We visited The Grill on the Corner during their manic 50% off January deal (50% off food - too good…read moreto resist!). I've dined her quite a few times so knew what to expect - a good selection of steaks and tasty starters. And after last year's cocktail making masterclass, my first request was a passion fruit sling. The bar girl whipped it up really quickly and clearly with lots of skill, and served up one of the best cocktails I've had in a long time - and it was topped with half a passion fruit. And only £6.50 which I think is a good price for a cocktail in the city centre. We had arrived early for drinks in the bar before our dinner booking and got a booth. I really like the bar area, I think it's generous size and comfy booths would make a good cocktail stop whether or not you were dining there. Right on time, a waitress came to collect us for our table and took our coats so all we had to carry were our drinks which I thought was a nice touch. The dining area in the GOTC is really beautiful - lots of glitz and glamour with the leather seats, chandeliers and the fairy lights in the window. Our table was an oval shaped booth tucked away in a corner as our booking was for 8 people but there was only 6 of us. This was probably my only criticism of the evening - the way the booth was shaped made conversation difficult (and with the background noise) so you could only really talk to the people immediately next to you. If there had of been 8 of us I think it would have been a lot worse! I started with cheddar and spring onion croquettes. Three croquettes with a portion of salad, these were lovely and crisp. I think the filling needs a bit more of a punch to it as the flavours are a bit mild but I think that's how they're meant to be. I'd definitely get them again though as I am croquette-obsessed. Because we were getting 50% off, I decided to go for the fillet steak on the "Best of British menu" - this is a changing menu where they feature a few cuts at a premium price. I can't remember which beef was featured on that menu but it was around £34 for a fillet steak of 220g. I opted for blue cheese sauce and chips with mine. The steak was a little pale on the outside - I like a nice sear on it but not enough to complain about. It was cooked to perfection (medium rare) and I had no trouble devouring the whole thing! The sauce was lovely and rich and a really good sized jug so I didn't run out. The chips are consistently good - rough cut with the skin still on and lovely and crispy. I had a lemon sorbet to finish. I remember last time I ordered this it had a slightly strange taste but there wasn't anything of the sort this time. The bill came to around £35 each - that was for a cocktail, 3 course meal and soft drinks. Seriously good value and a fantastic night out. Moving into February they're doing a lobster deal so I think I'll be tempted back sooner rather than later!

Meat cooked well. Appetizers were small. 2.50 for a tiny bowl of brocolli and such. Overall price…read morewas reasonable. Very modern interior - was expecting old world steakhouse - more bistro than cigar bar. I was hoping for worn wood and brass and found black leather walls and slate floors. I booked online but it was not necessary - lots of tables around 7pm on a Friday. Service was good and prompt.

They were very nice on the phone and said no reservation needed that day and casual was fine. The space is really nice and classy as it says. The staff were all super nice!! Now the food, two of us had the Cote de something, basically a bone in ribeye. Talk about amazing!!! You could cut it with a fork, no kidding!!! No knife needed!! The garlic butter with it was not needed, but was also amazing, dipped my mashed potatoes in it. It isn't cheap nor overly priced, but for the classy place and the excellent meat and service it was worth it!!! I would rate this steak too 5 maybe top 3 all time!!! Most definitely will be back if/when in town!!

Waiter spent a great deal of time talking to us just as if we known him for a long time it was great. the level of friendliness and hospitality was very impressive. The menu is very nice and not expensive at all. TRUFFLED BRIOCHE- The dish is amazing even though I did not taste any truffle but there was a entire truffle mushroom itself there, the plate they presented it in was annoying to rest the silverware, was a bowl type of plate and the fork kept falling in lol GOLDEN BREEZE- the drink was suggested by our waiter and it was amazing cudos to him! GNOCCHI- WHAT an unfortunate plate. This was to me not a gnocchi.i love the fact that our waited noticed and made sure to ask me if everything was ok with my choice, that shows that the staff cares about customer service. The gnocchi was blend and tasteless it to me was more of a polenta and not a gnocchi it was cooked pan fried and not like a past should so it was not a great plate definitely not a gnocchi. I would definitely recommend the place, not the gnocchi but the place was pretty nice. come and have a try!
