I was looking to purchase a small outboard motor and saw good reviews for Yamaha engines. Seeing…read moreAnchor Boats selling them I called to inquire about their inventory. I wanted a 2.5 HP motor and was told they had one in stock. I said I'd be there the next day. I drove to their location near US Route 40 and entered their showroom. I stood around for about 15 minutes before someone asked if I was being helped. Glad to finally have my presence acknowledged I asked for help. After finalizing the purchase I was directed to their marina south of town to pick up the motor. The salesman called ahead to let them know I was coming. I got to the marina and entered the store area. I again had to wait 15 minutes before someone offered to help me. The motor I got wound up not being ready for use. After putting on a small sailboat it wouldn't keep running. After going fo ra couple minutes it would surge and stall. This happened about ten times as I paddled the boat back to shore in 95 degree weather. I suffered heat exhaustion as a result. The next day I put the motor on a jon boat and tried again. Again it kept stalling. I viewed a You Tube video about the motor to insure I was starting it correctly but it kept stalling. After about an hour it finally stayed running. The Anchor technician omitted a couple of steps involved in starting the motor. Even after watching the instructional video the engine was very difficult to get going. Their total indifference to helping customers was very off putting. I won't do business there again.

As I was waiting for it to be done my rep and the mechanic come out and tell me I need brakes and if I wanted them to do it. I had hardly used the RV and the mechanic said that sometimes on GMC'S the brake controller is not right. Well I told them I would take it to my mechanic to have the brakes done. After I dropped the RV off at my mechanic ,they told me to come get it that I didn't need brakes . It was 3 or more years later that I needed brakes. Another incident : I had to have a new roof put on RV (over $10,000). About a year after it was done I went in for my forever warranty inspection and was told the roof needed new seals ($1200).How is this possible they just did the new roof less than a year ago. So, I had them redo seals on roof. Now less then a year later I am getting ready for a trip and my bed is wet. I go up on the roof and the seal on fan over my bed is severly cracked. Call General RV and let them know ( they only warranty seals for 3months). There answer was it was a rough year weather wise for seals. How about that for bullshit!!Every year must be a rough year for seal . It's either that or forbid I say maybe they don't know what they are doing at their work establishment. Needless to say I am going to let my forever warranty expire just so I don't have to deal with such incompetence and thievery. It a shame that we RVer's have to deal with companies like this. With 10 minutes notice Summit North got me a transient slip for the night. I explained that my 22'Cape Cod Catboat does not maneuver well under power, especially in close quarters. I was told not to worry and that there would be folks to help me as soon as I pulled in. True to their word, I had plenty of help from the staff with dock lines. They eased me up to the fuel dock so I could top off my tanks and then very considerately helped pull me into a slip that easy to access, even with my limited steerage. Everyone was super friendly and helpful right from initial call to my departure for Annapolis. I highly recommend Summit North and if I lived in the area, I would definitely use them all year. I only wish all marinas were that good.
