Easy access pumps with a high roof and the long squeegee sticks so I can clean my entire windshield. A free ten cent per gallon discount on gasoline that makes them the least expensive fuel in the area. Inside, a "Welcome to Love's" from the young man behind the register. Tons of snacks and coolers to choose from. Restrooms that are actually clean. Overall, super positive and I'll continue to patronize Love's. We got to experience the ole "brisket on the board" as soon as we walked in, and of course, we decided to scoop up a few sammies to eat when we reached out hotel. It was the perfect welcome snack for us! Outside of the brisket, we went ahead and scooped up hotel room snacks and drinks. We planned on doing that at a store near the hotel, but when in Rome... The food however is out of date more often than not. I've bought a couple sandwiches that I later realized were already open, and I once bought a pint of milk that after I took a sip I looked at the date, nearly a month past expired. I won't buy food here anymore but if I need cheap gas I'll stop.

But I remember now they just ok'd the charge and I didn't have to sign anything. I can't even remember if I got a recept but if I had it wouldn't have mattered. I had no reason to think I needed to dissect it until now. I can't say for certain that this wasn't innocent human error but I can't imagine how that could happen accidently. Anyways, since I didn't go to any great lengths to protect myself by asking for and inspecting a receipt I have no choice but to let this go. It was only $5. But I imagine that adds up to a nice little unearned profit if repeated. I didn't want to drive Hwy 49 ALL the way back to Hwy 280, and when I saw the neon OPEN sign in the window at Store 34. I pulled in - I knew they had pizza, and I was happy to support a local business. I parked, walked to the door, and tried to open it - but it was locked. "That sucks," I thought, "I guess she forgot to turn off the sign." I returned to my car. 2 doors down, I saw a woman exit the Lake Martin Pizza Co. holding a cardboard box. "Terrific! I can support another local business," I thought. I looked at the door and saw that on Wednesdays they're open until 9pm - great! Since it was only 8:22 pm, I wasn't coming in at the last minute! I walked in and was told by the smiling young lady at the counter "We closed at 8:00 - sorry!" On my way out, I looked at the hours on the door - yep - open till 9:00. So, I drove all the way out Hwy 49 to 280 and crossed it to the Subway at 17957 Highway 280 Ste C. I walked in, and I was greeted warmly by the person working the counter. He custom-made my sandwich, I paid a fair price, and I drove all the way back to Stillwaters. When I passed Store 34 and Lake Martin Pizza company, they both looked visibly closed from Hwy 49. It was 8:41 pm. So - among these three establishments, I recommend the Subway. They do what they promise. I like to support local businesses - but I also like a good meal after a long day.
