Buyer beware: this is a shed, not a "chalet"
Do not go here if you have any expectations. We went after reading the great reviews, expecting a peaceful and relaxing getaway. Well, there's no way to describe how horrible our experience was. From the beginning, with the trek up the 25 stairs that were slick and covered with pine needles and actual algae, to walking into a converted shed that seems untouched by the past 30 years of life and cleaning - especially dusting and mold/mildew removal - everything about this place was bad. There were warning signs posted all over the place, including an admonition to not lay on the "pretty" bedspread. Signs telling you what washcloths and towels to use and not use. There were so many signs, it was distracting (certainly not peaceful). There is a 30 year-old TV with a distorted picture. Hoping to stay there, we even went out and bought a better TV! WiFi is spotty at best, mostly non-existent. There was a nest of some type in the ceiling. Filthy couch that we covered with a blanket because the manager told us to not even try to use the extra bedroom ("it gets too cold"), so one of us tried to sleep on the old, lumpy couch. Noisy from trucks on the highway, so we did not hear the waterfall or stream referred to in the information. The power went off, which was not their fault; it happens in the mountains, and the manager brought us some mattress pads (not blankets) to cover up with. There was just no way to stay there. We truly tried to make the best of it, but when the cold weather and wind coming through the windows made the temperature in the shed only 60 degrees (with the so-called heater turned up to 85 degrees, but blowing cold), we had to leave. This after we'd gone out and bought blankets to try to keep warm and candles and plugins to try to make the place smell better. All in all, a horrible experience. We left after one cold, sleepless night. Found a place to stay that was warm and dry ‒ at a lower price and with free breakfast. Also lots safer for walking around. Taking a monetary hit on this, as expected (you can tell they're desperate for money, and the place is even for sale), but hoping to warn others to stay away, even though the owner is likely to try to make it seem our fault. There are much nicer places all around, at better prices, so you can have a nice trip. Buyer beware, as they say. read more
