It seems odd to review a rest stop, but when you find one as nice as this, it's a must!
This is such a lovely little rest stop. There is plenty of parking and the bathrooms were clean and tidy. I loved that they had an area just for dogs. I took my pup down there and enjoyed the sun as he smelled all the smells (on leash, of course.) Plus they had a picnic table down there, as well.
And of course, there is the river right there! (Seems more like a creek to me, but who is to say?) It was beautiful and babbling and I could have stared at it / listened to it all day. We walked further down (towards the north side of the rest stop) and could actually put our feet in the water. But Sam (the rescue pup) was having none of it. So we moved on!
Exiting the rest stop was a bit scary (that may be putting it a bit dramatically), because it's on a curve in a 55 MPH zone and we were trying to turn left back onto the highway. Turned out fine, but I can imagine on a busy day (or with an RV or pulling a boat, etc.) it might get tough getting out of there.
Anyway! Yes, I'll definitely stop here again! If nothing else to stretch our legs, get the pup out of the car, and enjoy the beautiful scenery. read more
