Other companies gave us long lead times to get the furnace fixed or replaced. Tom from Gerondale Heating came out to check our furnace that same evening. He showed me the issue and said we either needed a burner replacement or a new furnace. The old furnace was undersized and a replacement, for a little more money, gave us a proper size and a 10 year warranty. We opted for the new furnace, and Tom Jr. brought one up from Green Bay and had it completely installed and working properly by noon the next day. Great service, great product and friendly people as well!

Because of his knowledge, we decided to go with a new heater. He helped us get financing quickly and it was installed by two awesome techs he has. They were so considerate, putting down tarps so they wouldn't damage the floor as they came in and out. At one point, the tech redid all the wiring so it would "look cleaner". They were so nice and quick. Cleaned up everything before they left. I would highly recommend Jack.

We have used Modern Sheet Metal Inc (Modern Heating and Cooling) since we bought our house and…read morereplaced the heating/ac unit the next spring. They were professional, skilled, and had the the new system installed in the basement in very little time and it worked perfectly. A few years later the starter in it did burn out and their 24 hour emergency service person was prompt and had the part needed. The other day we thought we smelled gas in a small wall heater that is in our porch so we called them; they came right out to check. Turns out there was no leak (they did a thorough check) so we were happy about that. They also replaced our heating/ac unit's filter. Very professional, helpful, answered questions/concerns. I recommend Modern to anyone who is in the market for installation or service of HVAC.

First of all....they're awesome. We moved to the area in 1998 and added a/c soon afterwards…read more There was a Modern Sheet Metal sticker on the furnace, so I called them for an estimate. We haven't used anyone else, nor quoted anyone else since then. This past weekend I noticed an odd smell and soot buildup on the exhaust vent for our furnace. Since it was a Sunday in February, I called WE Energies first. The WE rep measured the CO2 at the exhaust and told me that he would need to shut our furnace down before he left, and recommended that I call my HVAC contractor. Modern Sheet Metal had someone at our house within a half an hour. He told me which furnace he would recommend and measured for the new unit. Since it was a Sunday, we scheduled the install for Tuesday. He then left three space heaters with us to keep the house warm. Monday morning's temp was 15 degrees outside, 64 inside. As I was preparing to leave for work at 7am, my phone rang. It was Modern asking if it would be okay to install the new unit that morning. The guys arrived before 7:30 and had the new furnace installed by 10:00. They also left the work area cleaner than when they arrived. Absolutely recommend them for your heating and A/C needs.

On the coldest damn day of the year, my furnace decides to quit. Ugh!…read more I have a Carrier furnace and there are only a couple of authorized repair firms in the area. Hurckman Heating were very quick to respond to my call and get someone at my house. The technician was highly skilled, informative, and very quick. The rates are reasonable, technician--top notch, and great response time. Thank you for a job well done on such a cold day.

Afterwards, I had concerns about how to properly clean the grate, as there was no accessible panel. A representative from Bob's confirmed that the grates are not removable and advised using a product called Nu-Calgon Evap Foam No Rinse to clean the condensing coil. Earlier this year, Matthew's Heating & Cooling inspected and cleaned my furnace. They determined that the condensate drain had not been installed in a workmanlike manner and strongly advised against using the cleaning product mentioned above (see attached report). To date, we have identified at least two furnaces that experienced this same issue. I scheduled a meeting with the condo board president and a representative from Bob's Heating. No one from Bob's showed up for the meeting. I would urge any resident living at Richmond Terrace to use another vendor when replacing their furnace.

With multiple techs coming into our house. Not super respectful of our time. They quoted that we needed all new duct work for thousands of dollars, which, fine, thank you for the info but we don't have 20K to get all new ducts. The problem: They took out our old filter in our furnace and threw it away. Forgot to let us know that, so we just were running it with no filter for 10+ days, which is pretty bad for the unit and our air quality throughout the home. It's also potentially a safety hazard to not have a filter...seems odd for a company that specializes in this to leave our unit worse off seeing as they came to "tune it up".
