We pent six days at the marina. They are really attentive to transients and we kept ourselves well entertained in the beautiful town.

I was looking to purchase a small outboard motor and saw good reviews for Yamaha engines. Seeing…read moreAnchor Boats selling them I called to inquire about their inventory. I wanted a 2.5 HP motor and was told they had one in stock. I said I'd be there the next day. I drove to their location near US Route 40 and entered their showroom. I stood around for about 15 minutes before someone asked if I was being helped. Glad to finally have my presence acknowledged I asked for help. After finalizing the purchase I was directed to their marina south of town to pick up the motor. The salesman called ahead to let them know I was coming. I got to the marina and entered the store area. I again had to wait 15 minutes before someone offered to help me. The motor I got wound up not being ready for use. After putting on a small sailboat it wouldn't keep running. After going fo ra couple minutes it would surge and stall. This happened about ten times as I paddled the boat back to shore in 95 degree weather. I suffered heat exhaustion as a result. The next day I put the motor on a jon boat and tried again. Again it kept stalling. I viewed a You Tube video about the motor to insure I was starting it correctly but it kept stalling. After about an hour it finally stayed running. The Anchor technician omitted a couple of steps involved in starting the motor. Even after watching the instructional video the engine was very difficult to get going. Their total indifference to helping customers was very off putting. I won't do business there again.

Bob, Andy, and the rest of the staff are amazing!!! Why:…read more 1. Went to pick up the title for my boat trailer, the notary was late, Andy literally ran down the road to get the notary signature so I could get to the motor vehicle administration, in Frederick, on time! 2. My boat conked out in the middle of Lake Marburg. I called F&S and they talked me through troubleshooting the motor. That didn't work so Bob came out, hooked up my boat to his boat, towed me to shore, put my boat on my trailer, called his staff too alert them of me coming in for emergency service, pulled in the lot and before I could even get out of the car people were on the back of the boat trying to fix it. 3. Many times I have asked if I needed something that was suggested that I should purchase. Bob has said that I can sell you that but you don't need it! THEY ARE HONEST PEOPLE!!! 4. You are a person to them not a number. They take the time to get to know you!

When I got home and…read moretook it out on the lake a few days later I discovered it was taking on water and I couldn't locate the source. I called F&S and talked to Bud and Andy. Andy assured me they would take care of the problem. Told me I could bring it back to them or have it serviced locally and send them the bill. That offer alone set them way above most competitors. I took it back to them, they started on it immediately, didn't put me off at all. It took approximately 12 hours of shop work to find the issues and repair them. After the repair work was finished, the owner Bob, took me out on a local lake and went over all the repair work and functional issues. They even repaired wiring issues the previous owner had did and returned the electrical components back to factory condition as well as properly wiring the accessories the previous owner installed. To top it off they gave me a free Hummingbird fish finder for the inconvenience. This crew is top shelf, I've never experienced this kind of after the sale service. I strongly recommend and wouldn't hesitate to drive that distance to buy a boat from them. Outstanding team! Also, I forget the mechanics name, didn't get to talk to him much. But he walked me through every issue the boat had, what he did to repair it, and went over preventative maintenance with me to ensure it never happened again. Thank you all. Tim Painter

Jonathan has a great lot with access to the south river. For people who live in the area, it's a…read moregreat way to shop for boats and get a look at a variety of cruisers and their layouts. This review is based on my experience selling a 26 foot cruiser. Jonathan is hit and miss as far as being able to get a hold of. He's much better contacting via phone than email. Email responses either didn't happen or were very slow. He's better if you can catch him via phone. As someone who's selling with him, he has the most expensive brokerage fees but i took that in consideration with his location and that he lists on many of the boating sales website. The fees also include keeping the boat on his lot and weekly cleanings. This was important since I wouldn't be in town when selling the boat. In the end, the boat took 3-4 weeks to actually get listed. I wasn't kept up to date as to the status of the boat until I called each week. The boat was never listed on his website so it never had a chance for more offers. Since I moved from the area and was doing this over the phone, I felt I should just accept the offer even though the boat didn't get the same marketing as other boats. I'm glad it sold soon after it was ready, but I wish it got the same change through extensive marketing as his other listings got. The 3 stars is for missed expectations. I expected the boat to be listed within a reasonable amount of time. There were some cosmetic items he said I should get. I spent over $2000 in cosmetic items which I was hesitant about on a $22k boat. I didn't know this would take over a month to complete. I expected the boat to be listed on his website through yacht world to get extensive internet exposure because I believe that many more boat buyers are buying online and I wanted that exposure for my boat. That didn't happen before receiving an offer 2k below asking. i felt I should take it but really wished the boat had more exposure online prior to being asked to accept the first offer. In the end, i believe Jonathan and his wife are good people and are honest, but I felt expectations weren't met when I signed on.

To walk around this place and see the size of it, it's offerings and the number of vessels there, you'd think they wouldn't give me the time of day or even know that I or my little boat existed. Couldn't be further from the truth. Anytime I call and say my first name and that I have the little Chris, they know who I am and Tom (and the other Tom) are always more than willing to do whatever I need (living in California now). When Sandy hit, I was petrified that my boat was lost. She was safely tucked away and again, when I called they knew just what to say. I've recently had my boat hauled to the west coast and upon leaving, Tom made a lap around the marina to make sure that nothing was left behind from her various storage locations and the machine shop. I can't recommend these guys enough, nor can I imagine what kind of service someone would receive if they had a sizable and operational vessel in a slip! If you're looking, McDaniels is the ONLY place to consider.
