Tide Lock Park is a lovely little park along the Mount Vernon Trail in the northern part of Old Town Alexandria. Located north of Oronoco Bay Park (and the other Old Town waterfront parks, including Founders Park, Waterfront Park, etc), this lovely little park is a great place to stroll through and affords wonderful views of the Potomac River. It's right on the water and it connects with the Mount Vernon trail in the northern section of Old Town, near the old power plant (and the lovely murals near the power plant). I've walked through this park many a time, especially as I've endeavored to get outside more during this pandemic. There are also really cool vestigial "tide locks" in this park that were in use in ages past, and you can pass right by them and glimpse them. There's also a really cool stone obelisk statue / a super mini-Washington Monument here! I visit this park often and it's a serene, peaceful park away from the hustle and bustle of the Old Town Alexandria Waterfront, but still just a short distance away. read more
