I ordered the ( lunch) steak fajitas for lunch, and I was charged an additional fee for the rice and beans. The menu indicated that the fajitas came with rice and beans, so I was surprised to see an extra charge on my bill. In addition, some of our friends had some type of surcharge added to their bill. I have ordered fajitas at many restaurants, and I have never encountered a situation where the rice and beans listed as part of the meal were subject to an additional charge. I asked my server about it and she said I'm sorry, but beans and rice are extra. I paid the bill without further disputing the charges because I did not want to make an issue of it at the time. However, I believe these additional fees should be clearly disclosed on the menu so customers can make informed decisions before ordering. Unfortunately, this experience has left me disappointed, and I do not plan to return. The friends who accompanied me also expressed that they will not be returning.

First thing when you walk in this restaurant smells very clean. Not overpowering but the reassuring smell that they take food safety seriously. They are located in a Publix shopping plaza and have booths, tables and a bar with stools. I sat in a booth and came specifically for lunch because Amanda, another Yelper, had called out the deals. I was really impressed with their salsa. Usually I want queso but this had such a fresh taste and to me had an old school chunky texture you rarely find. I ate way too many of the complimentary chips and salsa. I ordered the lunch ribeye and the lunch chicken fajitas. The fajitas came out in the traditional sizzling presentation. They tasted as good as they looked with all the fixings. The steak was for later. A lot of time a thin lunch steak does not come out to a medium rare. This was spot on and the steak was juicy and tender. A really good steak! Both meals came with tortillas that maybe were homemade? The server greeted me and took my order right away. I had asked for some modifications and I thought it was nice she repeated them back to me so the kitchen would get it right. My bill was presented and quickly processed on a handheld device. Overall the ambiance of this restaurant is a neighborhood family place. I appreciated that they offer extremely neat bathrooms and a selfie wall for celebrations.

Even though we didn't get to eat them fresh, they were STILL so good that we decided to come back the very next day to try them fresh! This time I switched it up and ordered THE OG... and WOW! It may have become one of our new favorite smash burger spot in Central Florida! The burgers were fresh, flavorful, crispy on the edges, and cooked just right. AND THE FRIES!!! The secret little sprinkle of goodness! The service was quick and friendly, and the atmosphere is casual, cute, and welcoming. Plus, there's convenient outdoor seating if you want to enjoy your meal there. Definitely worth checking out if you're a smash burger fan! We'll absolutely be back to try more..... again!

I ordered one of their IPAs on tap, and my homegirl ordered a mocktail. The bartender who greeted us was friendly and very chipper. Service was quick as well. Shortly after placing our drink order(s), our food order was ready. The smash burger was REALLY good. I got their OG. I kept it quite simple. It was well made and had a great flavor profile. The seasoned fries were also good. It was a great-sized burger too - so you got a lot of bang for your buck. Overall, I'd visit Maya Rosa again for JUST the smash burger alone, should I find myself in the Sandford area.

We ordered the Elotes off the cob ($11.99) and the Molcajete ($30) which is grilled fajita steak, chicken, chorizo, shrimp, onions, nopal cactus and cheese. We also ordered one Margarita ($16). We first experienced a Molcajete in a restaurant in Mazatlan, Mexico and fell in love with it and all of its ingredients including the cactus. This Molcajete at Cocina Maya was soooo tasty. Served in an actual Molcajete which is made from lava rock and it holds the heat very very well. We shared this between the two of us and still had a decent amount to bring home with us. The Elotes was very tasty and the corn was nice and firm and it was perfect. Service was friendly and attentive. The dining room is light in colors and there is a lot of light that shines through the windows. This restaurant is a good distance from our home, and well worth the drive to it. We most definitely recommend this tasty restaurant.

Unfortunately, the restaurant experience was pretty disappointing compared to that first impression. The space itself feels a little sterile, although the service staff was friendly and nice. We ordered the al pastor and chicken tacos, and I also tried the tamales and my friend's fish tacos. Unfortunately, everything felt a bit dry and under-seasoned. The masa on the tamales in particular was very dry. The drinks were just okay as well, they tasted pretty weak compared to the cocktails we had at the Yelp event. It's a shame because I really enjoyed what I tried at the event and went in expecting a lot more. Maybe we just caught them on an off day, but based on the difference between the two experiences, I left pretty disappointed.
