The things that are most important to me about having work done with a business like Apex…read moreconstruction is responsiveness, timeliness, quality of the work, and fair pricing. Brandon and his team provided all of that throughout the process of my recent project, replacing a large window in an apartment space. I recommend them and will be calling on them for future projects.

He and the crew gave me a full price estimate and timeline on the project, asking for half the money as a deposit, also to be used for supplies with the other half due at completion. It took me a few weeks to obtain the building permit required for my porch. He kept in contact with me through that process to ensure we were on the same page and he could start as soon as I got everything in order. Brandon and the guys arranged to start on a day that worked for me, starting at around 9am to sunset everyday until both projects were done. They were profession and courteous through the whole job, only leaving behind sawdust in the grass. Great group of guys. I later had them come back to replace an 8x12 section of subfloor, main door to the house and floor tiles for the kitchen/entry way. Same experience as the first job. I have them scheduled again for this spring to renovate two bathrooms and replace some windows. Apex Construction is one of the best representations of a Maine local business I've seen in a long time. You'll end up keeping their phone number in your contacts for your next construction project, for sure. Let's see where do I start. After our fire we had to remodel the inside of our two year old custom…read moremodular house right down to the exterior sheathing during the winter of 2018. We had a very quick response from our insurance company and the contact person from Servpro of Augusta/Waterville area. In my initial conversation with Servpro we talked about the need for a quick and thorough demolition/tearout of the inside of our house. He agreed. Demo team showed up promptly as they were supposed to and started the tearout. This was a contracted crew that were not Servpro employees. They started on Monday, worked Tuesday and missed the rest of the week due to previous commitment on a different type of job. (snow plowing) Sad to say we were not very happy with Servpro. Starting the next week they showed up off and on due to the snow plowing job commitment. As they worked on our house my wife and I had questions for the boss/owner of this crew. He promptly developed an attitude and wouldn't answer the questions. When I called Servpro shortly after I was told by Servpro that they would deal with the issues we had with the owner. Thankfully that was the last we saw of him. The next demo crew to arrive were employees of Servpro and much more professional to deal with. Very hard and considerate workers that knew what had to be done and did it. As my wife and I watched the demo proceed we naturally asked questions about what they were doing and what was to be done next. We were just trying to understand the whole process and figure out what was next. So after questioning the crew I had a phone call from the boss of Servpro of Augusta/Waterville Me. telling me to refer all questions to him and not question his crew doing the work in OUR house. Well guess what, it's our house and i'll question whoever I want in OUR HOUSE. This demo took longer then we ever expected and not knowing what to expect we were very frustrated. The Servpro workers kept on task and did as they were supposed to. This demo along with the smoke and water mitigation took about two plus months to complete. After the demo the crew moved to our basement where a lot of our contents were stored and started to meticulously clean everything down there including all floor trusses, wiring, plumbing, stairs, floors and contents that had been boxed up and moved to the basement. Many thanks to Travis, Ed and Allison. Great Job! I would give the Servpro workers five stars, their boss about 2.5 Things to expect and questions to ask of Servpro. When can your crew start and are they dedicated to your house until the job is done? If you live in a rural area like we do expect that travel time from Augusta/Waterville area to your house and back will shorten the amount of time the workers actually spend working in your house each day. After having damage from fire or water, expect more damage from the tearout. Was not happy about that at all. Expect a few things to get broken as they clean glass or fragile pieces while handling hundreds of items. ( our crew was very upfront about broken items) The broken items were not a big deal in our opinion. In our opinion expect the Servpro employees to be professional as they do their work. It's your house you should ask any questions to the workers that you want but I believe they have been told to tell you to ask their boss. Servpro has a new owner who just called us and asked our opinion on his new company. We had a very candid conversation about the positive and negative experiences we had while dealing with Servpro. He asked if I would use his company again if needed and my answer was yes but only after asking many questions and getting the right answers. They did many things right and a few things could of been done better. I believe after talking to the new owner he will fix the issues we talked about. Marty

The total cost for the job was $3235.00 and $2000.00 needed to be paid in cash before the work would be scheduled. The check arrived on 10/8/11 and was in Jeremy Allen's (owner of the company) account on 10//11/11. He emailed to say he's coming to do the work on 10/19 or 10/20 depending on when he finished a job ahead of mine. On the 10/19 I received an email saying he was coming the following week on 10/26 without an explanation for the delay. Then I received a second email on 10/20 asking if he could come Mon or Tues (10/24 or 25) I replied that either day was fine and to let me know because we (including pets) had to be out of the house while they worked in the cellar. I never received word of which day. On 10/25 he emailed to say he was coming on 10/26. I sent back an email asking to be refunded my deposit and to cancel the work. His contract did not specify that the refund was non refundable and I felt I had let him hold my money long enough and was more than patient with his late start on the job. He said he wouldn't refund any part of the deposit so I agreed to have him come to do the job. He gets started late in the day and works late which is inconvenient for normal working people. His contract specified that moldy items in the basement will be bagged in black plastic bags to be removed. Nothing was bagged and everything was taken outside through my kitchen. After the job was completed I got an email on 11/1 saying his wife would come back to take air samples to ensure the mold was gone. It was several days later that she actually showed up and she also was paid the remaining $1235.00 for the job. I contacted Jeremy Allen to ask him to come back to fix the plastic sheeting that was obstructing my sump pump. He said they didn't touch it. I have pictures to show that they did touch it and they also put sheeting and duct tape on it making it inoperable. I didn't ask him to replace or fix my sump pump, just to correct what they didn't do right. He refused. If you want to have a lot of money tied up while you wait for your job to get done, and you like dealing with surly individuals when you make a reasonable request and all you care about is your mold being gone but don't care if the work performed that is supposed to keep mold from returning is done sloppily, then call Jeremy Allen at Pure Energy Pro. If that's not the kind of service you want, then don't call him!

Wet sheetrock was not removed but rather "dried in place." We have a son with compromised health and when I would express my concerns over the category 2/3 water and not removing sheetrock Bob Myers would reply, "Ya I see what you mean." Well due to disagreement with my insurance company my home has not been repaired and low and behold mold is showing up where the wet sheetrock was dried in place. The crew used my sliding door to remove wet debris. After the team left I found that a big piece of vinal trim was broken off my sliding door. When I inquired about they denied breaking it. Now water leaks in when it rains. Every phone call made by Bob to the insurance adjuster was done out of earshot. ServiceMaster was very inquisitive into what personal belongings we were going to claim on insurance and would report back to Horace Mann. I have spoken to numerous adjusters and water remediation companies about the mold found and the substandard job performed in my home. The consensus was the wet sheetrock should have been removed to allow for things to dry out. One adjuster asked who the company was that did remediation and when I told them ServiceMaster the comment was "they know better than that!"
