Now let me be honest, when I pulled up and didn't see a line, I got a little nervous. Like is this a hidden gem or am I about to learn a life lesson? But curiosity won. The staff was friendly, no complaints there, but y'all know how sometimes you need that one person to say, "BABY, get THIS!" yeah, I didn't get that kind of guidance. So I went with the fried fish and fries. The fish looked like it was about to change my life. Golden, seasoned, photogenic, all that. Took a bite and it was good but I wanted a little more crunch. That's on me though, because I didn't ask for it extra crispy. Lesson learned: closed mouths don't get crispy fish. Now the fries? Whew. They came through crispy and did NOT play with me. Overall, solid 4/5. I'd definitely go back, just with a special request next time!

I really was looking forward to trying some of their whiting fish, but they were out unfortunately. I tried their catfish with fries, and the dish tasted pretty good. It was seasoned very well and served hot. I really enjoyed their seafood gumbo. This soup definitely reminded me of New Orleans. I would suggest more soup than rice, but it was still delicious nonetheless. All in all, Nawlins Style was pretty good. I'll definitely have to come back when they have some whiting fish. Ohh and just fyi.. they don't have yellow mustard. They only have spicy mustard. So if you want some mustard with your dish, you might want to bring your own.

I have sat down multiple times to write this review and I've deleted it because I can't seem to…read morefully express how amazing this business and these owners truly are. My family and I visited this restaurant after my doctors appointment a couple of weeks ago, we are not from the area we actually live in Gadsden so it was our first time trying this restaurant. Let me just start out with this the food was absolutely delicious. I don't have much of an appetite these days and I. An honestly say I finished almost all of my food and ate until I was stuffed and that isn't something that happens very often. Each member of my family was happy with their food and was already planning out what they would order when we come back after my next appointment . I just opened a Farm Stand in our home town and while we were sitting and eating I spotted a mixer that was sitting off to the side with some other supplies. If you know anything about industrial mixers they are far from cheap I had been looking at a few in the $500 range so I thought I would just check. I asked the guy upfront if he could ask the owner if it was for sale and if so how much he was asking. The owner came and spoke to us and I quickly realized that the mixer he had was way more expensive than the ones I had been looking at and I told him I was sorry that I couldn't even give him a fair price after looking up the kind he had . He looked at us and gave me a price that was astonishing to say the least , but I still didn't have that much at the moment. He told me to give him what I could and then pay him later when I had it for the rest. This is a man who has never met me he had no reason to help me besides just being kind. When you hear this man talk about helping others and community he means it, it's not just talk to make him sound good. I left his restaurant that day with a mixer that was several thousands of dollars. So I say all of that to say this Alabaster and surrounding areas yall are truly blessed to have a business that not only has amazing food but has amazing people who truly care about others, and from personal experience I can tell you they don't have to have known you for years to treat you like family. We will be making this restaurant part of our stop each time we come through. Thank you again for blessing me I can't tell you how much it has ment!

The first time we waited around 15 minutes at a table before anyone acknowledged us, and the second time was basically the same experience sitting at the bar. Friendly service definitely wasn't the strong point here either. That said, the food honestly saved this review from being much lower. The wings had a fantastic sauce with great flavor, the fried pickles were crispy and addictive, and the fried green tomatoes were genuinely delicious with a really solid batter. Even the beers were ice cold and crisp, which fit the vibe perfectly. The biggest issue is that the pricing feels a little high for the overall experience and environment. If you're charging those kinds of prices, the cleanliness and service really need to match it better. If you're coming strictly for fried bar food and cold beer, you'll probably enjoy it. Just don't expect attentive service or a polished atmosphere.

The cook's name is Joseph and he knows how to season. My only complaint was that it's a bar at night so still smoke filled during the day. I noticed a LOT of outgoing orders. My husband couldn't smell the smoke until we got into the car together, but I have asthma, and I could. He had meatloaf with black-eyed peas and collards. No seasoning needed! And it was $7 and change-we will go back. This is my second visit. It won't be the last.

They no longer have French toast so I did have to pick something different. Our server was Caitlyn and she was very attentive and friendly. There were five of us and we all ordered different things I started off with the pineapple and orange juice mimosa. Once some of us realize that we wanted a second one we ended up getting a bottle of champagne and we were able to get three juices with it. We picked pineapple, orange, and lavender. Lavender was a little too syrupy for my taste. And for $24 you really can't beat that. I got the crabcake Benedict with two hash brown sticks. It was so delicious. I can't wait to go back and get some more. This is a really cool restaurant because it is in an old elementary school that they turned into businesses when you go into the hallway it's like you're at a school which you are. If you go to the bathroom the toilet seats are very low to the floor. They do not take reservations, but when we got there on a Saturday morning at 11, there was no wait. When it's busy, parking can be complicated. I will definitely be back for brunch. If you haven't tried it I highly suggest going.

I jumped at the chance to try this place out because of the reviews of other Yelpers. The restaurant is sitting on the corner of Pelham Parkway and County Road 68 East, across from The Foundry Superthrift Outlet and Dollar General, and next door to TherapySouth. It is a nice sized place and the atmosphere is welcoming. I was helped by Dyron, who seemed like he never knew a stranger. He was so kind to everyone, including those on the phone. I even heard him say, "So we got your dad covered - what can I get started for YOU?" He was excited when he found out I was a "newbie". I love the menu. Each item has some form of "hit" in the name - slappin', crackin', slammin', and more. I ended up with the "Bussin' Burger" and a side of fries to go (since I was heading back to work). The food is cooked upon ordering, so my meal was nice and hot when I left. And I am here to tell you, the name of the burger was totally accurate! It was delicious - seasoned very well, and the perfect amount of toppings. The fries were good, but that burger - so good! No wonder Hit Different is a 2026 Shelby County Small Business of the Year Nominee! They deserve it and then some! Do yourself a favor, listen to the other Yelpers, and head down Highway 31 for an amazing meal at Hit Different! I am going back!
