There are lots of seating area and bigger cake displays with more deli choices. I was shopping at Sugar Park Plaza across street and noticed the sign, nice and big. Red Berries Bakeshop is smacked between Cici's Pizza and Xfinity Store. I can't resist of coming in. Wow. The friendly employees greeted me as I walked in. That was how I remember Red Berries Bakeshop. I have been to its sister store Hot Breads Bakers on Hillcroft Street. Yeah. I like this one better. As I was contemplating with what to eat for lunch, a helpful customer suggested to try their panini. So, I ordered Masala Aloo Panini. While waiting, I also bought 2 boxes of cookies because of the buy one gets one for 50% off holiday offer. My sweet tooth was not ended yet. I also ordered a cake shot - cake and topping in a shot glass. I used to remember all the pastries taste and ingredients. I know my favorite is the eggless Pista Cookies. One of the boxes of cookies was assorted. I don't know their names, but I know few of them has Indian spices. Mmm... So Yummy. It took about 10 minutes for Panini to arrive. I could never imagine having a meatless panini with spicy potatoes before. The cheese and spicy sauce just melt in my mouth with the toasty bun. Anyway, to finish it off, I ate that cake shot. Ha! What a square meal. If you are in the area, make sure to stop by. Oh, I can't recommend any particular dish because I will tell you to order everything.

The bright Red Berries sign caught my attention and made me want to come in and try a slice (or two) of their cakes. I had no idea what was in store for me! I walked in and was greeted by an amiable staff member who was kind enough to show me and explain to me some of their different menu items and pastries. I was quite excited to try their Rasmalai Pastry and I loved it! It was so light and tasty. I will definitely be back again.

This was a pretty quaint place, tucked in off a lot by 59. There are a lot of cookies and puffs on…read moresale. The puffs are consist of chicken tikka puffs, goat kameer puffs, and various other Indian treats. All of these puffs were about $2.89+ tax. They also have trays of cookies that were sold by the pound. However, the owner allowed me to mix and match my cookies so I was able to sample 5 different cookies. All the cookies were pretty average and not super distinctive. However, the puffs were really good!!! The chicken tikka puff, especially. The coconut cookies, which i thought would taste like macaroons, turned out to be really soft. The chicken was contained in this flaky croissant creation that tasted like magic. But! It was very, very oily. So I just threw my cheat day out of the window. We purchased 5 cookies and one big puff that managed to fill two of us up for lunch. All this totaled about $5.30! Pretty cheap compared to other hotshot bakeries. Try it out! Get some cheap, ethnic goodness in your mouth! No ragrets.

Maybe it's a sign I need another vacation to…read moreHong Kong...but since that wasn't an option at the moment, the only solution was to find somewhere that sells egg tarts in Houston. I searched on Yelp, and this was the first bakery that came up! I arrived around 5ish, and after reading the reviews, I was worried they might have already sold out for the day. Luckily for me, they still had some left! I asked if they had pineapple buns as well, but the gentleman told me those had sold out around 11 a.m. He recommended arriving about 30 minutes after opening next time to make sure I could get some. Anyways, I managed to snag 6 egg tarts, and they were so, so, so good! They were perfectly flaky and creamy and definitely hit the spot. (I ate two before making it home, so that's why only 4 are pictured.) 5/5 for customer service. The owner(?) and the person who rang me up and gave me advice were friendly. I am most definitely coming back next weekend to pick up some more!

Incredibly flaky with a creamy sweet custard filling. Others just don't compare. The guys up front were cordial and shout out to the hard working bakers and staff in the back. The inside is functional and reminiscent of the immigrants who brought this area together and continue to keep this community thriving. Next time we're in Houston we'll have to try their other pastries as well. As others noted, don't forget to bring cash as there is a small credit card fee.
