Remember those consumer report shows you see where they investigate horrible used car salesman? Well, we lived through that. Here is why we would NEVER, EVER recommend buying from Tiger Auto.
My boyfriend and I purchased a Nissan Frontier here in March 2015. We had test drove it and told Kal about our plans to move out West (thus we needed a truck that would get us there, safely). The truck seemed great but was very rusted. After some negotiation over the cosmetic state of the truck, we settled thinking we were getting an amazing deal and thinking Kal was a great guy... boy were we wrong.
We drove the truck for 2 weeks before the "Check Engine Soon" light came on. My boyfriend did some research and was able to reset it... only for it to come back on days later. Knowing that we were travelling over 5,000km, we wanted to make sure the truck was good. We took it to a local Toronto mechanic and here is where out nightmare was uncovered.
The bill totalled out to close to $800. Normally we wouldn't be upset but that was just the total for the issues relating directly to the "safety" of the truck. Our mechanic had said that if it was up to him the trucks should have never been safetied at all due to his [the mechanics] assumed liability.
After this, we got on the phone with Kal who proceeded to be sketchy. Definitely screening our phone calls and becoming mysteriously unavailable. It wasn't until I called and threatened reporting him to the MTO that we got help. He paid for $350 of the bill. The scariest part is the company that he "safetied" the truck with is a mystery. You can't find them online, in the phonebook, or anywhere. So very shady.
In the end, we had to bite the bullet since arguing and fighting for something gets draining. It's just sad that businesses like this still exist and that they take advantage of people just to make some extra cash.
Never. Again. read more
