BE CAREFUL!! Do NOT do business here! Our experience with…read moreNueva Vida Funeral Home, specifically with Juan Carlos Carreño and Director Brenda, was extremely disappointing and distressing. Without our consent, they disposed of my brother's clothing, even though his case is under active investigation. When I reached out by email requesting clarification-specifically, who authorized this decision and where in their funeral policies it states that clothing can be discarded without family approval-Director Juan Carlos Carreño called me directly instead of replying in writing. He told me he would not provide anything in writing and claimed that "all funeral homes are allowed to do that. " He later stated that because the clothes were "soiled and had bodily fluids," it was "protocol." He was rude, yelled and hung up the call. Regardless of their explanation, no family should have their loved one's belongings discarded without their knowledge or consent, especially in a case involving an ongoing investigation. We have already filed a formal complaint with the Texas Funeral Service Commission regarding this matter. Families deserve transparency, respect, and professionalism during their most vulnerable moments-qualities we did not experience here! My honest, very careful written reviews keep getting deleted from google reviews..I'm sure mines are not the only ones getting deleted.

The owner, Grady Blount, returned my call the next morning. He asked me to send him a text of photos of my "junk" and then he'd get back with me with a quote. I agreed to the said price and he could fit me in this afternoon to take away my junk. It was that easy an quick. He came with 2 large pick up trucks and a large trailer. He and his helper, Garth, took all of our items and I feel so much better for not having all that junk wasting space in our ever shrinking apartment. Grady and Garth were ever so the southern gentlemen you would expect and they were quick and efficient and out of here with my broken junk in no time. If I ever need broken stuff taken away, I will definitely call Blount Junk and Trash Removal.

This cemetery was a trip back in time as I read the history on many of the grave markers. The city did a great job preserving the cemetery as the economy grew around the sacred grounds. Parking can be a little tricky, but the location is easily accessible once at the cemetery. What I found amazing was the one marked as a Confederate soldier captured in a Union P.O.W. camp. Take a look through this free history lesson to see what catches your fancy. You will be glad you did.
