Went here on a whim for dinner last night. Our server was so sweet. I got street tacos and the hubs got a chimichanga. Our server highly recommended the Barbacoa and that was the highlight of everything. Chimichanga was delish. Tacos were flavorful. The pastor and asada seemed a bit tough, but the barbacoa was tender and super flavorful. Next time I will definitely order 3 barbacoa tacos with the green salsa. I did feel like it was a bit expensive for what you got though. I would be more apt to eat there often if I could order just 3 street tacos at $3/piece or so with no rice and beans. read more

Im giving this place 4 stars because the staff was very polite and attentive and the food was pretty good. Im from California which has the hands down best mexican food in the country so im a bit of a critic when it comes to mexican restaurants. I went in for dinner and the food here wasn't bad. The caldo de res was really flavorful and the meat was tender. I only wish the salsa was more flavorful and had some spice because it was pretty bland except for the spicier salsa they gave me for my soup. I also had a michilada which was one of the better ones I've had in this area so far. read more

Absolutely delicious, my friend got the beef tacos and I had a beef quesadilla. Both came with beans, rice, lettuce sour cream and pico de gallo. Chips and salsa were brought to the table before our meal that was ready in no time. Great server and atmosphere. We will be back soon. Must try ! read more

Nothing authentic about this place. From their canned beans, mushy instant rice, and CANNED chicken this place is definitely the worst Mexican food I have ever had. I have tried them 4 times now through out the years and it has just gotten steadily worse. The only positive thing is the atmosphere and friend ice cream Anyone who gives this place a good review I am sure has never eaten actual Mexican food. read more

I'm from California. I've lived in Texas. I am a chef. I have trained with Mexican people and others from Latin America. I've eaten my way up and down Mexico. This meal is one of the nastiest things we have ever had. We ordered through DoorDash. The refried beans of all three meals that we ordered were runny and had zero flavor. The rice of all three meals was grainy and mushy. The mahi of the tacos had no flavor, was chewy, and they were dripping some sort of fluid, no idea what that could have possibly been It's fish and was most obviously not marinated. The burrito was surrounded with grease and the beef inside was mushy hamburger at best. This too had zero flavor. There was so much grease the only thing that could be tasted was a hint of cheese. Thank goodness for the lime from the mahi tacos It was the only thing that made the fajitas palatable. The steak on these was partially chewy and partially like mush that I actually had to spit back out cuz it was so gross. There was absolutely no flavor and I have been to some bad Mexican restaurants where their meat still had flavor. I cannot possibly fathom how you can prepare meat for fajitas and have it be flavorless. This restaurant claims to make traditional Mexican flare but anyone who knows anything knows that fajitas are Tex-Mex not true Mexican. As for mahi tacos they originated in Baja California Mexico and are not eaten anywhere outside of that Northern State when it comes to Mexico itself. So I'm not sure how to take their claim of authentic Mexican cuisine. This restaurant's only saving grace is that we had ordered three meals and only one arrived via DoorDash. When my son called about the error they immediately got on the other two meals which my son drove the 20 minutes to DeBary to pick up. We were looking forward to this because of the reviews but we will never eat here again and I haven't a clue what previous reviewers were thinking, they either do not have taste buds or do not understand Mexican food. read more

Nope. Our first visit will be our last. Salsa tasted like plain tomato sauce. Enchilada sauce tasted like plain tomato sauce. Little tiny portions of rice, beans, & teaspoon of pico With my small chili relleno & tamale = $20 !! Service was good, thank you. read more

Easy parking, easy to get to. I don't know how this place is never slammed. The food is so good. It's one of my favorite Mexican places in the area. The tables and chairs are adorable and carved and look hand painted. I highly recommend!! read more

For the most part, Yelp ratings are fairly accurate. But once in a while you find a highly-rated and reviewed spot that excites you. Then the visit is a complete disaster and it leaves you perplexed. (Yes I said perplexed!). I am literally shaking my head at these reviews saying how great this place is. I mean, did I catch it on an off night? Substitute cook? I honestly can't call it, but I do know it was one of the worse dinners I've had In a really long time. It was an epic fail of gargantuan proportions. Ok maybe not that bad but I definitely felt pranked and played afterwards. The nachos appetizer definitely has a flair of its own. I just could decide if that was good or bad but I'm leaning heavily towards bad. The carnitas platter tasted old and recooked. The beans were a watery mess and the rice was just ok. I can only conclude that La Catrina Tapatia is just not my cup of guacamole. read more

Disappointing. The one star is because the place is clean, and the people are friendly; after that, it is all downhill. Chips were terrible and the salsa was not much different than the sauce from a can of Spaghettio's. I had the Enchiladas Suizas which comes with rice and refried beans and no flavor at this place. Seriously, I have never had Mexican food that is so bland. I'm not sure how anyone would give this place four or five stars. read more

I'm only giving two stars because our waiter was funny and attentive, i ordered the skinny patron margarita and there was a bug in it ... a small flying bug but still . I ordered the barbacoa tacos ... BIG MISTAKE the meat was fatty and and tasteless , they didn't fry the tortilla and there was no dipping sauce . I left feeling sick to my stomach. The sangria was bad ... tasted like juice and sprite . The chips and salsa were the worst I've had ... the chips were burnt and hard the salsa was like tomato juice with floating cilantro . I will not be going back. I hope they do better . read more

Needed to grab some food and decides to give this place a try. Saw a few things on the menu that looked good but what drew me in was a chorizo quesidilla, because I rarely find a place that has them. So I called in an order for pickup, was told 10 minutes. Happy to hear a quick turn around however I was about 20 minutes away. So as you can imagine, I was suprised when the order wasn't ready when I arrived. The place was about halfway full. I could see other patrons waiting around for various things too. But the food. The quesidilla was delicious. It came with sour cream, lettuce, pico de gallo and some hot sauce. I really like the flavor of the pico but the hot sauce was straight fire for me. The Mexican rice & pinto beans refritos were decent. All and all I would come back for that quesidilla again and to try a few other items on the menu. I just don't see me going out of my way for it. read more

Chips were cold, old, and overdone. Salsa has NO spice. I had the combo with a chile relleno and pork tamal. I've never seen anything so small. Chile was 3.5 inches long and 3/4 inch thick. Tamal was the size of my middle finger in both length and diameter. Very hard and very little pork. This place is a definite NO GO! I'm sticking to my "Go to" down the road Mi Tierra. read more

We tried this spot today and loved it! It's a small place with authentic Mexican food. Chips, salsa and guacamole were all great. We also had carne asada tacos and Al pastor tacos. We'll be back to have fajitas and churros next time! read more

Went here because local fb group and some google reviews had good ratings. My rating is based off a first time visit. Place is next to the local Walmart grocery store. The decorations and the interior had a great vibe and theme. The place seemed very clean and they did wear masks. The menu did have dishes that are not normally found in other local places and that caught my attention. Living in San Diego, Arizona and Texas I do know what good mexican food taste like. I ordered the three tacos, lengua, asada and the pastor. We were given some salsa and chips and it was okay at best. The food arrived and it looked good it was well presented, but first issue was the waitress got my order wrong, my sister got a crispy beef taco only since she can't eat much. I explained the the waitress my order was incorrect and they brought out two flour tacos when I ordered three. I didn't bother to argue. The flour tacos are not homemade which is such a sad thing, the meats were bland to my taste the only thing good was the lingua taco, the asada was bland and the pastor lacked flavor all together. My sisters taco was also bland. The owner came over and was very nice I explained that I didn't like it and informed her to please not take it out of my bill that I would pay for my food even though I didn't eat all of it at all. The waitress seemed upset I didn't like the food and pretty much didnt even thank us just slapped the bill and walked away upset. Through out the whole dining not once did she come over to ask if we needed drink refills just avoided us all together. Prices in my opinion are very high for mexican food. 10 dollars for three tacos and no rice no beans is a bit high. Local mexican places are much cheaper and better service and taste. I have it a three star because it was a nice place inside and the owner was super nice, the food wasn't great and the waitress was just terrible plus the prices, wanted to give it a two star but it's a new place. I personally wouldn't visit it again, but if I did I would try one of the expensive plates to judge them again. In al there is better choices locally the only good thing is that it's local to the Debary residents read more

Food was bland and didn't seem to authentic to me. One of the more disappointing parts was the chips served were flour tortillas chips with downright awful salsa. TBH while the decors is nice, the food feels much too "Americanized". read more

Friday night Mexican dinner time. This place is quaint and cozy with several dining tables inside and outside. Shared parking lot but plenty of parking. The first thing you notice is the authentic Mexican pieces on the walls, colors on the tables, soft Mexican tunes in the background, feels like you're in a novela! Service was nice and servers were very pleasant and attentive with big smiles! Food portions were not as big as expected for authentic Mexican but still very filling. Alcoholic beverages and several soft drinks to wash it all down. The prices were within budget and you could still have enough left for dessert. I can add this one to the regular visiting spots. read more

The chips were burnt. Food had no flavor. Server was nice but she did not check on us to see how the food is. The server is outside on a break while we are ready for the check and the leave. Found it by accident. Great food and fabulous chips! Will be back to this hidden gem.

I will start off by saying great service great decor and a welcomed addition to Debary. Kudos to you opening during a pandemic. Beer and wine only so no margaritas. Salsa tastes like tostitos doctored up with cilantro Tortilla chips are not tortilla chips they are thick fried triangles that more resemble like stacey's pita chips you get at the supermarket and they have no salt on them whatsoever Chimichanga with beef had corn carrots and celery inside very odd flavor they also did not top with queso which im used to and they do not have queso at all so cant order a side of it either Burrito Classico was decent not a flavor bomb like carne asada should be but definitely got eaten Side order of rice and refried beans...rice super bland and over cooked or dry im not sure just not that good Refried beans were decent good consistency Best thing was my glass of wine and the service but food was edible and for the average american i think people may like it if they like bland food but as much as i love to support local authentic shouldn't be anywhere near this restaurants description... Prices were a bit high for what you got but not terrible especially with COVID rise in food prices Good luck to ya'll sincerely and truly read more
