flavour with a sample scoop of the salted caramel on top. Both selections were fantastic, but for a single scoop, I got pretty much enough ice cream to fill a half pint! Their scoops go a long way so you always feel like you are getting your moneys worth! Come with an appetite! In addition to ice cream, this spot is also located next to a fry shack and an arcade for the kiddies. Udderly also sells pop, chips, candy, and some convenience items. Next time you are at the Point, make a point to stop at Udderly Kool for some awesome beachy treats!

The chicken was perfect! Not overdone and still moist inside with a crisp battered outside coated in hot sauce. Yum! The potato bun was good too. A nice contrast to the typical frozen patty and stale grocery store bun. We also had way too many churros when my daughter ordered them thinking she was ordering individual churros, rather than an order of a few, I think 3, for $6. They were awesome! Would definitely go here again when visiting the cool clear waters (lol) of Lake Erie!

Picture your perfect pie…read more Mine starts with a crust that's firm, not flaky, and has a nutty taste that makes me want to eat the crust by itself. Then the filling. I'm usually a chocolate guy but with pies, it has to be a fruit filling. But what fruit? Well, it has to be classic like blueberry but also tarty like cherry but also popping like grape. So yeah, I kinda have an impossible dream pie right? Well, there's a little shop in Simcoe right off the highway that makes amazing pies and tarts and other baked goodies. And while all those are good, some time every July is when Harmony gets 5+++ stars from me. Because that's when they come out with their saskatoon berry pies. If you've never had saskatoon berry, it's a cross between blueberry+cherry+grape with an overlay of a nutty taste. And in pie form? Perfection.

I can't remember who told me about this place, but I subsequently started following their fb page and their offerings looked so tantalizing, that I made it a point to come here and visit. It's not cheap (cake slices ~$6), but the Urban Slice that I had was FRESH, not too sweet! I would've loved to have picked up more items, but I just came from the farmer's market with a pack of butter tarts, so anything else would've been OTT. Cute place with quality baked goods!
