Our previous experience w Public Storage was horrendous so was looking to avoid that again. As far as trying to set up the storage with an actual person on-site this was a complete failure on their part. First off, they didn't have anyone manning the office during peak hours, we know this b/c my wife called corporate office and they said as much. When she did get someone locally on the phone said they would be right over to show her around, an hour passed of her sitting waiting no one showed up. On the second day she returned finally met in-person and secured semi-inside unit. On our move-in day came to find the floor was littered with what looked like saw dust powder. Again we had to call bc no one was on-site, after another hour of waiting the property manager showed up and cleaned up the unit. You may wonder why we put up w all these headaches, the price is nice. $39 for 5 x 5 semi-climate controlled. So to sum up, getting in touch w these ppl that should be in their office is a nightmare but if you do pretty reasonable rates.

As is the usual custom with shirt laundering, it was on a hangar and wrapped in plastic. Perfect. No stains, no marks and no wrinkles. Excellent. And my four star review would have ended there, but the next day I got a voice mail from Nan's. They were following up to make sure that my order was perfect and thanking me for being a customer. The boxes were loaded, locked, and ready to be picked up and placed in storage. I ordered the pick up well in advance of March 16 because after closing on the 17th we were leaving the state of SC and heading to our cabin in the NC mountains 300 miles away. Because Uhaul didn't have a driver available our Uboxes remained on property that no longer belonged to us for several days. Fortunately we had great neighbors at our former residence that helped coordinate between us and the new property owners to NOT have our Uboxes impounded. I don't remember the exact day but I'm sure it can be tracked by Uhaul the day our Uboxes finally made it to the storage building in Florence SC. Fast forward to January 2024, keep in mind my rent for storage was paid every month on time, I received a message from Uhaul saying that once I paid the 1900 and some ott dollars they would complete the transport of my Ubox from Henderson to Florence SC. In my mind I wondered why my Ubox was in Henderson NC. So I called Uhaul customer service and imagine my surprise when I was told my Ubox was in Henderson Nevada. Of course I wasn't charged for the transport and my Ubox made it back to Florence. A few weeks later I ordered delivery of all 4 of my Uboxes to our new home in Loris SC on 5-10-2024. A few days prior the transportation folks called me and confirmed my order. On 5-8-2024 I received a message to call the Florence storage facility concerning my Uboxes. I did and was told my Uboxes would be delivered to my new house between 4 and 8 pm on 5-10-2024. 5-10-2923 arrives and I get a call from the Uhaul delivery driver at 1:40 pm. She was at my new house and I was not, I was 30 minutes away. I gave her instructions on how I wanted the boxes placed and I immediately headed that way. I arrived and just caught her in time before she left but it was fine the way she staged the boxes. The driver left and my wife and I proceeded to check the Uboxes. The first 3 appeared fine, what we could see by just opening them and looking. When we got to the last box, the same one that unknowingly sent to Henderson Nevada, it had a lock on it that wasn't mine. Of course I couldn't open it. I called the manager of the storage facility and she said she would send someone out to open it the next morning. Here we go again no one showed up to unlock the Uhaul lock that was placed on my Ubox after someone cut my lock off. We cut the lock off emptied the contents of all 4 boxes then called the manager of the Florence storage facility. Her response was that she sent someone and she got too busy and forgot to check on her employee. Well now it's after noon and your employee is unaccounted for 5 hours. Let's go to picking up the boxes. On Tuesday 5-14 I received a call from the transportation section stating the boxes could not be picked up until 5-16 or 5-17 due to the rain. About an hour and a half later my builder texts me a picture of my Uboxes on the flat bed heading back to wherever. I guess that's a fitting end to my 14 month saga with Uhaul. As much turmoil, carelessness, incompetence, and stress Uhaul has put me and my family through over the past 14 months a full refund of all fees paid should be reimbursed. I entrusted your company with almost everything my family owns and you guys broke that trust. If I post this on Yelp it will probably have a serious effect on new potential customers and rightfully so. I am waiting for a response.
